I've been using the 6.0 DBD 16 mm for about a year now. Absolutely love the spin & power generated with this paddle. Curious about other paddles but not ready to move on from this one yet.
Excellent video and agree with you completely. It is an exceptionally well-rounded all court paddle. Unless someone gives me a very good reason, this will continue to be my go-to paddle. Out of curiosity, what other brand paddles are similar to 6.0 DBD
@@Vasu_Polu I started with a Vatic Pro and to this day question if I gained anything switching to a DBD. Joola also makes a 'ben johns' hybrid style. There's a ton of knock offs
First thing I did was rebuild my grip with balsa wood shims and wrap with a different grip. I was just about to buy a selkirk vanguard pro invikta, but think I'll pause. I do love this paddle but would like some extra length - I know they're same, but different shape. I wiff on the odd shot when stretched, usually b/c I'm not choked down enough... that's it, that's all...
You're always giving something up though, so going for an elongated or extra elongated shape might give you that reach for those random shots but you'll sacrifice sweet spot or stability or something in return usually. If you have a paddle you love, or a shape you love or are used to I'd recommend drilling that scenario rather than switching just for that as it's a minor issue
@@ThePickleballBlast good advice. Not many use the hybrid shape. It's all I've used, thought I might try something different. Maybe next black friday, cheers
I'm deciding between this and the joola gen2 Perseus, I can get them for the same price. what would you recommend? id classify myself as a more aggressive player
I personally would go with the six zero. I demo'd the perseus gen 2 for a few days before I went with the DBD and found that while it was fine, it had a more dampened feel and felt less poppy to me.
I never played with the ruby and at this point I feel like I probably won't. My recollection is the ruby is less pop and power, probably a smaller sweet spot with it being edgeless, but probably lower swing weight as well I would guess
Always wanted to try one. I'm glad it's still good for you a year later as other paddle buzz mentions paddles lasting only 6 months or less. I've advised people they can get two years. I think after that it's just time to try something else because people's ability changes, and the technology seems to change every year too. Thank you. Good job on video, b roll, and audio.
Appreciate it so much! Yah I'm definitely not saying there's no difference between a brand new one and one nearly a year old, in fact I hit a newer demo one side by side with mine and you can't totally feel a difference. But it's not like the paddle is unusable either! But yah I'm with you, at a certain point it's nice just to switch it up and see what the market has to offer!
@@danielajohnson40 you won’t go wrong with the Six Zero BD. I still play with my BD JMV edition and it’s my most reliable paddle. I’ve tried plenty and I always go back to it.
Both awesome options! I think the six zero will have a bit more pop and will be a bit more stable, neonic will be just slightly quicker in the hands maybe slightly more power too on drives. You won't be disappointed in either, but the tie breaker for me, at least right now is the price. That PickleballBlast code stacks with the neonic black friday sale that already started which brings it to around $100 which is pretty awesome at that price point!
Got mine 16mm, and the one I got ironically has been so hard to control. It played OK the first sesh. but then I have been struggling to control. It really has unctrollable pop for me, so much that balls are flying out at simple touch from the kitchen line. Balls are flying 6-7 feet on cross court semi drives. Drop work well, but I am putting so many volleys in the net. I have never made so many errors with any other paddle. It's really bizarre experience as it's nothing like what I have heard about this paddle. I have tried different grip strengths and wrist position but Feels like I have no control over it. Anyone else had such experience in the beginning with DBD 16
How long have you been playing with it and what paddle were you coming from? The pop can be an adjustment but especially in todays game it's not extreme and should be something you can eventually get under control
@@ThePickleballBlast I have had a hit with DBD 16 before, it felt nice and muted. Currently I am using Vatic Pro Flash 16. I've used Standout CF3 16 power and this DBD I've got feels like a Gen 3 level in terms of dialing in the control. I'm hoping as it breaks in the carbon stiffness loosens a bit more.
@@ThePickleballBlast Thanks for your replies. I have looked up, it's not actually odd. There are fair few who have had similar experiences thats been shared it on Reddit subs and Chris Olson's discord.
That's the million dollar question with like any paddle I feel haha. It's also kinda the benefit of the age we live in and where pickleball is as a sport. It's been so popular that tons of new brands are entering the space giving the consumer just a ton of options at all different price points, which I definitely love to see!

Thanks . I got two of 14 mm double black diamonds.
the 14mm is a fun paddle!

DBD was my first real paddle - looking for my next but loved this paddle
Mine too! What are you considering for your next paddle? Sticking with six zero or going a different direction?
@@ThePickleballBlast Kinda want to try something different - but might just go with a 6.0 single black diamond there is way to many

Hey I appreciate that dude!
I’m still winning tournaments with mine but I’m considering going elongated version
Definitely worth trying one out!
I agree that this is a good paddle and well proven. However, I've been wondering if there're better paddles for the same money.

Whatever you do don’t buy from the company directly. They are terrible about returns and will do anything to keep your money.
Something changed in the manufacturing process. The 2023 paddles were apparently much more solid than the recent ones
I don't know anything about that but would be a bummer if true! Just got another recently though and so far so good
