I like to think of the Way the words look as the tone and volume of them, The shape of the speech bubble as emphasis of those tones and volumes. And the lines on the outside aka the squares circles/ various shapes you put everything into as the music/ setup of a scene. Using squiggly lines for dark, eerie and scary scenes and rounded edges for more calm scenes
🧹 manga i noticed differs its gutter size, the vertical is usually thinner than horizontal gutter. and the width of the gutter implies a span of time elapsing, if you make a really wide gutter breaking the rhythm this would mean a long-er time has elapsed from the previous panel. that's for all comics I've read. the 180 rule is from film and breaking it has its purposes like a reveal or a turn of events (get it?). like a dolly zoom but in a 2 or 3 shot king of thinf. most of these tips you'll get find in understanding comics by scott mccloud, a comic about comics. highly recommended!
"understanding comics" was actually required reading in one of my classes! i think i still have my copy lying around somewhere lol (also thank you for telling me about the gutter sizes in manga bc i haven't noticed that yet 😳)
Id love more of these videos, ive been on and off making comics by hand directly onto paper over the past few years and even though id like to think that ive gotten good at it by now its all been self teachings, a collage level tip or two is definatly helpful considering i dont have a magic delete button, cant wait for the next video!
I learned some of these things from Winged Canvas but this was helpful nonetheless. Also, thanks for the inspiration to work on my comic :) Edit: I love your name by the way. I love chamomile tea :D 🧹
🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹 (gosh damn, took me a bit to find the broom emoji lol) Anyways, love this video. It answered a lot of my questions regarding making comics. Good luck on your comic launch btw. Yippeekaiyay.
