Several years ago I was teaching art in the Arkansas delta area. One of the teachers, who had been out duck hunting with a group, heard some of the hunters talking about having seen the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker multiple times in the area they hunt. He said they had no intention of reporting the sighting because they didn't want outsiders coming in to search for it. I am skeptical, but his story adds to the myth for me and I want to believe that it is out there, living in the swampy Arkansas backwoods.
Woah, schrodinger's birb. I hope that it turns out this is one that is actually just in hiding, because everyone loves a good underdog story. Your colors here are gorgeous and vaguely halloweeny which I think is great even though it's likely that those are the actual colors of the bird, the morbidity of halloween suits the sort of spookiness of a potentially ghost bird. Your work is always so gorgeous and I always love getting to see it come to life!
Stunning painting of an almost mythical American bird! Another great group of birds and paintings by the AAC. I hope you bring back your series on the structure of birds and how to draw & paint them, they were very helpful tutorials, thanks!
I absolutely love the glow of the black due to your orange underpainting. Thanks for sharing this special and their lore with us! It was so interesting and I look forward to seeing what you come up with (especially if it's another extict species!)
While I sincerely hope you're right about that and Ivory-billed Woodpeckers still exist, the Pileated Woodpecker looks a lot like the Ivory-billed Woodpecker and are more common in your area. They also live in my Pacific Northwest area and are quite stunning (if somewhat annoying if they live in a tree outside one's bedroom and do their wood pecking and shrieking thing!)

Love the design !! Gorgeous colours! TFS ❤♥❤
Beautifully colored! I was very happy to hear and see one in 2018 not far from the Choctawhatchee River.

Wow. Stunning and so dynamic ❤️️
Thank you for the beautiful reading from Audubon! Your painting is beautiful and captures of mystery of this bird's existence.

In Liquid Color 🤓my thoughts exactly ! 😉
Thank you. Much appreciated.
what a magical bird painting and narration! just lovely, and loved the calligraphy and its sentiment as well.
I love this painting, the medieval/draconic style reminded me of an illuminated manuscript. Beautiful storytelling as well!
Beautiful painting, Mary and I loved hearing about this strange creature!! I especially love the tongue 😛😝 your black tones are beautiful, too 💖
Fabulous!!! As always !! Loved hearing about Audubon and his depiction of this bird.. thank you so much, Mary!!
The art is lovely and family crest style and the beautiful depiction of this birds leaves us with a peculair feeling :D
This was just perfect. Loved everything about both the art and the video! The dragon like stance really captures that mythical feeling.
This was so lovely to watch and listen to. Thank you for this 💙
Thanks for watching!
Your works are so amazing
Beautifully done.
Thank you!
Wow I love the colors and the layout as well as your style! Your paintings always look so...soft? :D
I know this is just anecdotal, but one nested outside my bedroom window in the late 80s in East Texas (Lake Athens area).

Beautiful! Can you get a similar effect with watercolour? I'm looking to get back in to art in lockdown and that's all I have.
Hi, yes, you can, aside from the opaque highlights I did on the black feathers. Everything else would behave similarly in watercolour.
@@MarySanche Thank you! :)
What is the black ink used? Payne's Gray or Ivory black perhaps? Lovely art
For the bird it's mainly payne's gray paint. For the letters, just a generic dark dark sepia ink.
