I sell Mercedes for a living and I can assure you they go for a lot less than $15,000. We can sell a C-Class, S-Class, GLK-Class, a newer E-Class all day long but at the end of the day the BEST European automobile ever made was the W211 E-Class 2007-2009. They are rock solid, reliable, and damn built!! We’ve sold used ones to college students for $7,000 and less and they come back to the dealer for something as simple as an oil change and they never break the bank, and they never break down!! They’re actually quite simple to work on yourself to! I personally drive a silver 07 W211 with the M272 and the sport package and my balance shaft was replaced at 43,000 miles from the previous owner in 2009. She’s got 157,000 miles and is still going strong!! Do you think a 157k Toyota or Honda will look as good 12 years down the road?? Think about it. And if anything, there’re more expensive but it’s less car. The best engineering for the money. If you see a steal on a W211, don’t pass it up. I basically stole mine because I only paid $4,500 with all service records and a clean title, so far it’s been strong! Possibly one of if not the best car on the road. I’m absolutely head over heals for this car!! My favorite of all time
The 211 is definitely the best Mercedes for the money at the moment! We love our 211's and plan on buying more in the future!
Mine is a 2005, it has been amazing also for being reliable here in the UK.
What about an 06 e350?
I bought an 07 E350 car was a one owner bought and serviced at the same dealership its whole life all service records all maintenance performed. It did have a transmission put in at about 180k motor and transmission mounts replaced. Cars up to 202k runs and drives like brand new only thing ive really done was changed the plugs and air filters guess thats a tune up on this car. Wish I could add pics im aiming for 400 k on this car
So is it advisable to flush tranny fluid at 145k miles after purchase on one of this?
The final update cars 2007 - 2009 are not affected by the balance shaft, they are the most reliable W211 to own.
One of my favorite MB's of all time! My family has an 07 with 145K miles and it runs like a dream! Hoping to get one of my own soon

I’m in college and i drive and DIY my 2008 E350. So far so good! Just gotta change the radiator hoses and maybe soon the radiator if the hoses don’t fix it. The 722.9 issues scare me, but some guy on mbforums DIY’d the conductor plate for around $300! You just need to send the conductor plate to a trusted shop once it’s removed. After that it’s plug and play. Besides that, these cars are as reliable as a Lexus. For less than a lexus. And better made. These are real Mercedes made cars, not Toyota Camry’s with a different shell.

I have a 2006 e350 4matic as well and with 64k miles and now its has 70k miles after 1 year. Hoping it would last without breaking the bank.
Bought my ‘07 e350 (Clean tittle, 140k miles) for $4,500. Running & driving great thus far. Good daily.
I found an 09. Im excited! 7000 not bad
Going to make my 2006 e350 lux package perform and look like e63 amg w e63 face and bumper conversion, added a turbo, wider exhaust, larger transmission fluid pan, cold air intake, and tune.
The sunroof has a recall going on. Affected the CLK. E , CL and C class from these era.
Pure class have one 2007 and it’s pure elegance.....looks almost new bought it with 35k miles ...a German tank.
5 years later… has it been reliable?
amazing car got it for 4k, thus far only have put 2k miles on it so far w a few months of owning it only had to replace the battery and the bumper seal to the trunk cuz it was missing when i got it.
As long as they don’t have the air ride suspension, there is a reason why the drop in value so much lol

One important thing to mention to perspective buyers is to be aware of the potential balance shaft and idler gear failure in 2007 e class models. Some M272 (V6) and M273 (V8) engines have the defective part and cost upwards of 5k to fix. My Indy says they see the M Class mainly affected. Thankfully my 2007 C class was made after the issue was addressed.

AyoJay Will the 212’s are awesome too but it’s definitely hard to find a clean low mileage 211 E550. They are out there though. Eventually one will pop up

I have a 2001 c320 i've had since 2008 but am in the market for a; you guessed it, a 2009 w211 E class. Don't sleep on these cars like the C and E class. They can dance. They can be sporty if you drive em like that and they can be stately and reserved when you want to take it easy like just going for a Sunday drive. It just wants to keep going and is very reliable. Yea there were things that needed to be replaced like sensors and wires and plugs and normal maintenance items. But overall it is reliable and reasonably cheap to maintain. I've thought about a 5 series but they are too problematic and a little more costly to maintain. But kept up very nice this car can last another 7 yrs at least. I wouldn't buy a new mercedes benz, i'd always go for a used/pre owned.
Would love to see a comparison between this and an LS430. Yes, they are different cars, just that I own a Lexus LS430 and would love to see comparison specially the maintenance cost after 150K miles... My 2005 LS430 now has 193K miles and it has it's share of high maintenance and everything is very expensive to repair. Engine and Transmission is solid, but the other "small" things are annoying and expensive.

I’m planning to get the 2009 E280 3.0 V6. It comes with the AMG bodykit package. According to Marty Key in the comments section, the final update cars 2007-2009 are not affected with the balance shaft. I read that for all the V6 M272 engines (incl the facelift models) are affected with the balance shaft. What’s your opinion and do you think it’s worth getting it compared to the E200K models?
The balance shaft issue was corrected with the 2007-up M272 engines.

It's 2024 I have 2006 with timing chain balance Shaft work under warranty complete. Runs great at 168,000mi.

@@Spartansrule118 Built like a tank, it has over 200K kms on it, but that's nothing in Australia. So long as you keep the maintenance up to them, they go forever.

5'8 and 5'10. We've had people in the car that are 6'3 and they fit comfortably. I recommend trying it out for yourself before you buy one.

Saranda Automarket if you give the vin to the dealer, I’m sure they could check it for you. I believe it was a problem up until a certain production date

There are websites you can run the vin and it will tell you. Google is your friend

the only W211 that I would buy would be the E320 Bluetec....LOL ....however, I still drive my W124 400E a LOT!!!!! ( up to 210200 miles today)
