    PRS guitars look amazing, their electrics and acoustics play perfectly, and they’re set up just right brand new out of the box! Love the attention to detail with even their lower end stuff.

      For sure, the difference between this 600€ guitar and their 2000-4000€ guitars are not night and day difference.
      In blind tests people have failed to pick out this SE line as being the cheapest one amongst other PRS guitars which starts at 1800€ and then go up. So this guitar is very impressive for the price. They recently released the new generation of the SE line and the prices have gone up a bit though. They now start at 800€ with this standard model.
      Still like you mentioned, It is great to see them put a lot of effort into these "cheaper entry level" guitars.

    This has to be one of the best guitars I have ever owned. It plays amazingly, it sounds great, it feels good, it’s comfortable…it’s just perfect. Never thought I’d find a guitar that would beat my Peavey HP Signature EXP but this one does it. I am a die hard Strat guy and I find myself playing this more than my Strats these days.
    It was very well setup and intonated straight out of the box too. Didn’t have to do anything but plug it in and have fun. And I absolutely love the coil taps on it also.

    Amazing value.
    If you want PRS 24 with better tuners, you must buy the S2 24 for $1650.
    If you want PRS 24 with better pickups, you must buy the CE 24 for $2000.
    If you want PRS 24 with better bridge, you must buy the Core CU 24 for $3700.
    That is astonishing. I wish more guitar brands had such quality components in their cheapest guitar.

    • @diecastmods2359
      @diecastmods2359 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Nah, if you want better tuners you just go and spend under 100usd on the locking tuners from PRS. Anything under the core and above the SE you're paying for aesthetics because you can upgrade anything on the SE for WAY cheaper, pickups and/or tuners.

    • @therobertpetty
      @therobertpetty 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The SE Standard has the same pickups as most of their lineup. The 85/15. Those same pickups can be found in some Custom guitars and even some of their premium US made guitars. The only real difference is the build quality, the finishes and the SE Standard having a cheap nut. Other than that they are basically all the same. You could drop $1500 on a good quality PRS and it might have the same pickups as their $649 SE.

    Thanks for posting this video. I was in the market for an affordable guitar that wasn’t junk. This video made me take a look at the SE Standard. I went to a couple of local shops and played MANY guitars. I had always overlooked the SE Standards. After playing one, I chose the Standard over all the other SE’s and many other makes and models. Your video helped me see how versatile the Standard is. It’s a nice guitar for the money. Great playing by the way, you have a new subscriber. Thanks.

    The whammy staying in tune after that abuse was impressive! The bridge pickup sounded fine both splitted and as a humbucker. The neck pickup was a bit too muddy.
    That guitar with three single coils and another layout of the electronics would be a strat killer.
    And I always enjoy the playing.

    I bought this exact model in the blue color about 6 months ago.
    Immediately got it to tech to install a bone nut. Otherwise I would not change anything.
    It sounds great, plays great, frets are level and well rounded, stays in tune better than some of my higher end fixed bridge guitars (since the nut upgrade).
    Pickups are fine and those can be swapped anytime anyway...
    I has rounder fretboard radius but that is also about personal preference.

    Not a guitar for everyone. I borrowed my friends trampus green se and I didn't like it. It was okay but was not butter. Not that I expected that but something didn't jive with me. If it was mine I would have done a set up but I think I didn't like the pickups more than anything. Seemed week but then again I use seymour Duncan's Saturday night specials in my stew mac super lp and the 57 classics in my epi pro 3 traditional. Honestly I wouldn't buy one. I'd probably go for a musicman cutlass. Fine fine guitar if I could afford it.

  • @johns1159
    @johns1159 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    That extreme whammy test blew my mind! I wouldn't have never expected a bridge like this to be able to keep everything in tune so well. I'm guessing this bridge will be able to easily handle a simple Drop D tuning without knocking all the strings out of tune.

      With a floating tremolo, detuning the low E to D will cause the other five strings to go slightly sharp. How noticeable this will be I can't say, but it'd show on a tuner.

      @@ParaBellum2024 That is good, because I mean, changing tuning and even changing strings on a tremolo like this is much closer to a normal fixed bridge than a Floyd rose for example right ?
      Except that you often have to tune all strings when tuning one compared to a fixed bridge of course.
      That is what I think is great with a tremolo like this if It can hold it's tuning this good, that it is much easier to live with than for example a Floyd Rose.

    That Standard of yours the stock 85/15"S" pups sound really good with the Plexi, not even necessary to swap them. I have a 2008 Korean SE and I wasn't a fan of the stock pups, so swapped the neck for a Seymour Duncan P-Rail. With the various switching options capable with a P-Rail I'm very happy with the result.

    I bought a PRS SE out of interest a year ago & was amazed at the quality, its got binding like yours but its a different shade of blue , Its such a dark blue it looks almost black every little thing was addressed on this guitar & I got it brand new for $400 USD. the pickups where okay, I put locking tuners & a new nut I also put in PRS Metal pickups ( they cost nearly as much as the guitar ) very high output, Im not used to high output pickups. Its now one of my guitars for session work, the pickups are very versatile & clean. Im used to hs3 hs4 yjm furys in my Strats so this was very different. It has to be the best cheaply priced quality guitar out there, & there is the perfect guitar Elmo its called the Fender Stratocaster In Yngwies words" Strats are the pinnacle of guitar making & look how sexy they are " ha He's funny .

    So unfortunately I get more out of Squier Affinity or a Bullet than these, because at least the Strat look has a lot of inspiration to it.
    These SE guitars just looks too flat for me.

    One the best reviews I've seen from you (and I really like your reviews). One thing only, your hands and this amp make most of the guitars sound great... That was not a complaint. My own conclusions come from what every guitar "makes" YOU play on it.

    I have owned a few PRS pieces, and my favorites in the SE line are the Tremontis. Hotter pickups.
    Once again, EJK, great review. Fair and honest.

    Having been disappointed some while ago by two SE 245s which had to go back, I took a bit of time off from GASing for PRSs.
    Until ...
    Enter the SE DGT.
    I did a LOT of research (watching of videos) and bought one from Peach Guitars this time.
    Why Peach ?
    Because they really DO open the boxes and perform a setup, so No QC lottery.
    I am now a Very Happy Bunny.
    This SE DGT is Brilliant ! It's got me playing stuff I never did before.
    Genuinely Inspirational.

    14:43-14:46 You cut out something after the tremolo test (wammi bar), can you please tell me what it was, it just seems to me that behind the scenes you tuned the guitar ... I'm not saying that you did it but I am interested in the authenticity of this test I hope you answer))) I've been looking at your reviews for a long time, they are perfect)))

    Hey Elmo, thanks to your review I ordered this one!
    But everyone else on the internet seems to have issues with the trem system and tuning stability.
    Could you give me a video link or something that can help me set this guitar up properly similar to what was done with yours? I'm a complete beginner

    I had this guitar for a while but didn’t like it because it wasn’t my preference I’m more of a Jackson guy so I traded the guitar for a Marshall

    First day I got it. Its pretty decent but the volume and tone pot was pretty crap. Mine came in badly set up tho, was pretty bummed. I would upgrade the bridge pickup tho, idk it dosen’t have the fat sound I was looking for and was too much on the treble side.

    Sorry if I missed it, but you didn’t talk much about the neck. I am looking for something with a thin and wide neck like, I believe, some of the Ibanez guitars are. Would this fit the same description? Thanks.
