I love the lyrics to this song. Especially the ‘we climb these burning ladders.’ That part is so powerful in my mind. The way I interpret it is that the ladders are the ways of life we are taught to follow, the plans we are taught to make, and the futures we are taught to build, none of which will work in this new day and age. We climb the ladders that are breaking and burning before us, without realizing that there’s a new set of stairs to climb to make the world better.
God it makes me fucking happy to know these guys still are doing their thing. Will be a sad day when we gotta say goodbye to the band. Like everything we've known.

@@dontyouworryaboutit_ Not sure if it's just TH-cam, but the audio mixing sounds much more like Black Market than Appeal to Reason to me. Appeal to Reason had a very full sound, with Tim front and center and very clear backup vocals. This is thinner imo, and the drums and rythm guitar sound more front and center
I dont get that vibe but considering Sudden Life is one of their worst songs, that isnt the best. This is better than SL but definitely a disappointment after thr banger that Broken Dreams Inc was.

I have a photo collection book from a concert a few years back. A couple of the pages are dedicated to personal stories of how the band has been a part of their lives. The email used in the address line is band@riseagainst.com, I dunno if this is still active though. I tried verifying this email still existed with a Google search, but didn't find anything. Trusting email addresses from strangers on the internet isn't always a safe choice (especially with personal information), so I'd recommend messaging the band's official social media accounts (like their Instagram). A lot of bands use it as a way to connect with fans, and I think they'd love to hear your story. TL;DR : message their official social media From one fan to another, peace.

