8 Things I Learned While Making Comics In Art School
มุมมอง 5K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
I’ve mentioned several times in the past that I have a degree in cartooning/making comics. Even as a kid, I enjoyed making comic strips of whatever stories I had in my head. In fact, I liked making them so much that I went on to college with the goal of making comics for a living. Even though that experience was a bit of a roller coaster, there were still some valuable tips I learned during my ...

Art Regression, Perfectionism, And How Both Intersect
มุมมอง 1.2K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Art regression seems to have become a bit of a hot topic in the art community in the last few weeks, and it's a subject that a lot of artists (myself included) seem to dread. But what exactly is art regression? And what does this have to do with perfectionism, like the title of this video implies? This video was a bit trickier to write about, since I have a complicated relationship with both pe...
Redesigning Some Old Characters! (Speedpaint + Commentary)
มุมมอง 11K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today I'm joining the Character Redesigning Club and redesigning some characters from an old comic project of mine! I spent much of my childhood working on this story and it got many changes over the years, but the core of the story remained the same: a group of high school students fighting monsters and alien-like beings from another world. For a long time I didn't think to reboot this story a...
How Recycling Old Story Ideas Helped Me (And How It Can Work For You)
มุมมอง 5594 หลายเดือนก่อน
When I was a kid, I had two stories that I greatly enjoyed developing and were, at the time, very special to me. Unfortunately, they were never finished to completion (sad times), but I always wondered how I could rework them as the years passed. One of my college teachers said to let your old story ideas go (and I can kinda see why), but you still shouldn't yeet your old ideas into the Abyss n...
Let's Talk About the Genshin/Wuthering Waves Design Discourse

I don't usually talk about anything that would be considered "drama" on this channel, but being in one of the fandoms involved in some recent character design discourse that I'll be covering in this video, I felt the need to give my two cents. I'll be analyzing the character designs for both Genshin and Wuthering Waves from as neutral a standpoint as possible, commenting on their strengths and ...

How I Design My Characters - A Comprehensive Version (thank you for 250 subs!🌟)
I loved learning about your perspective! Although I disagree in a lot of the point I see where your coming from haha 😂 Although I love genshin designs I prefer WuWa more simply because they insert you in the game more. Where the npc are almost as detailed as the 4 stars and the 5 starts are just as detailed as the 4 stars and makes them really part of the world. Especially since this game is cyberpunk+apocalypse themed (and the colours make more sense in this narrative). Unlike genshin where its a fantasy world, WuWa is trying to play a more realistic route where the accessories don't inhibit fighting ect. Personally for me and my author/artist senses, WuWa designs bring the game to life more, while genshin is trying to bring certain character to life. It works for each game favor: Wuwa wants you more immersed in the game while genshin the characters (honesty for the monetary value it brings them)

7:07 bruh it just looks like a normal cartoony hand 😭😭😭 fr getting bullied over a hand?
“Art Lore” probably’s just “lore” (drama/tea) about a specific artist.

Do you use the csp models included or do you just straight-up sketch it without.
usually i look for outside reference such as other 3d models or photos, but sometimes i'll use the csp models
Beautiful, love it!
Both are good in diferent way
In my opinion, I prefer Wuthering Waves' design, subject to the themes present. Their is a theme of regional cohesion, and yet each character presents their own feel and look. i haven't ended up confusing any designs for another, Baizhi and Jianxin both seem separate because of mood and tone projected through their designs. The overall theme of Jinzhou as a border city on the frontlines of near constant war really bleeds into their designs. and they all fit within the world, as people a part of their communities. in comparison, genshin has great character design, maximizing space, colour, and giving uniqueness, but it is often too bright, and some are easier on the eyes.
This is a very nice and seasonal art
thank you! 🍂
@@acupofchamomile no prob
I almost gagged. $60 is such a good price considering it's size function, accerioes, and quality! Also congrats on the sponsorship! I hope this video blows up, you had a really honest and well made review.
Genshin character designs are top-tier, but what ruins it for me is the character models, hoyo skipped anatomy class apparently, for example, furina's head is so big for no reason and her shoulders are so narrow, it is distracting. Your drawing of her looks 100x better because anatomy. This is why I prefer wuthering waves
02:48 Saying that Wuthering Waves has same-face syndrome coming from a Genshin player is just insane to me 😂
Have y’all seen what we could’ve gotten for Emelie? 😭😭
I was already struggling with art block when ai art became a thing. It’s heartbreaking, and anyone who’s not an artist may never understand. You work so hard for so many years to perfect your craft, only for a machine to pump out hundreds of better pieces that are widely praised.
Awesome review :) I really miss some of my favourite creators not really reviewing much anymore, so I'm always glad to find new creators making high quality videos, they're so relaxing to watch 😊
thank you! 💫
Hey can you teach how you make so smooth gradient ! And, you should upload tutorials/ tips for artist who draw on drawing tablets without screen ❤ Loved your review and subbed ✌️
thank you!! i'll definitely consider uploading some tutorials ✨
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊
Wuwa when I first look at them, their design kinda give cultivators type which not my cup of tea but look amazing nonetheless. But what I like about genshin is you can tell which nation they came from.
I love your videos so much❤ I just found your channel yesterday 😄
thank you!! 🎇

