I agree. Max seems like one of the most genuine metal fans out there, he always talks about his love for the genre, every interview you see of him.
My band got to play with Soulfly a few years ago. I didn't get to meet Max but I really wanted to. I have followed his career since the first Sepultura albums and it was a really big deal to me to play with them.

Great job Elliot! I first met Max on the end of one of Sepultura's first headlining tours in 1990. Back then I would take a VHS camcorder to shows and try to interview bands after. Max was so kind to let me ask him some questions on camera. The next time the band played Columbus, I brought him a copy of the video, Each time they would come to town, I would provide a tape of the previous visit. I did this with a few bands but Max was super appreciative. I was supposed to do an interview with him on the bus during after a show but Zyon was sleeping (he was an infant back then) Max said he was sorry and gave me a Sepultura shirt. He didn't have to do that. Anyway, he asked for my address. A few months later I got a letter in the mail and it was from Max. He wrote me thanking me for the tapes and sent me some pictures of the band performing on stage during the Ozzy tour. He even told me that we could hang out if I could make it to Phoenix. I never took him up on that offer back then. I have visited Phoenix several times over the last few years and always think about those days. I really doubt he remembers me but that letter was one of my most proudest metal moments. I still have it to this day. Thank you for keeping metal alive for the younger generation! \\m// \\m//
Haha! Same, I watched them when Brazil won the world cup, I think los angeles, or orange county, or I don't remember in '93 or 94 uhh, ya lol. It was crazy, White zombie came out and was throwing pumpkins and also Pantera was there too. It was a crazy show, I got a black eye because some shit bird kicked me in the face while crowd surfing in the pit. Yay.

@@marijuana_memer4206 They currently aren't but maybe I could upload them at some point. They aren't a typical interview to be honest but they do show the band in a much younger state. I have been on a huge kick lately digitizing and uploading a lot of older content from various parts of my life. Maybe that will be the next one? I remember I have footage of me doing the same kind of thing with bands like Faith No More, Overkill, Testament, Wrathchild America and a few others.

Final P.S. that last bro hug was the best and almost broke me in tears because a young kid interviewing veteran icons was a plus and to top that off with him just giving him a genuine honest bro hug was so awesome and much respect. I loved that! Max is truly a respectfully kind of guy and just knows how to show love where it counts A++++++

I got to meet Max and hang on his tour bus with him and his wife, they are amazing people, very nice and welcoming. Max is a great guy and a metal legend.

Elliot's interviewing has gotten so much better over the years. I remember in the beginning he would nervously go through the questions on his list. Now he's asking followup questions and engaging with the person he's interviewing. Great work!

True story I got kicked out of a Cavalara Conspiracy show in Dallas @The Trees 2012 for having a beer without an ID. I was 32 and had some gray hair! Max saw what was going on as he was heading off the bus to go play and grabbed me by the arm and pulled me back into the show and told them that I was with them. Best show I ever saw in my entire life thus far. Thanks Max you are a real awesome human!!!

Soulfly is easily in my top 3 thrash metal bands of all time.
I have all their albums but what I remember most was buying their first one back in 1998. It was so memorable.

Your interviews are absolutely relevant. Not only you and your interviews but selection of interviews. You got some good folks or people who raise you little punk dude there raising you right your a natural.
When Sepultura first got to The States, they were staying locally, Elliot. They used Mayfair in Philly as sort of their American base camp. The NJ thrash band Faith Or Fear were sort of hosting them, like Anthrax did for Metallica.

Max is the best. I've seen pretty much everyone there is to see and there are only 2 frontmen that just by walking on stage, pits start happening. That's max Cavalera and Phil anselmo. Before they even speak a word people just go nuts. Also, who else can start band after band successfully? Totally badass. Cool interview lil punk person!
I saw the arise tour...obituary opening...was In the balcony...saw ALOT of metal shows in my time...I'm 48...so I saw it develop....but that show the pits down there were absolutely insane.....
