This song gives me goosebumps. The lyrics and the current times we live in just create such a bold picture. Especially "sped up til we can't slow down, and at this velocity, one wrong move and we go down" hits me really hard for some reason. Probably because it always feels like everyone is moving so much faster and adapting better than I am, and I'm just being dragged along, trying my best to keep up. And if I slow down I'll be left behind, but at this speed I have no control, so I just have to hope there are no curves on this road we're careening down.
As man who lived in oppressive government this song has a deeply meaning. The will of our people is so broken for all the death and don't get me wrong I said "lived" because I had to run away from there, but my family is still there and is very hard.
I believe that I'll not live enough to see my country free.
That sucks but I believe this song exists because it’s trendy for rich capitalists to tell other well off white people they are the resistance if they buy their stuff. I’m all for true insurrection against corrupt dangerous dictatorships all over the world. But I’m also not confident this actually what they are singing about. It’s the imaginary oppression they think exists in the only country with freedom of speech and the most wealthy and easiest to gain wealth in the world. What country did you leave you don’t mind me asking?
@@lordcavalier9688 I'm from Venezuela.
@@lordcavalier9688 as me i'm live in indonesian, this song related to condition my country now :(
In ‘developed’ countries it is an illusion of freedom and liberty.
@@lordcavalier9688 uhhhh the problems they speak of are very real in this country. Workers exploited, endless wars, lack of healthcare. If you think class issues aren't a probem my guy go to Appalachia and look at all the working class people addicted to opiates, and too poor to eat. If you can't see the drastic change in the quality of life since decades ago then I'm afraid you have been sold a bill of goods to make you believe the very real class issues aren't a real issue. Other countries aren't the only ones suffering, it's also american people who have no say in what the people who rule this country try to do. I don't know about you but I've been alive for a long time and I grew up in a small town in sc and these problems I experienced firsthand.
ty for existing, Rise Against
Thank you for always/ consistently releasing songs and videos with a deeper message/ social commentary. This is how art improves societies.
As a drummer the drum beat at 4:23 is just so awesome. How it has the snare hits like in a standard 4/4 beat but it's incorporated to 6/4 or 3/4 (not sure)
Rise Against played Dallas last night (2024) and i got to set up for the gig, a night I'll never forget. Got to set up drums, among lighting and such. Amazing
I think that RA are getting back to old style from their earlier albums - and it is a good change!
I am a 59 year old punk, blue collar worker, this song means a lot
No other band has consistently written about the counter culture as much as these guys. They are a treasure.
May I introduce you to my old friend Propagandhi?
Not true. Rise Against grew from the punk rock scene. They're just mainstream and you haven't delved into the genre. Bad Religion, NOFX, Anti-Flag, Propagandhi, Strike Anywhere, Dead Kennedys, The Clash, Pennywise. Delve into the genre because what you said is totally inaccurate :)
They used to be counter-culture, but now they are just repeating the mainstream media and radical leftists.
@@AlmostaFlipinSkater not sure I would include Pennywise and their Monster Energy sponsored guitars on the list of counter culture bands though haha
@@sherockow your misinterpretation of Rise Against and inability to see through the bullshit of Trump does not speak about Rise Against. It speaks volume on you. Rise Against never sung about what you think they sung about. Trump played you and your misinterpretation of Rise Against also played you
I faintly remember this band from when I was a kid, I have been obsessed the past 2 weeks with this band.
Ya‘all young people listen close to the message behind these great lyrical words.🙏🏽heartfelt respect.
Respect
the whole global workng class needs to listen to the lyrics of this song...! how long till they wake up again...?
Now this is music with meaning
less meaning and more like hits you over the back of the head lol, its kinda blunt
@@Schaden-freude Same here. They were once more subtile with their lyrics...This is...Well idk what to say.
all music has meaning, quit being elitist
@@Schaden-freude Yeah it is pretty blunt but I still appreciate how they give voice to global issues
@@adlerfront07 Sattelite is a great example of that, one of my favourite songs but still, this song reminds me of "Re education (through labour)" it is also really blunt about it's lyrics and explict similarly but I still love the song
One of the best Rise Against songs in a while, yall killed it guys.
Holy shit this is the best song they've released in years. Strong Siren Song of the Counter Culture vibes on this, and some of the best lyrics since Endgame
Liberalism is not the counter-culture. It is the culture. LOL
@@bobfrapples1208 Bad bot
@@blahthebiste7924No logical response so blame it on "bots". Ok NPC
@@bobfrapples1208 Only a bot would be so obviously ignorant of the fact that "Counter Culture" refers to an album title in this context

