Fun fact: in the Italian adaptation of EoS, Team Tasty has a very cute pun. It’s called Team Mangio. Which can be intented as Team “I eat”, Mangio being the present for the eating verb. But it can also be intended as a similiar sounding phrase “Ti mangio”, which means “I’m gonna eat you” and fits perfectly for the Swellow Wurmple relationship lmao
Reading through each of the teams' dialogue was one of my favourite things to do during downtime in PMD! It really made the world of exploration teams feel so much more lively and diverse c: Great tier list and it's always the best to see more PMD videos from you!!

I think the PSMD reference is referring to how plenty of characters you interact with will bring up references from the previous three games (Rescue Team, Explorers, Gates). So, Skuntank’s dialogue references Team Skull. But it’s hard to say if any of that is actually canon since the entire game feels more like a love letter and homage to the series than strictly being it’s own thing.
I'm curious why you disagree with them being well written! I think their motivation is a bit rough, but in terms of how they make their plans, and how they all act after being defeated in Brine Cave, I think that stuff is very realistic and shows a side of "villains" you rarely ever see

They’re generically evil with no inherent relation to the plot at all, the only time you battle them is at Beach Cave and you don’t even fight Skunktank at all, and they completely disappear after Brine Cave. Their scenes in the guild are just poorly written. First of all, none of the guildmates say anything about them or raise a concern to Chatot/Wigglytuff. The whole scene after Apple Woods in the guild is just terrible - Chatot never even gives your team a chance to say anything. And despite Chatot being somewhat clever, he doesn’t see through the facade Team Skull imposes on the guild. Wigglytuff I can forgive since he makes friends with everyone, but other than that, it seems like the writers artificially designed their arc to infuriate the players in the worst way possible.
@@Espik_23 that sounds less like an issue with how team skull is written and more like an issue with how the guild is written. I will admit they’re pretty generic in terms of how evil they are, but I think complexity is not the same as being well written. Many of the best villains were extremely simple in one note I think maleficent from sleeping beauty, yet despite that they were still Really well written. In defense of the guild though, I think based on every guild member’s characterization, the way that they act in response to team skull makes sense. Loudred is the first to speak up and complain about team skull when they first join the expedition, but is quickly shut down by Chatot, which scares a lot of the other members. Which tracks cause it’s not until much later when you return from the future that anyone actually stands up against Chatot, hell even then Dugtrio sides with him in refusing to believe the player’s story. Chatot refusing to let the player team get a word in makes sense, he’s head of intelligence and that pretty clearly gets to his head, refusing to even consider that his most basic assumptions could ever be wrong. I think all of that interaction, no matter how frustrating, is well written! It doesn’t feel artificial to me, it aligns with the guild’s characterization throughout the whole story.

I don’t think the guild apprentices have teams. Sunflora and Loudred weren’t exploring when he saved her. It happened during a special episode where she was sent alone to apprehend Haunter but was cornered by some slugma and Loudred just went in to save her cuz she’s a grass type against poison types and these two fire types

Team AWD seems to be planned to have a bigger role than the one present in the game. I remember a short comic along with the spanish Nintendo Acción magazine where they are the bad guys agaisnt a Chimchar (the human protagonist) and their partner Turtwig. At least they do show up in Explorers of Sky sidestories. 19:20 I think they are meant to be very obscure on purpose to only been known by word of mouth among children at school. They are like meeting a famous celebrity you never thought to ever meet in your entire life.
I do think the same thing, with how secretive they are at first and the dynamic they have with Team Charm in their special episode, it definitely feels like they were supposed to have a larger role, and were cut out for some reason. Which, yeah is a shame
Kinda random fun fact, Team Poochy are the reason that Poochyena is (and always will be) my fav pokemon. 7 year old me saw them, thought 'cute puppy! I want it on my team!' and since then it's been my favourite. And I've become obsessed to them to the point where I've recruited 70+ (which was VERY difficult bc they can only be found in a few dungeons and seem to be very rare too?? and you sometimes gotta spend hours wandering around in those dungeons, sometimes it can be ages before you even find one, and when you do, you gotta defeat it and HOPE it asks to join your team...), created SEVERAL poochyena original chatacters, named my channel / online username after them (RocketPooch is a combination of Team Rocket and Poochyena, and my old username used to be lpspoochyena12), COSPLAYED as Poochyena and wanna get a tattoo of one. I am so normal about Poochyena. All because of Team Poochy. I don't think anyone will even read this but yes.