🖐+✏-🤖=✍ Nice video!
Your background game really improved and I think it adds so much to the pieces :D Not sure it it helps or you tried this, but it might be helpful to look at the pieces in grayscale to push the contrast where it's needed to improve readability :D I personally always feel like I didn't improve or got worse, but redrawing or reimagining old pieces shows so much of what has changed. I tried this in the past and I made one grave mistake that pulled me down so bad: Once in a while one makes a piece that is faaar over the normal skillevel and basically a happy accident. If one tries to remake that about a year or so later and fails to match the quality that is so disheartening
I feel like you can't really say one is better than the other.. mostly because, like you said, it's more about personal preference. But also the fact that they have two different themes and worlds entirely! "Genshin is too bright and saturated" not really! Their complex and colourful designs fit the environment they're in! If you were to put ANY of the Genshin characters in Wuthering, then yes, it wouldn't look right. And that can also be said vice versa. Not to mention Wuthering has a very modern and post apocalyptic aesthetic and feel to it! One of the places (i forgot the name. The place with the killer petals) even looks like an abandoned warzone (partly because it is). And Genshin has a fantasy (mediaeval almost) type of feel. Using magic instead of technology. With a much more vibrant and lively atmosphere! I mean if someone walked into a local grocery shop dressed as a knight or something, it would look weird and out of place (though that would be awesome.) And then you would have a reason to claim a design (outfit/style) choise is better than another! And i have seen similarities in designs and personalities of characters from both games. Lingyang and Gaming. Both do lion dancing. Both are super sweet and energetic. And both love sharing food. Design wise though, Lingyang matches Rasor quite well, at least hairstyle wise.
Artist myself, AI should ONLY BE USED for the sake of inspiration It should NEVER replace human artists
You’re using it for what I believe it’s the correct way to use it
@@theshinypeliper8813 That's what i do most of the time but never in my life copied any of them
THIS SHOULD BE A SERIES
Tbh, if we go fair like endfield and wuwa since they're both apocalyptic and sci fi There's something really wrong with wuwa's design Its..kinda weird and sometimes its just forced fanservicey Like mc for example which probably my most hated female mc design in recent memory..her design is ??????? Its super strange and just forced fanservice Endfield mc are simple yet there's elegance in design, its well thought out
Awesome video
thank you! 😎
I like WuWa's designs more myself because my own style is more similar to the fashion in WuWa
genshin's character roster is distinct, even if the character might be ugly. i think why i prefer genshin characters more is because they manage to make even monochrome colours very unique. for wuwa, i didn't really enjoy the colour combinations. it was always colour+black, which for starter characters was pretty boring for me (i will say, the latest characters are quite eye catching and made me wanna get back to wuwa. shorekeeper is so pretty) i can definitely tell the difference between the starter characters and the ones now
Wow!
it's hard to compare them due to different settings and overall stylistic choices but from a designer pov - Genshin puts a lot of context to their character designs. you can easily guess their occupation, region (and see cultural elements that inspired said region), even personality, on top of very distinctive silhouettes (which is imo essential for any animation or games in general). i would like GI to have less childlike characters (but again, I know that it makes their TA bigger and sells more just like with anime). with WW, I like aesthetic but they struggle with distinctiveness imo. i can't say much about characters just by looking at their design and a lot of them look similiar
Genshin❌ WuWa ❌ BOTH:✅
🥥 lol
If you're worried about AI art, I recommend looking up Nightshade or Glaze. Both are a good coverage against AI. Glaze helps mask your art style so it can't be mimicked. Nightshade poisons the AI data so they create less accurate images. There are some really useful videos online that cover how to use both programs. Highly recommended.
🥯🥯
The improvement is definitely noticeable!!
thank you! ✨
I think on this 6:05 one the eyebrows are a bit high
What stands out most to me is how much your understanding of colors has grown. Also, I think this is my first time seeing your videos. Incredible linework!
