It's almost like the manufacturers are just coming up with more and more dependant systems to tie the dpf system into increasing the points of failure and therefore raking it in when you take it to the dealership for repair.
Expect cars to fail their dpf regens in the near future for the following reasons:
    1. Interior light has blown
    2. Ashtray is full
    3. Cup in cup holder is not located securely

More like that they want cars to die early now so you decide to buy an EV and they don't get fined for not selling enough of them. Sadly there is no way back from EV crap now.

Why on earth the A/C would need to be gassed to do the DPF regen is beyond me. Especially as there isn't any codes pointing in the direction that an AC problem is causing it.

Wow Jimmy you're the master. That was one of the best diagnostic videos I've ever seen. You don't get enough recognition for you're work and especially passing on the knowledge.

Used to work with a guy in the RAF who's nickname was "JimmyTheBiz" ....this is your new nickname Jimmy. Brilliant diagnosis and to think how much money that Honda owner has probably had to spend unnecessarily because it wasn't diagnosed properly in the first place. Great job fella.

Just in case it helps you out, the following sensor is a perfectly functional alternative to these Honda pressure sensors.
They are designed for Kia/Hyundai but they work the same and have the same connector.
GSF stock them for around £80. A significant saving - the only difference is the fact they don't have the bracket integrated. That is all the difference is on the Honda type.
    Hella part number = 6PP009409-291

I went through all this on a facelift 2012 Honda accord i-dtec dpf hell 18 months ago i cleaned the dpf on and off the car replaced the cracked egr pipe (common issue)
    Replaced the coolant switch
    Changed the oil twice
Changed the differential pressure switch off another part-out-car
Aircon checked and worked didnt make a difference
Injectors worked fine and not leaking.
So i gave up in the end i went back to petrol and part ex'd it for a 2019 civic fk6 turbo130 (petrol) none PPF filter and its never given me a moments hassle even after 28k miles, just well serviced with liqui moly and added ceretec (i personally recommend).

Money saved in diesel Vs petrol is negated by modern diesel problems. Now cheaper to buy and run a petrol vehicle.

Great info there. The Honda ac system isn't great for faults at that age so it could get expensive.

Using my iCarsoft Pro computer the forced regen (which didn't work, have been trying to contact Jimmy) requires A/C on, bonnet open and headlights on high beam. Sat at 3,000rpm for 15 minutes then down to 1,500rpm and then idle, didn't extinguish the DPF! symbol. Didn't know about the oil level thing, will have to check it. There was a service bulletin in the first few years of the iDTEC engine that updated the ECU to reduce or prevent oil dilution. Should have been applied if the car was dealer serviced.

Its a joke isnt it. i dont agree when people gut them out but when they charging 700 quid for a sensor and you can get them gutted for £350 is it any wonder people just do it no more blocking no more cleaning etc... to be fair to the old honda at least it needed a new dpf after so many years not like the land rovers they need a new one ever 2 years lol

Hi, I have a honda civic 2018 diesel, recently did a forced regen on it, which was successful but got another fault code P24c6 soot sensor temperature circuit after 2 days 😢, when i checked online I suspect my pm sensor has gone faulty. Does anyone know who sell this sensor cheap? I could find only in hondadirectpart but its £700 plus which I think is a ripoff.

This was a weird one! So many unrelated things interfering with passive regen, and the end result is always the same - buy a new DPF. What a wicked business this has become!

There was a time Honda made sensible cars.
They software could have been made so that the fans come on without anything to do with the A/C.
One of the worst ideas I've seen yet as a regen prerequisite🙈🙈🙄

They do. Turn the AC off and run the interior fan and on my Honda the front fans come on.

There must be some kind of independent board we can appeal to of manufacturers or something because these manufacturers are taking the piss at the point honestly😂 A/C preventing a DPF regen, what’s near rear passenger footwell seatbelt not fastened to correct tension..for gods sake

I like Honda's but their prices are insane. About 40 years ago I wanted a replacement seat for a Honda motorbike. It was a very basic seat, flat plastic base, simple level foam and covered in vinyl. The price even then was £350.
I bought a new pattern replacement from a well known shop for £50.
It was identical in every way including the quality.
