    I've asked that question myself..
    We've seen the effectiveness of small armed commercial drones.
    Will there big a bigger shift to unmanned systems? There already seems to be a shift happening.
    Could we see small(er) drones with super maneuverability at incredibly high speeds? There have been reports of "Tic Tac" shaped objects moving at high speeds and changing path instantly.
    Autonomous drone swarms to overrun an enemies air defenses before sending in manned aircraft with even more electronic capabilities?
    We've seen how this can be used in real time.
    Or are the JASSM and LRASM systems effective enough for our purposes and needs?
    What is the next step in stealth technology? Developing fields of energy around jets to create electronic barriers?
    Creating new compounds for stealth coatings?
    Who knows, all that stuff could already be outdated...
    Whatever the next-generation of aviation brings, it's going to be incredible.

    • @benz9063
      @benz9063 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      The 200 NGAD DoD is buying also comes with 1000 unmanned-version of the jet. NGAD will likely use adaptive cycle engines that give more range and generates enough onboard electricity to allow the use of direct energy weapon.
      On top of that, there are also lower-cost drones like MQ-28 and XQ-58 in the works to be the more expendable part of the fleet.

    • @indi8990
      @indi8990 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ''Tic Tac'' UFO is definitely not SkunkWorks material. Tic Tac has been sighted since WW2 (Really since humans split the atom and figured out Nuclear, Theres a good connection between Nuclear and the appearance of UFOs btw) and was described as a ''white butane tank'' in the later decades. (The Tic Tac Im referring to)
      The Tic Tac is one of many 'David Grusch' Claims about Aerial vehicles not made by humans hands.
      If SkunkWorks were indeed responsible for the Tic Tac craft, then they got a crap load of explaining to do with there ''Incidents'' almost crashing into US Air assests.
      Also an object going mach 20, and stopping in mid air in half a second, then zipping away defies what we know as ''physics'' It's not human made. Did I also mention the Tic Tac no signs of propulsion?
      Even Unmanned have propulsion systems.

      @einehrenmann6156 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benz9063 i imagine F35s and NGADs are going to have their own buddy drones to fly with them to increase their capabilities with things like extra sensors and more missiles. Imagine an F35 flying in formation with (for example) 4 slaved MQ-28 to its side. This would allow a Pilot to do 5 times as much as he or she normally would be able to do, reducing the number of Pilots needed (which increases quality) and making them way more survivable as the drones could easily be made to sacrifice themselves at incoming missiles and also have extra countermeasures on board. This also comes with benefits of space saving as they are much smaller and don't need pilots who also need space for things. Seems to me like a much easier way to add combat effectiveness than cramping more pilots on a carrier or an airfield. Whatever they do decide is going to be awesome anyway. Their design compartment haven't missed yet.

      Drones have been the "next big thing" since the 1980's....
      Small Package Strike Platforms w/interconnected communications are already in deployment.
      Using large ordnance is no longer as effective as it used to be, precision strikes are a better use of the limited available resources.
      Now we know for definite that cosmic scanning is in active use it's fairly reasonable to assume that it is already deployed in space and that triangulation of that data is used to create detailed real-time 3D maps of the globe and upper surfaces of the planets crust with information on deeper level activity being discarded as irrelevant to the needs of the military at this moment in time.
      Being able to identify the exact targets you want to strike and deploy strike capabilities from a constellation of mobile space-based ordnance platforms is really the next logical step, and even an idiot could work that out.
      The next step in my eyes are weapons that adapt & evolve to meet the resources available in the environment that they are used in/deployed into.
      Not just some scrapyard tank with tracks and a big fire stick either, rather, truly adaptable organic defenses.

    I can't wait to see the integration of AI in these crafts. I mean like, actual AI that can talk back to you and maybe even have a witty conversation with you. I know it sounds like science fiction, but it would be so cool to have a SmartJet that can potentially react quicker than you to radar threats and to throw off flares or even detects when you've passed out and could even land itself if need be

    • @akisamefsghi
      @akisamefsghi ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I kind of want to see an AI like the droids on spacecraft in star wars. Constantly on the lookout for danger, constantly monitoring all systems and troubleshooting what it can, and maybe act as a pilot incase of a G-LOC or if the pilot is incapacitated.

    • @RedBroski
      @RedBroski ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@akisamefsghi Exactly!! If the pilot blacked out, it would handle things until the pilot regained consciousness.
      "Pilot? You there? ...Oh. Understandable. I will reduce my speed and angle of attack. There. That better? You awake now? Great. I launched a missile at the enemy while you were unconscious. That was a close one. We received orders to return. You probably didn't hear if because you blacked out. You seem weak and slow to respond. I will start heading back towards the carrier. You can take control at your convenience. We did good today, pilot. But you engaged in 2 unnecessarily dangerous maneuvers. I would advise you to avoid them next time."
      Again... Maybe science fiction, but it would be so cool.

    well, let's try to make an informed guess-
    today's fighter jets currently rely on extremely high-range radar detection for target acquisition & lock-on capabilities.
    they also feature extremely effective radar-absorbing fuselage for stealth, but even the enemy has the capability to lock onto these planes from miles away, regardless of that.
    so if i had to guess, I would say better stealth capability and more effective payload munitions would probably be the new meta.

      @@Gunni1972 To cite someone else: N2 and N1 are used as a way to represent the percentage of the maximum normal operating RPM. N1 is the speed of the low pressure spool and N2 is the speed of the high pressure spool. HYD is most probably hydraulics.