As my best friend told me our generation is this way because we were promised change our entire lives, and nothing has changed. This song puts that feeling into an anthem, and I absolutely love it. We are the nowhere generation, our future was stolen from us, and no one but us can fix it.
@@brennanbrewer7522 Agreed. Wolves had an odd production that I didn't really like. Not to mention the last song Miracles had the volume oddly low so you had to turn it up.
@@brennanbrewer7522 i enjoyed wolves it sent the message. Thats what i love about this band they always have a message. And even at nearly 30 years old i dont feel like this is a message i couldnt say im a part of. Cause it speaks true. And thats the change of tone i feel here. This song (and maybe the whole album?) is a statement of a hard truth, putting words to something that many have felt all their lives. And kinda bringing a light, a voice, to the issue and giving that cartharsis of saying 'yes. What youve felt for a long time, those things youve noticed? How it doesnt add up to what you were told growing up? No you arent wrong. You arent over reacting. You are just fucking right." And i gotta admit that message? Its fucking cathartic as hell.
@@drizzt102 i think this sends a huge message. They directly show the Lost Generation those who fought in WW1 and were used as pawns. the Lost generation were on of the first to challenge the status qou as the youth are today. There is also a sentiment of Lost Futures and a Future that the youth have been fighting to regain. everyone will pull something out of this song. I think it is also a statement that the youth will no longer just listen to punk songs but will take a stand and fight to make the world a better place. I think thats a stance we all have to take. Wolves felt pure rage and a call out to Trump this feels much more active.
Tomorrow my boyfriend will have an exam for his study, this will could help him to be optimistic to pass the exam. Love him so much, i hope he reads this comment. Love You Mochi 💪❤
If you really think about it, this could be an anthem for any generation. Every generation that has come along, has one that came before it that did not understand their language or their nicknames, didn't understand their music or their dancing, didn't understand their virtues or their ideals or their choices or anything they did because they did it different. A timeless track if ever there was one.
I think this is for the 80's that now are parents, the generation moved fast, all the tech and slang, they are the no where generation, as the modern kids/parents live comfortably leaving the older generation nowhere
While some of it is true of any younger generation coming up in the world built by the previous, I think this is particularly relevant to current younger generations (Millennials, Gen Z) who feel that they're growing up into a bleak and ruined world, the promises that had been made to them when young not holding up. Were told when young that they could have prosperity if they work hard for it, but despite hard work they are struggling immensely against an economic system stacked against them - "the finish line kept moving," "The smoke on the horizon was a burning promised land." The first generation in recent US history (certainly since WWII) to not have better economic prospects than their parents had.
@@quillmaurer6563 not argument here. I merely meant that every generation since the "Greatest Generation" have had all these things mention in the song. The language, the different rules, the nicknames. etc. But you are absolutely right. As a father to 3 Gen Z's, one of them trans, I fear for their future. I will do all in my power to make sure they succeed and have the knowledge that I was never taught at their ages.
@@adambooker01 Those parts you mention, the language, ideologies, nicknames, and other culture aspects, I agree have been new with each generation, often making previous generations uncomfortable. I suspect not just those since the Greatest Generation, but that's probably been true to at least some extent for all of history. There's always this mindset of "kids these days are horrible and will ruin everything," I've seen examples of that line of thinking, newspaper editorials, dating back throughout US history and all the way back to Ancient Rome. Other parts of this song I think are more specific to more recent generations though, the "burning promised land" and "finish line kept moving" parts, which is about how Millennials and Gen Z were told from a young age that hard work would lead to prosperity, as had been true for past generations, but feels far less true now - living wages, homeownership, the financial ability to raise a family, plus a lot of other concerns, are challenges faced by current young people that no recent generation - none since the Greatest grew up in the Great Depression (and even that was relatively short lived compared with the more recent economic stratification that has been a gradually-worsening trend for decades) have had to struggle more than their parents for such things.
I absolutely love this song I’ve generally listened to it a ton since it’s come out. Can’t wait for the full album, I ’m so glad they’ve never disappointed me with any of their songs/album’s. It's 12:50pm here in Argentina, I can't help but being hyped in a crazy way!!! Love you, guys! You're great! 🤟🤟🤟
Reading through all these comments...I just want you all to know... I feel all your feelings. This band has some magic in them to bring out true emotion to all their loving fans. Been doing it for 2 decades now.
This is the anthem, throw all your hands up... but for real what an incredibly catchy anthem for me
Damn, I've listened to this band since early 2000's and they still put up relevant music and lyrics. Kudos to Tim and the rest of RA.
I’m so glad Tim went to that vocal coach and got himself the help he had been putting off. Between this and broken dreams, there’s a real bite back in his voice. Well done
I couldn't disagree more. Technically his singing is pretty good on this one, but bite? Not even a bit. He's never sounded so sterile and boring. Go listen to Tip the Scales and then try and say he has bite on this track. He sounds clean af, but no soul.
@@MrRyanxdavey he lost a lot of his bite, and it was especially jarring on Broken Dreams Inc, so hearing some of it back is refreshing. I think the singing isn't as strong because this song is softer
@@MrRyanxdavey he’s not 24 running off pure adrenaline anymore.
@@conors4430 I get that. Doesn't mean his voice has its bite back though.
@@MrRyanxdavey or you know, it could be subjective. And not a fact
Rise against has kept me alive the past 8 years. Thank you. Thank you so much. I think I'm finally going up now. Been down for years. But this week has been good and I finally got diagnosed and meds and help that might finally help. Thank you Rise Against.
Same theyve helped a lot. Stay strong
The muse of our age, a voice of freedom , and a testament to our conviction!
not this song. Doesn't have a lot to say, unlike most their songs.
I don't know a band that has written like Rise Against, thank you guys for saying the right words.
“Not the names we’ve been given” really hits home
I feel exactly the same way.
hits real close with the trans crowd for sure, (am bi-gender, I've taken up a second name that reflects my fem-side)
@@DisKorruptd It really does, these guys have been an amazing help to me personally as a Trans person, especially songs like this and Make It Stop
Especially hits close if you're not white but your parents gave you a white name [out of fears of discrimination, but still] which you no longer identify with for multiple reasons.
@@hawktalon7890 On a way longer timescale a lot of "white" names aren't even white... they're roman or christian names deployed to create cultural homogeny in Europe over the last 2000 years
I love the lyrics to this song.
I'm a simple man. I see Rise Against, I click.
A very reasonable man indeed😌
Freaking same.... rise against.... in here for it.. say no more fam
God it makes me fucking happy to know these guys still are doing their thing. Will be a sad day when we gotta say goodbye to the band. Like everything we've known.
This is so good! I have this and Whispering Wolf by SLT on repeat all day :) !!!
Lyrics
[Chorus]
We are the nowhere generation
We are the kids that no one wants
We are a credible threat to the rules you set
A cause to be alarmed
We are not the names that we've been given
We speak a language you don't know
We are the nowhere Generation
The nowhere gеneration
Oh-oh-uh-oh
[Verse 1]
And one day
All the walls will comе down
All the doors will open
All the roads will lead home
But right now
We are spiraling down
And the longer we wait
The further we go
[Pre-Chorus 1]
I know we're slipping through the cracks now
No place left on your map now to call home
[Chorus]
We are the nowhere generation
We are the kids that no one wants
We are a credible threat to the rules you set
A cause to be alarmed
We are not the names that we've been given
We speak a language you don't know
We are the nowhere Generation
The nowhere generation
Oh-oh-uh-oh
[Verse 2]
And for your sweat you'll be rewarded
They told us every day
There's a land of milk and honey
And it's not that far away
But the finish line kept movin'
And the promises wore thin
And the smoke on the horizon
Was the burning promised land
[Pre-Chorus 2]
In this place you'll still be somewhere
But they sold it out from under us
Our voices all ignored
[Chorus]
We are the nowhere generation
We are the kids that no one wants
We are a credible threat to the rules you set
A cause to be alarmed
We are not the names that we've been given
We speak a language you don't know
We are the nowhere Generation
The nowhere generation
Oh-oh-uh-oh
[Bridge]
And yet we climb these burning ladders
Still we raise for them the hammers
Swinging low
"And what exactly are we after?", they will ask
And we will answer
[Chorus]
We are the nowhere generation
We are the kids that no one wants
We are a credible threat to the rules you set
A cause to be alarmed
We are not the names that we've been given
We speak a language you don't know
We are the nowhere generation
Oh-oh-uh-oh
(We are the nowhere generation)
Oh-oh-uh-oh
(We are the nowhere generation)
We are the nowhere generation
We are the nowhere generation
The nowhere generation
For the second pre-chorus I'm fairly sure it's "This place used to be somewhere"
@@JimmyR42 in their defence they didn't use to be, I remember checking the day this video dropped and there were no lyrics. They must have added them recently.
Soild tune
Rise Against has been with us during every modern crisis and that says A LOT about this band.
I like how the TV started off with two letters: RA (Rise Against). Then it pans out to Nowhere Generation. Nice touch!
Just in the moment I thought the same, I saw your comment lol 100% agree!
I've listened to this most days since it was released. It puts into words a lot of what I've been feeling recently, like the best of Rise Against it makes me feel angry, but also comforted, and seen.
you guys are still going strong after all these years thanks rise against, for carrying me through my teens into my young adult life saw you guys in phoenix a few years ago and i cant wait to do it again

