Purchased this and played with it for a few hours last week. This review is spot on. I also have two other 16mm DBDs that Ive been using for about a year. Biggest adjustments I need to make are learning to adapt to the longer handle while at the kitch (dinks, flicks, and backhand rolls). Serving with this thing is a beauty with the amount of whip gained with the extra length. Once I adjust to the net game, i can see this being my go-to paddle.
3.5ish-4.0 level here. Reaction of DBDe after playing a week or so! Elongated paddles are fantastic. I love my 2 handed backhand, that's the main reason I switched from Hybrid shapes. All court type play, me & my partner play aggressive & like to put the ball away after good dinks. I am biased, where the elongated feel is more like the tennis play that i'm used to where the ball is out futrher, & thus elongated means miss-hits are fewer. However my favorite paddles over the past year are: Double Black Diamond, Pro1 6.0, Gearbox Pro Ultimate (little too much power for me, as well as the Mark Kevlar paddle I hit a few times). Partner who plays DBD played with DBDe & liked it... I think he felt comfortable with the spin on his DBD but liked to reach for smashes putaways but didn't trust it yet. We both were off the first night, naturally. but he's also only played PB 5 mo VS tennis for years. I could see him dialing it in & really put stuff away, as we look to (lightly) do 4.0 tourneys. I loved the DBDe. Wow. The serves are more powerful, easier than Pro1 6.0. There were several moments where me & my partner both hit with it & just looked at each other. Course we had our miss hits too where there was actually trouble dialing in that trampoliney heavy feel. When I switched back, Pro1 6.0 (around 8.3 with lead tape) was comfy on certain shots I could trust (playing with it for 4mo). But I noticed I was swinging more if I want to drive? dinks felt pretty similar... I think I can dial it in a couple weeks because i came from hybrid DBD last year. I lost some games bc I took the week off & was trying to test the limits of this new DBDe. Overall Encouraged! They are not the same play style, I really like the trampoline effect of the DBD & DBDe. Newer players couldn't handle my power serves on it. I definitely feel the power, maybe due to that 8.5oz weight. Dinks were similar, not like WOW whoa WAY different, at all. Not trampoliney & sometimes requires some less swings bc it's got that power! Main paddle now, big time fun. Keeping it in rotation for the foreseeable future
FYI, this paddle is actually $189.99 on Six Zero's website ($10 more than the regular DBD) and after your discount code it's $171 + $6 for the optional shipping insurance.
How does this compare to its predecessors the 16mm/14mm DBD and Ruby?…I wish the video had some mention of this…”Best 15mm on the Market” is a bold statement. What other 15mm paddles did you test to come to this conclusion? Are there 15mm paddles that are comparable?
feels very similar to the 16mm DBD with a smaller sweet spot but longer shape allows for more spin on drives and better reach. I use a 14mm ruby, switching over noticed a little less power but better control. Ruby faster at kitchen compared to DBD in general.

Great review. Thanks for including swing weight and twist rate.

Awesome!!
I’m new to the concept of weighted tape. How does it expand the sweet spot?

Wow!
Great insights !!
Another great content and review Michael, is this considered a All court paddle leaning towards power or control
Thanks!

Thanks!!
Since it looks like you are in Hickory, ill give you a follow👍
lol
Dang, the outer courts at that facility have some loooow ceilings. I don't lob much but it'd disappoint me that I couldn't use them barely at all.
lol yes
This for tennus players
Yep
Looking at the number of comments I guess it's a great paddle 😊
It is!

If you want a longer handle, this is an awesome paddle
Compared to the DBD
not the best option in sept 2024
Lots of other reviews coming!
Lose the unnecessary and annoying background music
Thanks
