In this version, Tool replaced the all of the original Zep lyrics that said "they" with "we". All of the references to snow have been replaced by the sun. Instead of "they choose a path where no one goes", we're "locked" in ours now and have done it all to ourselves. Instead of "building dreams", our dreams are dying. I've always thought it's was a reference to the earlier optimism about truth itself transforming into a cold & ugly one now as we're further along in this same "path". The original was quiet and sleepy and this one is massive and ominous. Tool doesn't make that many covers but this was perfect in it's phrasing & timing. The Salival tour was the first chance I had to see them live and it will always be a memory I'll never forget. I had my eyes closed the whole time.
Having now looked all over the place for any video the show I was speaking of, it was in Charlotte, NC and Lateralus tunes were part of the set. It must have been shortly after the release itself. I was really hoping to hear Jimmy live but didn't. I had to keep my eyes closed bc of epilepsy but it's still a memory that persists bc rarely do I get a chance to hear the band at that volume and I wasn't there for the crowd. A mistake in time to clarify.
I saw Tool in 2009 and they played this song and it was an out of body experience (keep in mind I ate a handful of mushrooms before the concert) I will never ever forget for the rest of my life. It was the one most incredible things I have ever heard or experienced in my entire life. Out of all the concerts I've seen my number 1 favorite is Tool always and forever.
I bought this cd in 2004 in the army at ft hood. It's scatched and unusable now. Coming home from deployments and the field, I can't tell you how many drunk nights alone getting lost in this album. They played it regularly in their live concerts. There is something far more brilliant at play here. Possibly an art students project. If one knows what "quarter" even means, or even what humans know of a black hole in relation to stars...that one can understand the synchronization of this video and its timing. A deep thinker truly made this video. Amazing timing with stars. Black holes. Life is death and death is life. Death is life and life is death. This isnt grim. This is a lullaby. Eternity defined: No quarter.
This song is about WWII soldiers. There's a very good reason you're back here. Dark days ahead of us. All of us. The implications are impossible to articulate. Locked in a place where no one goes... Indeed
@mr.lucasifer This song written by Led Zeppelin was about when the Vikings invaded England. Tool's version as about being the Vikings. Either way, DON'T GIVE NO QUARTER!! Dark days ahead, indeed. No quarter is a British word meaning, "Don't give one inch to the enemy." No surrender! Good luck! We will all need a lot of luck.
Looking at the visuals that are highly compelling. I f that the evidence matches this corilation but does not provide enough evidence to say that a balck whole can swallow the universe. ..if the universe is infinite.
Google Led Zeppelin, lyrics to "No quarter," and then google Tool, lyrics to "No Quarter." It's two different point of view. Tripped me out when I compared the two lyrics.
i hate how people think they dont have the power or relevance that jesus did. jesus was nothing more than a symbol for when man realizes his own divinity. and how in the process of doing so, you will be hated by everyone around you, when you confront truth on a very basic, foundational, and monumental level. jesus is an example of what man can become if hes fully "awake". hes not a once in a lifetime historical figure. hes an example of what we can become.

Led Zeppelin lyrics:
Close the door, put out the light
No, they won't be home tonight
The snow falls hard and don't you know?
The winds of Thor are blowing cold
They're wearing steel that's bright and true
They carry news that must get through, oh
They choose the path where no-one goes
They hold no quarter
They hold no quarter, oh
Walking side-by-side with death
The devil mocks their every step, ooh
The snow drives back the foot that's slow
The dogs of doom are howling more
They carry news that must get through
To build a dream for me and you, oh, oh, oh
They choose the path where no one goes
They hold no quarter
They ask no quarter
They hold no quarter
They ask no quarter
Yeah
Without quarter, quarter, yeah (without quarter)
Without quarter, quarter, quarter

Oh, oh, oh (hear the dogs of doom) (no, never quarter)

@@BrandonVigus ah....thanks buddy...much appreciated for the help 👍
Adam said recently on a interview they can’t sell this song on itunes/Spotify because Led Zeppelin’s music studio says they would have to pay them royalties for each song purchased

Damn dude.
Your in for a wild ride with Tool .
You “do usually not listen to music” … okay, stop. Just STOP! Don’t comment until you have logged at least 12’000 hrs of music listening sessions.
Edit: Just like to thank everyone for almost 100k!!!! views on this video. The TH-cam algorithm is very weird lol.

Eternity defined:
No quarter.

Would have been cooler if you included all the lyrics
WITCH DOCTOR IAM..I CAN SEE THEM AND I CAN'T WAIT TO GET THEM OUT... THERE EVERYWHERE...
Huh?
What are you talking bout man Tapeworm
That's really good!
Very.. 🤔Toolish. 😁
With a bit of Led Zeppelin.
Tools rush in
I feel a little bit better since two months ago fr…. Feel out of it
This song is about WWII soldiers.
🙂
Looking at the visuals that are highly compelling. I f that the evidence matches this corilation but does not provide enough evidence to say that a balck whole can swallow the universe.
..if the universe is infinite.
Video schmideo; it's the music. And it's a losing proposition to try to out do zeppelin. But by all means, keep spouting the word salad.
Just supposed to be neat visuals. Not that deep
Lol dame this was for mystery history 🤣
so the drugs 've kicked in then , ??

I'm actually barely starting to fully appreciate Undertow now that I'm in my 40s.
"Walking side by side with death
Devil mocks their every step"
What lyric did they replace with this one? I missed that.
