I bought one of these back in the spring. After owning it for 6+ months at this point, I absolutely love it. Its my guitar of choice for just about everything I play for; an absolute workhorse. Fun to play and sounds great imo. I love how warm and pleasurable the tone feels, and the guitar sounds great playing metal as well as blues which is a plus on stage having fewer guitars to keep with you. Only thing I'll say is mine has a little fuzz in the mode selector when changing modes, but that goes away once you're in the new position, so doing things like going from single coil to full humbucker mid riff sounds a bit rough.
Personally I love the neck pickup on this guitar, easily wins my heart out of all the pickups on guitars I own. Overall, I love this baby. Best buy I've made in years.

Just bought a PRS SE semi-hollow 22 custom with the split coil feature. It's the second SE I've owned and for the money it's a remarkable instrument. Incredible playability, lovely neck and superb build quality. But I agree, the split coil sound is quite anemic and I seldom use it for blues or rock -- mostly for just noodling "soft jazz" riffs. But the feel of even the PRS SEs is addictive, and almost identical to the core models. And keeping a few grand in your pocket also feels quite nice!

My experience- That’s a guitar that every youtuber seems to mention is great, but none of them have one nor do many stores carry them.
So, last Christmas I saw one available 45 mins away and got all amped to play it in the sexy teal. So disappointed.
First, the body looked mismatched to the neck. Fretboard was very spacious like an SG, but the body was small looking. Then, the neck just played awkwardly. It had no roll on the fretboard edges or ‘shoulders’ like an SG. Tho, that was same year I wasn’t thrilled with the custom 24s, but my hunch is that Paul’s Guitar was hyped by Paul, who is massive supporter of TH-camrs, who also hyped it..then they all went back to the custom 24, Zach Meyers, and Silver Sky.
Then again you may Love it. That’s what’s great about guitars. Keep in mind I’m 6’4 built like tight end.

      35th Vs Custom 24
      Abalone bird inlays Vs plain
TCI-S pickups (very marginally more vintage) Vs 85/15-S
08 wiring switching (8 combos, double mini toggle individual pup splits, 3-way selector) Vs 5 way (3-way blade, global push/pull pup split)
      35 truss cover
35th vs Custom 24-08 that has the 08 wiring too is almost negligible differences. Abalone birds and truss cover.

I think a lot of times people have brand loyalty or they just hate a brand for whatever reason. I tend to be really objective on the PRS and other guitars. They have pros and cons for me personally. Now I have the same guitar and I do really like it. It feels good it is constructed amazingly well and it is is a beautiful instrument and is easy to play. But after a few months I did start to notice some of the objective cons. It doesn’t have great sustain compared to many of my other guitars. I liked the pickups at first now in comparison for recordings with some of my others I have discovered through comparison they are kinda muddy. My final issues is probably my biggest issue and it is the tuning stability because of the nut hugging the strings. I was able to fix that last thing myself. And I don’t have that issue anymore but man it was frustrating having to retune after a few minutes

    • @KM-302
      @KM-302 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I've come to expect slight nut adjustments at any price point. My les Paul's and sg were the worst for string slot bind, but 30 minutes and its all sorted. Pickups are really subjective. Almost every brand has its haters. However these are two things that are very easy to remedy. If the general construction and neck is good, then you'll have a great guitar. Now, harley benton!, don't get me started on that firewood!!

When I was able to acquire a "core" PRS Custom 22 a sold my SE Custom 24. The core model PRS's are just so amazing, there was no comparison. That doesn't take away from the SE though. The SE that I had was a very good guitar, but the core I now own is light years better. The SE had a slab body with very little carve to it.
The birds were very plain vs the mop or whatever the core's birds are made from. They look amazing.
Fit, finish, setup: the SE played pretty good, no problems with it at all. The core PRS I have is perfection. The solid rosewood neck feels amazing. Intonation is perfect. Frets absolutely perfect. Plays better than any other guitar I've ever picked up.
I believe that the core PRS guitars rival any other guitars, including vintage guitars from Gibson and Fender. That's just my opinion.
