AutoDoc are an excellent supplier. Spent £1,000s with them over the last 5 years. Just need to factor in the week or so it takes for delivery from Germany. Had a good giggle when you found your missing tool! Of course no one else has done that! Found a socket and ratchet in the lower engine bay of an S4 I bought a couple of years back. It was still on a nut, rusty as hell!

AutoDoc are great as long as you're not in a rush to get the parts. If you are they're a disaster, but if you can plan ahead and order in advance there's no one who offers better value from my experience.

Seems to me that all motor manufacturers are the same. Engines that can’t be maintained in situ, horrendous parts prices, engines that fail prematurely due to poor design. Imagine some poor sucker buying a similar car all shiny then it goes bang! Great content Dean, love how you take it all in your stride 👍🇬🇧😎

  • @MrHuismeester

And than a lot off mechanics complaining about French and Italian cars because they shout be complicated.....well after this miracle from the V.A.G. companies maybe they scratch behind the ears before they start working on these German cars... But the good news so far is that this engine is maybe not damage by the broken piston, so we stay positive ! Nice video Dean !!!!

That sounds about right with Audi. Rolls Royce use to do it in the 70's and 80's, they'd order bulbs in from Lucas and then sound them out to dealerships in RR boxes. Great video Dean, it looks a clean apart from the engine going bang.

  • @dj0men666

I feel your pain - had a bearing fail on my BMW thru broken timing chain guide getting in the pickup. Turns out the rod deformed and crank cracked so done a right job on it.... so ended up engine out you like you (but no nice lift in my garage lol). So turned into a full rebuild job and stripped it all right down. Just at stage of finding out about getting the crank and pistons balanced because the replacement rod is 2g lighter on one side and a new crank. Are you going to get the crank and new pistons balanced? I could risk it but given its a New (Never Ever Worked) crank so probably wise... Massive job for me as never been this deep in an engine before so huge learning curve.

Love this video & content, as I have a 2013 Black Edition Amplified as well. Mine is Somoa Orange & I recently had a misfire on Cylinder 2. Luckily my scanner revealed it was just a coil pack after swapping coils around. So, just got a Bosch one from Euros.
What is the main cause of this piston failure on these engines do you know? My car has 35k miles, & I'd like try & prevent this if possible.
