    Looking sharp! I think most older bikes benefit from an USD fork swap.

    • @bicky210
      @bicky210 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So do I! The only downside is if it leaks your brakes get messed up and that's a bad fixing and cleaning. Other USD forks are amazing to look at.

      Is a nice luxury, heavier steering though with the wider tyre, but worth it.

    Great video many thanks. I am in the middle of converting a CX500 Rat to a Cafe Racer so need to change a few things over. Could you let me have a link to the handlebars (if not stock) and the rev counter you used here? Once again, many thanks for posting these videos - really helpful!

    I've just got done binge watching all of the CX500 build. Truly enjoyed them all. I owned a 1978 duel pipes, single brake disk, she was a really fun M/C to ride. I wish I still had her! I have been looking to buy another one, but they are hard to find that are in decent price range and condition. It seems everyone wants to make them into a café or bobbers... Now, on to the GS build... Subbed @ 82,797

    Shame you couldn't make it to the DGR on the CX, I did the Oslo one on my old GSX750ES Cafe. It was very cool. You had considerably less problems with your dial than I did. The coil feed on mine was to noisy for the tacho to work so had to add a high pass filter to get a clean signal (resistor and capacitor). Mine stores the mileage without a battery, think its in the settings. I even have the fuel gauge and gear indicator working :-) They are cheap junk though and don't think mine will last. The needle pivot is vibrating like a goodun already. CX looks great though.

      Darn! Fate wasn't smiling at you. Looking forward to the video and I'm sure your gentlemanly distinction was equally well made on the Ducati. I work for a small biotech company, we develop novel cancer therapies. I appreciate your dedication and contributions to the cause. I wish we had something like the DGR here in Boston although I'm not entirely sure if the concepts of either "distinguished" or "gentleman" can be claimed for anything in our current political climate. If I can figure out in time how to support you I pledge a donation to your 2019 ride. Keep up the good work.

      The only problem I have with a constant power plugged into it is that my LiFePO4 battery fails quickly with a parasitic draw, plus I unplug my batteries for long periods of no use.

    My brother bought the same dials and he also has the same issue with mileage storage. He did get it to store some, but I believe it eventually resets or isn't very accurate.

    • @forthebold
      @forthebold  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's possible, you can hook up the power lead to the battery for storage, but then the issue I have is that the LifePO4 battery I have doesn't like parasitic drains like alarms etc, definitely a dial swap for me.

      It should just plug in to the existing loom you've done. I know that some of these units have different firmwares. when you go into your settings, do you have a single "page" with all options? or do you have to page through various screens to enter cylinders, wheel circumference, etc. This 1, (the one I have) has everything on 1 screen) like the "interface 2 section of the manual on the final image".