I don't think I've ever been this excited for an album to come out. Everything that has come out so far has been an absolute masterpiece. This is Rise Against at it's best.
Goosebumps, tears from joy, shivers down the spine, worried about the world, happy and so damn pumped! These are all the things I'm feeling right now, if it's not what music was meant for, then I don't want to listen to anything else. THANK YOU GUYS, THIS IS A MASTERPIECE
What a fucking masterpiece. I got goosebumps when the drums picked up speed. Thanks for lighting the way guys! Love you all, and everyone here!
Unrelated but your username is fucking great.
@@Alexander.Lockwood Thank You!
I totally agree masterpiece. Can't wait to see them in August.
I got absolutely hyped when I heard the drums pick up.
th-cam.com/video/UyTLzUBDzYY/w-d-xo.html
gotta hear this one !!! :)
As soon as the guitar and drums hit at 00:29 my gut went "oh yes rise against still sounds the same!!!"
Edit: the message this song sends is so strong and accurate. We've become so soft and just allow more and more control over our lives to the point where we are cogs in a machine... unless we do something about it
To whom ever told rise to go back to their roots, i praise thee! The 3 songs for the new album are pulling me back to the band that was my only band in my late teens. Love it😍
Let's use our numbers for change. It's time.
You have no numbers. Radical leftists are the minority. Rise Against are radical leftists.
@@Travis371 umm why are you even on here? Just go away and let us fans enjoy.
The last time that worked was in the 60s when Martin Luther was popular and before that the Labor Union that damn near got bombed at Blair Mountain in 1921

You can stand with us or stand aside
This is refreshing. This sounds like RPM meets the unraveling
I love it
I don't see any Unraveling or RPM here... maybe the intro, but lyrically it's nowhere near as strong and the chorus especially is weak. IMO of course
@@MrRyanxdavey was meaning more instrumentally than lyrically. Lyrically it’s like appeal to reason to me
@@michaelprehm8594 yeah I can see that. Unfortunately Tim's vocals are shot, the cost of going hard all those years
@@MrRyanxdavey yeah, but he’s still going for it which is kind of bittersweet. Regardless we’re lucky to have had Tim around so long. His voice and style is so distinct.. even as it’s changed I’m still glad to hear it
Verses are RPM-like forsure but I think Tim's shot voice has kinda forced him to have those Appeal to Reason choruses which just make me 🤮 but yeah, I appreciate 2020s Rise Against far more than those of 10 years ago. Revolutions Per Minute is the best album ever
Having listened through the album in full now, this remains (as expected) far and away the best track on the release by a huge margin for me! It jumped into my top ~5 RA songs from the first listen and will stay there
Jesus...this hit me harder, now that Colombia is entering the 9th day of protest.
Columbia south America or British Columbia just curios and how it going over there were you are
@@flycraps2456 Colombia. The country. That is written with an O, not a U.
British Columbia is in Canada.
@@rasjeff1 yeah I was curious cause I'm in said country of canada and said province but nevertheless whats going on there haven't gotten much word on places such as that since covid crap dominates all the news outlets basically.
Otro colombiano aquí! A resistir hermano!
What are they about. Is it the pro communists wanting more communism cause they drank the worlds tv propaganda or is pro freedom types not wanting to live under a dictator?
They catches me with their first songs and catches me against and again. What a blast of rock music. I love this band for their meaningful lyrics.
Best song from Nowhere Generation for me

