Adair shows he's a fanboi by totally ignoring Harris's well-documented pro-Porsche, anti-Ferrari bias. I enjoy Chris's stuff, but to deny he's biased is to want to make babies with him.
I always find it so funny that car reviewers absolutely love the car when it comes out but when a new barely different model comes out next year they say all the things wrong with it lmao
I would be inclined to say that it’s also because when a new model comes out, they have a new benchmark to compare it to. Sure, it would have been great when it was released, but now it’s old and superseded technology. That’s just my take on it anyway.
Getting rid of the stick shift was the first sign that Ferrari was moving into a direction of putting technology over the driving experience. I suppose only time will tell how far they go in this direction.
If THE Chris Harris says it is unusable in esc off mode, then boy did Ferrari shit the bed with this one. Never did I ever think I would hear him say that.
I suppose it’s because of the electric engines calibration, it’s not at a proper level yet so the car feels nervous and transitions in power delivery are not smooth enough.
Porsche was actually the most behind now that we look back. The small Naturally Aspirated engine is about to die and almost everyone has either gone to a larger V12 NA engine (Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Aston) or a smaller turbocharged V8 engine (McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Lamborghini, and even Porsche themselves). I'd say the P1 and LaFerrari were equally correct in their own ways while the 918 looks a bit odd going by today's trends.
It sounds like you need some level of assistance turned on in order to deal with all the background assistance that's already interfering with your inputs. Too digital for me. I prefer a more analog experience. I want to feel the acceleration, steering, breaks etc and be in control. Not be in a simulator.
This might be my favorite recent Ferrari, it actually looks like a Ferrari (gorgeous), it performs like one, and it's even got a "don't piss off your neighbors or car park mode". This is the first Ferrari I've actually wanted in a while!
are you kidding? It's ugly as hell, especially the from and back. Especially the rear where they have ruined the ferrari design language that identifies it as a ferrari. No circular tail lights. It looks plastic and like a weird knockoff of a corvette c8. google the c8 and you'll see exactly what I mean. Pininfarina was out by 2018 and it shows. This car does not look like a Ferrari. The detailing is too fussy and especially the back with those lights and the weirdly spaced exhaust is so wrong. It doesn't even sound that great. It's hideous!
@@Hello_there_obi I don't know man, I've grown up with Ferrari posters on my wall for 31 years and it looks like one to me. Curvy yet not too aggressive, athletic stance, big rear haunches etc.. If this is an ugly car, then that's a tall order for what a beautiful one is. How can it be “too good” if Chris Harris himself said that he doesn’t truly enjoy the car? Numbers tell one story, but what ultimately matters is how you feel behind the wheel
@@Kr0nicridah Edit: Sorry, misread your post. You are right, he didn't said it was too good of course. I meant to express that a car exceeding expectations performance wise isn't what makes them happy. And traditionally, performance has been considered the number one criteria to measure how good a super/hyper car is. I totally get his perspective, just find it funny that engineering has reached a level that this isn't the priority for those journalists, who ride all those 1000hp+ cars, when they judge wether they like a car or not.
Spoiled is a terrible way to put it, they aren’t his cars, he has no reason to put them down. He is highlighting that chasing numbers and performance doesn’t always achieve a more enjoyable experience for someone who really wants to enjoy the excitement of a supercar.
I always like to dream about an alternate reality where, around 2010, instead of developing a lightning quick dual clutch, Ferrari put all that money into the best feeling gated manual around. Imagine a 458 with an improved F430 manual gearbox... Or a new Roma.
Not sure I care (which is sad). Don’t know what I’d do with the power and I’d get anxiety running it or leaving it anywhere. How about something in the spirit of the Dino?
Great video as always! Genuine serious question, but curious to know why ability to hold a drift seems to be one of the main factors in determining handling capability. Is drift performance correlated to its general handling performance i.e. the ability to “balance” power and chassis in a predictable way? On a track you presumably want to *avoid* drifting as much as possible if you want good lap times? Genuinely curious... cheers.
On tracks u wanna have as little drift as possible, but a slite slide helps to turn the car a bit. But it all depends. I'm not really sure why they determine drifting as the final factor, but maybe Chris is onto something more. I'm no driver like him, hope to be, but it has always spiced my curiosity. It seems as the better they stay glued to the ground, the less he likes them :/

I always find it so funny that car reviewers absolutely love the car when it comes out but when a new barely different model comes out next year they say all the things wrong with it lmao
Disingenuous is the word you are looking for. Dont forget most of them need to asslick the brands otherwise they might not be able to use their cars.
@@meankronen8217 especially Ferrari. They get very upset if you don’t follow their rules. They’ve even banned Chris from reviewing in the past.
I would be inclined to say that it’s also because when a new model comes out, they have a new benchmark to compare it to. Sure, it would have been great when it was released, but now it’s old and superseded technology. That’s just my take on it anyway.
When it’s in full electric mode, do you still get to shift the gearbox ?
A car that is fast for Chris Harris!
Hasn't been since Tiff Needell that there has been someone that can hold an absurd drift and talk on camera like Chris.
Getting rid of the stick shift was the first sign that Ferrari was moving into a direction of putting technology over the driving experience. I suppose only time will tell how far they go in this direction.
What will they get rid of next? The steering wheel, pedals, basically anything a human could control....
So, out of the holy trinity, Porsche were ahead of their time?!
Another stunning looking Ferrari!
Porsche have always been ahead of their time, look at the 959 for example.
porsche invests the most time in development in the whole car industry
Porsche don't mess around when building their cars..... Very high standards!
Why were Porsche ahead of the other two? All 3 were hybrids
I personally dont care about circular headlights and would definitely not be a deal-breaker, the back looks just fine to me. If this is an ugly car, then that's a tall order for what a beautiful one is. That being said the world would be boring if we all had the same taste 😁, also there's no way I'd spend half a million of my money on it either, I'm just happy it's not a Ferrari California or FF lol.

If I'm being really pedantic, it's only got a few more HP than the LaFerrari. I'm not criticising Chris, I'm reflecting on how comparatively "normal" 1,000 hp has become and how difficult it must be to continuously think of a new way of sounding excited about it.
Those cars are 1million pounds plus, this is under a million pounds.
@@eldrabayaan1180 So. EV's are normalising this level of power already. It's not even as fast as a Senna by hypercar performance standards. Exactly
too good from what perspective? engineers or drivers who wants to enjoy a drive? ;)
That slide at 3:59 tho.. epic! Love you Chris Harris!

It seems as the better they stay glued to the ground, the less he likes them :/
It's about control. It takes away control from the driver.

At 3:30. I don't think the electric driving options are useless at all. This is the future.
