Huh, interesting. I did notice the clips holding the new buttons in the panel were less flexible when I was taking them out, but I didn't think much of it at the time. Kind of feels like they took one step forward and one step back with this. 😆 It'd be interesting to see how the reliability and lifespan of the new switches compares to the previous version.
Yeah exactly. They were so close to getting it right that hopefully they see this video and make the minor change. But again, perhaps the unbranded switch is part of a cost savings strategy? If not, they should totally drop this Baolian switches back in.
Did you have to do much work to fit the Sanwa buttons into the control panel? I tried eyeballing the size and it looked like the stock AC-1up buttons still have a slightly smaller diameter making direct swapping difficult. IMO the new buttons are passable enough that I didn't even want to try popping them out of the control panel for direct comparison (I've broken legit Sanwa clips that way before).
Yeah, they are still small enough that you'll want to use a little sand paper. For XvSF and Big Blue, I did 3 passes on each hole with sandpaper to file just a bit to get the buttons in. For Killer Instinct, the new buttons are bigger, so you can get it in without sanding with some force (but I'm not a fan of forcing expensive parts on expensive devices, haha) so I ended up doing one pass around each hole with sand paper and that was enough to make them slide in easily and snuggly.

Really liking it! Played a good bit of Battletoads so far. Loving the cab aesthetic! Planning to dig into KI1 tomorrow!