I love you guys. You save my life, every day when I struggle with my depression again. Your music is medicine for my soul. ❤️ Stay healthy guys!! #love
I always liked how rise against music changed with time but never totally abandon their sound that they’re none for
Rise against never dissapoints me with their songs! I have been a fan since 2014 and they have always been helping me out throughout all these hard times of all years! Thank you Rise Against!
These guys are one of those bands I always wanted to see and always missed their shows for one reason or another. Finally saw them tonight in Melbourne Australia and they did not disappoint. Awesome live band.
Thank you for giving me the motivation to keep fighting and rising against what’s necessary. Lots of love from ECUADOR 🇪🇨 ❤️

Maybe it’s the PS5-hunting skills talking, but I’ve never pre-ordered an album this fast in my life. Between this, Broken Dreams Inc., and the prospect that this is going to be a “Dynamic” album from the press release that dropped this afternoon, I am absolutely stoked to hear this next record for the first time.
Let’s go!!!!!
Wait, there’s a new album coming out? Where can you preorder it at?

We Love Rise Against 🤘
That we do
That’s true
Tim's voice sounds its strongest and cleanest since the early years. Glad to see the vocal coaching pay off (not that his voice was ever bad, it just had wear and tear from years of recording and touring). Looking forward to the new album. This is a promising start! 🤘
Rise Against have released new music, the Snyder Cut has been released, a new season of Taskmaster starts tonight. Today is the best day in a long time

I’m so glad these guys keep making music.
Fuck yes
This very well might be my pick for best band ever.
This is the music I need right now. Thank you all. Been listening to you for awhile. I met Tim before but he probably wouldn't remember me. Hell, I was so nervous that I didn't have much to say haha. But music is good for the soul, especially this music cause it sums up how I feel.
I’m getting a black market vibe from this, kind of sounds like sudden life
All I hear is Appeal to Reason. Both Tim’s vocals and the mixing. Not a bad thing, that’s probably my second favorite of theirs.
@@ultime321 Totally fair. It's Wolves level imo, that is to say, listenable but not amazing
@@ultime321 haha I'm glad they have a lot of range, because I like this one more than Broken Dreams!
A just voice anarchy, Rise never has changed. Not a single one of their songs have been bad. Incredible through and through and the most relatable message to the majority of the human race. The greatest band in history, hands down. This isn't music. This is the voice of the people.

idk about the offspring, i get closer to thousand foot krutch"s b sides myself
One day this video will say 12 years ago
Kind of a more mainstream sound than my taste but you are right the chorus is pretty good lyric and melody wise.
To me its more like simple plan.
Well, since The Future is Now is basically the Offspring interpretation of Savior, I guess this is justified.
Although personally it reminds me more of All Time Low, A Day To Remember, Neck Deep, Knuckle Puck or something more pop punk even
I'm 40 years old and so the lyrics "we are a no where generation, we are the kids that no one wants", is changed for me to i am the man that no one wants. Thanks to my wife leaving me, as my mom did as my friends have through the years and as foster care taught me. Everyone leaves no one will ever be there for me.
I wish I knew a way to contact them... I have a long huge sob story about how much I love them.
TL;DR : message their official social media
From one fan to another, peace.
@@CursedCarrot Hey Jake!!! Thank you so much for this insight. I really appreciate it, it's really cool that they included everything in their merchandise ♡

One of the best Punk Rock bands nowadays
As my best friend told me our generation is this way because we were promised change our entire lives, and nothing has changed. This song puts that feeling into an anthem, and I absolutely love it. We are the nowhere generation, our future was stolen from us, and no one but us can fix it.
I never comment. And I rarely ever love a song from the first listen. But this one has been on repeat my entire workday. ♡
Thanks for being that one never dying voice of my generation Tim !
I hope this album isn't as soft as this song. Wolves had so much energy and I hope they continue the momentum.
I personally like the sound of this more then wolves. Wolves fell flat and just sounded tired to me.
You are just fucking right."
And i gotta admit that message? Its fucking cathartic as hell.
god I hope this album is nothing like Wolves.
I'm 60 some years old and have lots of their songs on my ipod, never heard this one, just added it! :-)

Love you too hiu cantik saya😘😘😘
Hopefull despare. An anthem of a whole generation.
