      Thanks for watching! Good mention on the capacity of the SD card 256gb! Another great feature I forgot to mention in the review. I don't think I have another camera that can hold a 256gb card! Glad you're enjoying yours also 👍

    Bought this model 2 years ago after your video and its been good. The audio developed a static ticking noise that starts off loud but drops off. Still present in the entire video. I contacted support Oct 2023 but all they could offer me was a $20 credit towards another model. This year I connected it to a Spypoint cell link unit. After working out a few issues like reducing photo size to 16mp and long formatting both the micro SD card and SD cable adapter card its working really well. Other than that slightly annoying ticking noise in the videos, its a great trail cam for the price point. I picked it up for 58.00.
    Love your channel and your thorough testing protocol.

    Well done Dave, another great review sir. As you know I'm a big proponent of no-glow trail cameras. For security or scientific observations no-glow is a must. Even if Deer and other Wildlife get over being spooked by red-glow LEDs, they still see and react to the red-glow and therefore don't act naturally. Now of course if one simply wants to use a camera for a food plot or feeder camera and simply wants to see the wildlife, the a red-glow is fine. All my best Dave...

    I really enjoy your review videos. I purchased a GardePro A3 about a year ago and liked it so much I just got the A3S in December. I am very pleased with the A3S and have found the video and photos to be even better than the A3. Both units have excellent time-lapse capabilities and the night shots are superb as well as the flawless transitioning from night to daylight. The only regret I have is that I wish waited to buy a new one until I had seen this review! I also agree with all your PROs and while the one CON I do have is not being able to view/aim the camera by looking at the display (due to having to open the door to see), I've been able to work around that limitation well enough. Overall, I really like the menu improvements of the E5 and especially like the door lock as the A3's were a little less than perfect in those areas. Thank you for the review.

    • @HuntingFarmerOfficial
      @HuntingFarmerOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching my review Dale. I have seen the A3’s but had never purchased one. Good point on the lens opening up with the camera door. That would be a con I missed. I too prefer the lens to remain stationary! I have found ways to work around that inconvenience but it takes a bit of time. I appreciate hearing your feedback and experiences 👍

    Great review Dave and it made my mind up to purchase this model here in the UK . . I did purchase this and had problems with it wiping the card clean when in surveillance mode - updated to the latest firmware on line and everything is working fine . . Great videos and photos . . Great looking cam and great review, Dave. I think I've found a winner for my first trail cam purchase! Love the SD card ease of removal. Can't tell you how many times I've fiddled around with (especially micro) SD cards on DSLR cameras and GoPros, even managed to get one jammed at the wrong angle into a drone one time.😬 This is going to probably end up being a silly question, but why do you like the photos and videos to be the same aspect ratio?

    • @HuntingFarmerOfficial
      @HuntingFarmerOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for watching my review Randy. My preference is because of editing. When all my editing is for 1080p it’s annoying when a photo doesn’t fill the screen 😜 More importantly to me than the aspect ratio is the field of view. Many cams have a wider field of view on photo mode versus video mode or vice versa. That is a recipe for disaster on hybrid mode (photo followed by a video). This cam is identical in either mode 👍

One question (so far): Should I turn on the side motion sensors? I don't remember that coming up. Is that an additional drain on the batteries? Is it worth it? Thanks again!

    • @HuntingFarmerOfficial
      @HuntingFarmerOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. The side sensors on or off should not effect battery life. I like the side sensors on when the cam is on video mode and I usually turn them off when on photo mode. Not sure if that’s optimal, but that’s what I do 😁

    Great Review, I use the E5 with a Spypoint Cell-Link and a small 12V solar panel and 12V sealed lead-acid battery like they use in a battery backup power supply. All put into a modified Square D electrical box. One self contained unit. Only check on the system if it stops working. So far, so good. I have 5 such setups in two different states. Love the camera and the set up. (the only draw back is you have to be careful when closing the camera lid to not let it pull on the SD attachment cable, that will cause a bad connection and the camera can not transmit the images to the Cell-Link) Happy Hunting :)

    I received my first GardePro E5 from Amazon yesterday. My past experience has been with the Tasco (8MP, 10MP, 12MP), a couple different Browning models, Wosport Mini, & Campark T20. My initial impression of the GardePro is quite good. The buttons, SD card slot, and set up menu is superior to any trail camera I have used. Mine seems to have the latest software, & I am going to put it out after I type this. My only minor knock would be the very flat, smooth back of the camera. Most cameras have a better surface to grip a tree, but the strap is very nice. If I like this camera's performance, I will buy more of them in the future. I have high hopes for this camera. Thanks for the review. It helped me decide to give one a try!

    • @HuntingFarmerOfficial
      @HuntingFarmerOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! I have never personally ran the A3 but I know the E5 has a one latch case vs the A3’s two latches. I believe the E5 might be slightly more compact (smaller size). The E5 also will accept a 256gb SD card while the largest card you can use in the A3 is 128gb.

    Great review Dave. I have 5 GardePro A3 and A3S. I tried the E5 back in Nov/Dec and my only problem with it was in video mode there was an audible "woosh" sound at the very start of each clip and I ended up returning it and buying another A3 because aside from a bit of Timelapse I only do video. However, right after I returned it I saw that the manuf. put out a firmware update for the camera, and I wonder if that cured the problem. Hopefully it did becauseI love my A3's and see the E5 as a next level in the line. Again, great review!