gotta hear this one !!! :) !!!
Love this, if we all just stood up against them we could win, too bad most people are too manipulated to see this. My mom thinks the only reason to live is to endure. Oh how I wish she would live for more. Live for happiness at least. She thinks her life will start when she dies, but she could be enjoying it now.
You all might hate me for saying this, but this song gave me goosebumps I haven't felt since I first discovered Rise Against as a teenager who hated the world and wanted to become an agent of change. I got Sufferer vibes and I'm loving this so, so fucking much
Same here. The stuff they put out recently was too tame for me. But this song brought back that energy that we know and love from them.
@@lahcenebelbachir7929 I can't say I hate any of their sounds, they're all special... But something about this piece right here brings back that energy from the day
@@rosarioyeen1371 Me neither. But yeah, this one really brought back some old memories.
This comment probably captures what the Punk scene stands for ❤️
Ditto! First RA song in a long time that I've loved so much it's been almost on repeat for a week (literally 10+ listens a day 😂)
I'm listening to you guys since about 14 years. Still falling in love with your music again and again with every new song. Thank you for what you're doing. Thank you for everything. 🖤
RiseAgainst always make me feel alive, even in darkest days when i feel like world is going to fall apart
RISE AGAINST is a genre of its own, Tim still sounds like he did 20 years ago and their still the kings of the breakdown bridge!
This is what I was waiting for from Rise Against
I hope to see you live in Europe in the future! Can't wait! Radios are playing your songs finally! You made it, you brought good music in the radio!
The sampling of La Marseillaise adds so much to this! I was surprised that I recognized it at the beginning.
This has no doubt locked in top spot on my Spotify 100 most played for the year. It's been on repeat for me non-stop for four days now.
Best RA track in a decade, the galloping drums are reminiscent of Sufferer
in 2021 this is an anthem , ive played it 20 times already, rise against!
Wow really this was awesome message and song.
Rise against ...my childhood ... My teenage ... Even know as a adult ... Always with me u guys mean a lot to me am from a place where am just waiting to die listening to you music i only wish my place of birth where i can was normal so i can live in peace
Breathtaking song that makes you think about humanity and what we actually need to do on this planet. Be human.
th-cam.com/video/UyTLzUBDzYY/w-d-xo.html
gotta hear this one !!! :) !!!
the message is much more than that. It's about defying the system which exploits us for money and breaks our spirit with the constant grind getting us nowhere. It's about uniting as people, as workers to look out for each other and create a future where suffering is minimized.
“They vilify us, the scoundrels do, when there is only this difference; they rob the poor under the cover of Law…and we plunder the rich under the protection of our own courage.”
-Samuel Bellamy 🏴☠️
THIS IS THE RISE AGAINST WE HAVE BEEN MISSING! THIS IS SOME SSOCC VIBES! LOVE IT.
I felt an awesome The Sufferer & The Witness vibe ♥️
One thing about rise against is consistency, every song will always be as amazing as the last.
Every song sounds exactly the same, so if you like one song then good news but if you don't well they have nothing for you lol
@@AuditMadness me when i dont *really* listen to songs:
Im still a huge fan of the Rise Against from my first and favorite album of theirs, RPM! But my goodness... How do these guys continue to drop Anthem after Anthem without falling off? Atleast for me i feel that they adapt to the times without abandoning what makes them, well them i guess... All albums have a similar sound from one to the next yet, The Unraveling is completely different from The Black Market (if that makes any sense).. This is the reason they're hands down my favorite band! About to see them live for my 25th time in October at Aftershock and this day can't get here soon enough since its been 3 years since I've seen them live.
Rise Agaisnt is one of these bands that can make music that sound like their old albums but still feel fresh
Now this is Rise Against! Much better than last single.~

We have the numbers now It's all just a constant illusion Of control

Soooooo much better then the title track, I’m officially on board for this
I’ve pretty much had this on repeat for the last two days
Here we go again another amazing song with a great and powerful message!!!
This might just be my favorite Rise Against song. Checks all the boxes of things I love about their music.
Rise Against is back at it ♥ That mix tho, i completely love it
Great song! Reminds me of the good old days with a beer on the bench in summer

I drew blood biting my own tongue for the first time ever today. Listening to this song and reading the lyrics. And making the mistake of diving into the comments.

As a trans person in america I've felt afraid but if we unite as humans, as workers, we can look out for each other. We can turn things around. Our destiny doesn't have to be death and a dying planet.
