I think this is great! People say 2 strokes died out but they only died out of the supercross and pro motocross industry. But if anything they have grown since that time. But if Yamaha is still pushing, maybe it will encourage a japanese brand or two to get back into the 2 stroke game again?
Two strokes did not die out in US based supercross and motocross, they got (and still are) disadvantaged by the AMA rules who pact up with the "big four" manufactures who wanted to sell more expensive and complex 4 strokes. The US market/consumer was follwoing like sheep in the eraly 2000s. European manufactures are more loyal about twos strokes and never worked on enforcing such harsh rules against two strokes in the competition series. 🇪🇺😎
They never died off in Europe. Thanks to enduro and the fact that in many countries you can get a license for 125cc bike at 16. The Italians have always been innovators. Husqvarna in Varese had an highly capable, EPA/ 50 state legal four stroke, fuel injected off-road bike in 2008. BMW promptly bought the company and completely destroyed it. Hence the KTM ownership. The Italian Huskies were outstanding bikes, so it's no surprise to see this type of innovation and capability coming from an Italian manufacturer

Everything looks great but what about the electrical and wiring. Italian built cars or bikes don’t have the best rep when it comes to the electrical side of any platform.
As much as I love my old Italian husky, the electrics look like an afterthought one compared to my 22 gas gas. They definitely need special attention to work properly.
YZs finally getting a hydraulic clutch? LOL, I am in the business of selling hydraulic clutches for all dirt bikes back to 1985 that don't have one. If this bike does not come with one, give me a shout.
At 9:51, you see a picture of the XE300 without a kickstarter. Damn shame. Oh well, I just bought a Beta for this exact reason. Trust the button if you want, just stay near the truck. I think they'd been better off with a factory Lectron carb anyway. A lot of people have been burned with KTM's injection woes and Beta's oil injection bad wrap. My friends don't buy the Yamaha because it's better than a KTM/Husky/Gasgas/Beta/TM... they buy it because it's affordable and reliable. Some of them will give up affordable, but if you throw away all the advantages over a KTM or Beta, then why go through the trouble? This close... then... missed it.
If the Japanese companies won’t make the 2 strokes we want people should support the companies that do. KTM and Beta never stopped and kept developing the tech. Without KTM they probably would be gone.
Look for videos on youtube about the history of fourstroke motocross bikes. Theres a lot of talk about the yzf400 because they won the first SX race, but KTM actually where the pioneers with a fourstroke MX bike. They try to fill a gap where the japanese manufacturers have 'tunnel vision'. And now KTM (Husqvarna and GasGas, same owner basically) are dominating the 2stroke and enduro scene. Evolution while trying to please the market desire is the future I think. In dualsport, people have been waiting for that 'unicorn' 500cc single cylinder fourstroke with decent power and high durability. CRF450L looked promising but had like 16 hp in europe and was sold for 1 year maybe, WTF?
The problem is Euro 5 is only until 2024, all new models holomogated in 2024 and existing models in 2025 must be Euro 5+ which means OBD stored emissions records amongst other things. I would guess Fantic brought out the 300 to get the grandfather clause but we shall see.
Fuel injected bike so nope, it is not a "YZ300X". The ideal YZ300X will be the current bike with 300cc, a 6 speed, counterbalancer and Keihin carb. Yamaha, you have your template, now just do it. Or just go buy a TM 300N (carb'd model) a buddy has one, they are awesome bikes.
Kawasaki and Suzuki could see a serious improvement in sales if one of them comitted to bringing a 2T back into the market. Yamaha has laughed all the way to the bank by keeping 2T production alive.
As a YZ 250x owner I can say without a doubt....THE FANTIC NEEDS A 6 SPD TRANSMISSION to be a serious KTM killer. Its an amazing bike, but the tranny screws me everywhere I ride. 1st isn't low enough, and 5th isn't high enough. Its the worst of both worlds....

Tm has been doing this for years! Best bike for the money and they make a 300 sx
Yamaha needs to build a YZF 350F
yes please!
can you please share a link to the T-handles hanger?
It would do great in the US if the pricing makes sense
That's not a injector on the cylinder that is the crank pressure sensor you can see 2 injectors right on the throttle body
This close... then... missed it.
I'll buy one tomorrow if it comes to USA
I hope they bring the xxf 310 and not only the xef (enduro) 310.
Tremendous!
I'll be buying one the day it comes out if they bring them to the u.s.
Now my question is, will i be able to Frankenstein my yz250?
The problem is Euro 5 is only until 2024, all new models holomogated in 2024 and existing models in 2025 must be Euro 5+ which means OBD stored emissions records amongst other things. I would guess Fantic brought out the 300 to get the grandfather clause but we shall see.
Emissions records?!!!! DO NOT COMPLY!!!
Fuel injected bike so nope, it is not a "YZ300X". The ideal YZ300X will be the current bike with 300cc, a 6 speed, counterbalancer and Keihin carb. Yamaha, you have your template, now just do it. Or just go buy a TM 300N (carb'd model) a buddy has one, they are awesome bikes.
would trade a bike in for this to be added. great looking bike
I love Yamaha and this bike looks nice only thing is y traction control I want wheel spin and no computer bS
YESSSSS! Take my $$$
very curious to follow this!
Only one question... Is it a 6 speed box?
is this available in the US?
3:32 Dude they are putting on more tech on their two strokes then KTM.
A YZ 2 Stroke Engine Modernised is quite impressive
KTM is biggest innovator an reason more Euro brands are coming. The Japs just suck now. Vehicles. Dirtbikes. Whole bit! Facts. -NY
