TBH Dante turning in Michael is one thing but it wasn’t fully his fault Michael got sent to prison. The real blame goes to Sonny Carly and Jason. They never should’ve covered up for Michael and perjured themselves. Michael sentence proved that they don’t trust the system. If Michael had surrendered and confessed the night he killed Claudia he would’ve gotten off with self-defense. But Sonny Carly and Jason pressured him to keep his mouth shut and the guilt was eating him alive. Michael’s had a lifetime of damage all because of Sonny and Carly. I wasn’t happy with Dante when he just announced that Michael killed Claudia but he just screwed up and felt ashamed because he was really trying to take down Sonny. Michael’s rape was really Franco’s fault. He was trying to get Jason’s attention by using Michael and sent Carter after him. Everything that happened Michael is officially on Carly because she gave him to a mobster, Sonny. She’s only doing what she wants. She might be his mother but she makes a lot of stupid decisions. But I can’t stand her selfish irresponsible personality. No guilt or remorse She causes a lot of damage and blames it on everyone else. She never even gave AJ one chance with Michael ever since Michael was born she did everything she could to keep AJ away from him. AJ’s actions are what Sonny and Carly drove him to. It was Jason who was favored with a Quartermaines instead of AJ. All AJ ever wanted was to raise Michael. AJ may have done some bad things but Sonny is worse.

Sad to say but yes. Everyone saw Claudia kidnap Carly. Michael killed Claudia while protecting her and the baby. Lucky was right. Jason's judgment was clouded. He jumped the gun and tried to cover up the whole thing. Michael could have gotten off on self defense. Diane could have won the case, especially with a ton of witnesses who watched Claudia pull a gun and take Carly. Covering it up made Michael look guilty from the get go.
Dante doesn't deserve all the blame. Not at all. All of this could have been prevented if only Carly had kept her kids from the mob life. She is FULLY responsible and then to go and tell SOnny without Michaels permission is beyond disrespectful. Mother or no mother. Carly's dumb, childish, insecure mentality blames(blamed) Dante because she never liked what Dante represented... a threat to her hold over Sonny. Carly, for years, used Michael as a way to control and manipulate Sonny. The minute Dante showed up, Carly's insecurities shot to the surface like a torpedo, afraid that Sonny would favor Dante, his biological first born son, over Michael, his first adopted son. She wants Sonny to choose Michael (and her) over Dante (and Brenda, towards the end of this scene) just to reassure her of her position in Sonny's life. She wants to be first.