    • @WildInNewEngland
      @WildInNewEngland 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zzz7zzz9 Yes, some of the A3's and A3S I bought in the last year have that same audio problem. When I bought my 1st A3 several years ago it was because of the nice clean sound along with great video I saw on a woman's Amazon review. Ant the one I got - and a couple others right after - had tha "perfect" audio. Then sometime a year ago they started shipping with a new firmware version that took care of some glitches elsewhere but made the audio have that crappy sund at the start, and seem like it was "jacked up" so you could hear a car a mile and a half away and everything close distorted. The good news: They now have "Version 3" firmware in the new ones. And from what I've seen on a friend's camera the audio is back to being good like earlier models. I recently bought one myself and it's out hanging on a tree by a brook now, so in a week or 2 I'll know if it's improved or not. My at home test and my friend's videos have me convinced enough that I ordered another yesterday. I'll come back here with the results.

    • @zzz7zzz9
      @zzz7zzz9 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WildInNewEngland cool, thanks. I finally managed to get my firmware updates to work. The issue, was that my sd cards were 64gb, apparently too big. So i tried using a 32gb card for the firmware, and it worked immediately.
      Three of my cams were version 2 models, and i updated them, two at home, then took the sd card for my hike yesterday, to check a couple cams, and updated the third cam in the field. I won't know what version a fourth cam is, until i do another hike to others i have out.
      But my fifth A3 is version 1 firmware. This one has me confused. It's firmware is V1.1.5 but the update is V1.1.21
      I held off on updating it because the update seems lower????

    • @WildInNewEngland
      @WildInNewEngland 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zzz7zzz9 I'm not very familiar with the updates for the version 1 A3. My frst A3 was the only version 1 that I had and at that time - a while back now - I didn't know about the available updates. The next one I bought was a version 2 and shortly after I bought that my first one's screen stopped working. The good news on that is I contacted the company and a week later I got a new one in the mail. That one was a version 2 I forget what update version number it was. I do wish I hadn't updated that one because the audio was great on that one and the others I bought at the time but the latest update I did put that "jacked up" audio in some.
      I swapped the card today on the Version 3 I bought and put out the other day, just to see that it's working okay since i was in the neighborhood. Only had a couple false triggers probably because it's aimed at a stream that's moving pretty rapid. I turned down the sensitivity to Med. so we'll see, I'll be back to that one next Tuesday. But the sound was good and I went agead and ordered another one.
      As far as the cards go, there is something about *some* SD cards that are 64 GB or over that gives some game cameras fits. I learned about it on a game camera FB page from some people that were having the problem with their model Brownings. That sounded like some of the problems I was having with some 64 GB cards. AND I remembered seeing a Zopu/Gardpro page talking about it. I went to it and followed the instructions for formatting those cards and they have been working good since. Here it is: www.zopudt.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/How-to-fix-SD-card-issues-v1.pdf

    Hey Dave, first off love your channel and your reviews. I purchased the E5 about 2 weeks ago, I love it, the pictures are clear and everything is just as you said in your review, but.....🤔 This may very well be something I'm doing wrong and I hoping you can help. The other day, 9/11/21 I went and checked my camera and was thrilled to see i had 168 pics/videos after 3 days of not checking, unfortunately all the pics/videos were taken (based on date and time) immediately after I had set it out the 3 days prior. Pics were all in succession as were vids, taken for about half an hour straight one after the other from when I turned it on and walked away. The same thing happened the very first time I put it out, took tons of pics and videos for nearly an hour after I set it out and walked away. There is nothing on the pics that should have caused motion. I hope i explained that clearly and I thank you in advance for your time.

    • @HuntingFarmerOfficial
      @HuntingFarmerOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. I’m not sure what’s going on? I know the sensitivity can be too strong and picks up on vegetation movements for some people (at that point you need to adjust the sensitivity to medium or low). That doesn’t seem to be the case in your instance because you said nothing is moving. I would check which software version your camera is running (even though it’s new it could have sat in the warehouse for some time). I’d update it to the newest version available and see if that fixes the bug. Here a video I did on updating mine. th-cam.com/video/B2WwyodejVI/w-d-xo.html

    Good review. I have tested the E5 and a few other GardePro cameras (and some other clones, of the same camera). And in pretty much each case the sound is horrible. It's a shame b/c the pics and video and other features are very good. For me, sound is everything and makes for a good or bad video. Right now I have to stay with my Bushnell and Browning camera, both have great clean sound. I think you are on to something regarding Gardepro trying to amplify the sound, I have noticed that as well. If they would fix their mic issues, I would buy 10 of them.. they are that good! And I can buy 2 (or 3 or 4) for the price of a Browning.

Many times there is no power it appears that one of the batteries may have slept press the black battery cover sometimes gets it working. Then you have to reset the date and time again. I have set it with High response so it catches hedgehogs going in and our of the hibernation house that we have positioned for them. It ended up taking 111 video clips if the first 2 hours (mainly in the dark) before stopping to do any clips until 7am - when it was light. • @peterofware
      @peterofware 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have two cons for the E5, albeit not serious. The first is something you mentioned, The fact that removing batteries means that the date goes back to factory settings so needs resetting. The second is the lack of a positive way of starting the video. Other cameras have 3 settings "off" "set up" and "on" this only has the first two and a "start" button but no way of checking if you have pressed start, press it twice does that negate it. Are solar panel power worth considering, rather than rechargeable batteries?

      Dave, Sorry I don't like this camera. As well as my two cons mentioned before. I find difficulty in removing the batteries as well as the annoying problem of having to reset the date & time. The other problem is that the "high" sensitivity is too sensitive (waving leaves and flies trigger it) and the medium is not sensitive enough. Sorry

      I’m not sure what makes the difference? Here is a fairly recent compilation of videos from that camera. It’s been out 24/7 since that review. th-cam.com/video/UsBXpHJRVrA/w-d-xo.html
