Dan The Man 2.0 not.a movie but I'm talking about the DOOM and Wolfenstein video games, where usually the plot of the games were to kill demons and nazis.
"The hammers will never fall upon an empty chamber. The bullets will never miss their mark and no wound they give will be anything less than fatal" Not something you give to a man who has a bottomless well of hate to draw from, and certainly not to someone you disrespect in any way.
The Saint of Killers can literally kill anything. His hate was so cold that he froze over Hell when he entered it after he died. Satan tried to beat the hate out of the Saint but couldnt. The Angel of Death bestowed his powers on the Saint along with melting down his Sword of Vengeance to be remade into his Walker Colt pistols. He never misses with those guns and they can shoot through anything. He was shooting through tank armor in the comic to kill the men inside. The US Army dropped a nuke on him. After the smoke cleared, all that was left was a giant crater with the Saint standing in the middle of it. He looked up and said "Not enough gun." and walked out. Dont know about you but this dude is who I think of when I think of badass.

@C D True to some degree but I think it was just a perfect storm. You have a man without a soul and is nothing but hate and you have an archangel that is tired of his duty so he hands his mantle down to someone that already does not mind killing. I do not think anyone realized how total BS the Saint would become in the end.

I like the shot of Satan right after Eugene says "you're a bad person". The subtle nod of acknowledgement, the eyes hinting at a moment of shame, his mouth almost uttering a confession of "yeah", ears down like a scolded dog......the devil sure can deceive, can't he?
You only see the devil once in the comic. Saint of killers freezes hell over and the devil tortures him until he agrees to leave.
Then once he leaves Hell, Satan insults him and the Saint kills him for it.

In the comics the saints revolvers are forged from the angel of death's sword and he becomes the Angel of death/Patron saint of killers, he can even kill God. His soul was so filled with hate that it froze over hell when he first arrived that's the gist of it to get the full scope of his character you'll have to read up on him

Personally, I think Iggy Pop would have made a perfect 'Saint of Killers'. He's a lot like the character in the graphic novels. No Hell freezing over? Arseface is well done though. Also, I don't remember Hitler being in the comic.

Not only was the Saint pissed he hit Eugene, Hitler didn’t look to pleased either.
I love that moment when Lucifer admits that the crows were God's idea. He looks so exhausted all of a sudden, exactly as if he's spent thousands of years laboring under a bored, irresponsible cosmic superpower just like everybody else. One that drove even him nuts with all the pointless sadism and unpredictability.

It's something that most theists ignore... If Satan exists, then he does so purely at Gods desire so that the blame falls on Satans shoulders and not Gods. Unless of course God lacks the power or ability to destroy Satan, in which case he isn't the omnipitent God theists think he is.Or am I missing something?
You would need to elaborate for me to understand, I don't see how we would need Satan to have free will. Presumably God could give us free will without the need for Satan if indeed he is all powerful.
sam skillington something to do with good and evil I think. You have to have an opposite to good in order to be fully human. As can be seen in this show; the best people are bad in some regard, but aspire to do better. While the wholly evil act like stereotypes and mindless drones needing someone to tell them what’s what.
Go ahead and watch a few episodes and really look at how people behave in them. It starts to make a whole lot of sense.
As about what does that have to do with god and satan. It is a part of true human nature to be tempted by the devil to do bad things, while god sends you tests of faith and trials of your soul.
If you see a genocide and feel terrible. You’ve passed the test.
If you see the same genocide and wished it was of a certain race or culture you want dead; you’ve failed.
I've watched the entire series. God in this series is exactly as I imagine the real one (if of course there was such an entity). He's Narcissistic, self righteous and vain, who sends people to burn for eternity due to the traits that he so lovingly gifted them with in the first place.

I know that Preacher was unlikely to be exactly the same as the comic, but it is so odd to see the same settings and characters with the details so vastly different.
For example, the Saint of Killers is a much, much more sympathetic character in the series than he was in the comic. That guy was absolutely terrifying.
He is still terrifying in the show, lol...just also sympathetic.
I haven't seen the show, but.. Did he tank a nuke like he did in his own comic?
He tanked a car exploding, but the show has yet to have him face a nuke.
Eh, despite his tragic background, he still decapitated a classroom full of children. Hard to come back from that.
Classroom? They ARE softpedalling him. In the series he slaughtered an entire town full of women and children.
It’s a nice touch how they did the eye thing for this scene to make the Angel of Death look more like her comic book counterpart.
Satan being a little disturbed by it was interesting.

Seeing the name tag on Adolf's apron reminds me of the old Monty Python sketch of Mr. Hilter, Ron Vibbentrop and Heinrich Bimmler. 😆

Hitler is one of the few people you really don't want to be identified as in hell considering his sins. Anything to keep up the disguise, not sure that name tag is helping though.
I have no idea what is happening here, but you've got to admire the imagination of the writer.

Ruler of hell just died, infront of her was one of the most evil leaders ever and she knows he wants to lead, also she doesnt want to lead its not in her nature. I mean I know its not a bullet proof explanation but I love this show and I will defend it forever.

Angels, have free will , Satan is a fallen angel in the first place. Even in the show , Deblanc and Fiore had free wills. They chose to come to earth and fix their messes rather than face punishment . Fiore even choses to die at the hands of the Saint.