But I’ve been honing my craft of both editing and style through all my other videos, and through the videos I’ve been editing for other TH-camrs too! I don’t know this for a fact but I feel like Team AWD is maybe a little nod to Team ACT from Rescue Team, just because of the names. I could be reaching, though ahahah! Speaking of Rescue Team, though, one of my favourite PMD headcanons is that Medicham from Team Charm is the same one who was part of Team Meanies in Rescue Team.

I just pretend the guild members have random chimeco assembly team members that you never get to see. Kind of can't be the case though because of the Bidoof and Sunflora special episodes but Chatot tells the guild as a whole that they can't bring chimeco assembly members to the expedition which could imply the other guild members have team members they recruited in the dungeons which makes sense since the Bidoof and Sunflora episodes happen before the expedition so they could have recruited dungeon pokemon since the special episodes.

I completely agree with putting Team Tasty in S tier. And I'm impressed by the amount of research you put into this. As for not playing Bidoof's special episode, I still recommend it. It was actually good, story-wise. I played PMD Explorers of Time and Darkness and finished it considering Bidoof my least favorite character but his special episode in Sky made me do a 180.
Thanks! Yeah I, work long and hard on my scripted vids, and I love PMD so it’s worth it. I have played Bidoof’s Wish a few times, it’s a great episode for sure, but… it just also just wasn’t quite worth playing for a video like this. Since nobody filmed interactions with all the NPC teams I went through the game to do so myself, and uhhh, it did get a bit exhausting lol

One thing about Team Skull that I DON'T like is that we never get a chance to actually fight them. Because it would feel SOOO satisfying to finally beat the team that's been giving the protagonists so much trouble and tried to screw them over multiple times.

I think you were too harsh with Team Charm. You said that one of your reasons for why they are so low is because they are too weak in their Special Episode but that is the idea, it is a flashback to a point in time when they were still starting as an exploration Team, making them be powerful then would have just broken the immersion.
I’d buy that reasoning if they also didn’t constantly call themselves undefeated in the Special Episode and acted like they were already the best team in the world. Even back then it’s all showboating with… nothing to show for it

Regarding guilds and forming teams - From what I can tell, guilds are a combination of further education and training, as well as a classic fantasy guild where job requests get sent in. By being a part of a guild and getting the proper graduation and training, you get connections with law enforcement as well as information and training. If you don't join a guild, you're closer to the "bounty hunter" type like AWD where guilds might still let you take their jobs, for a fee, but won't outright give you information nor connections nor care about you if you ever go missing on a big job. You can form a team yourself in-advance when you go to the guild, but it's also a part of joining the guild that you make friends with guildmates and can get the chance to try different move combinations and form your own teams with other members that you think work well, which can be finalised properly into teams. Reading the diaries, you notice talk of discourse and not WANTING to go on missions with each other anymore. Of course, non-guild teams wouldn't get that same level of "trying things out". In theory, being a guild non-graduate, a part of the fees would probably also mean you're guaranteed room and food since the guild takes 90% of your direct income (as long as you don't get punished for failing to bring back Perfect Apples) - not something we as players need to worry about, but I couldn't help but notice that you never have dinner like you would in the Mess Hall, after graduating.
About teams returning in super PMD. There are some teams/characters that make cameos as NPCs in that game. These are for the most part plot relevant teams, guild members or Pokémon from the side stories. I wouldn't consider them canon tho and as far as I remember there dialogue doesn't give you any new information.
Maybe in the future! I thought about doing it, but I’m not as familiar with the “behind the scenes” tools for the Rescue Team games as I am with SkyTemple for Sky. Plus from my own memory, I think the Rescue Team games only have 6 rescue teams: Meanies, ACT, Constrictor, Hydro, Rumblerock, and Shifty. If I were to do a video on the Rescue Teams, I’m not sure how entertaining it’d be only looking at 6 teams, though I could try to see if there are any differences between Red/Blue and DX in how the teams are portrayed…
U forgot to rate the Pokémon u play as’s team. and grovyle’s team and dusknoir’s team. They’re not really explorers but dusknoir has his sabeleye minions and the leader dialga. And grovyle was a little team with the main player.
Can’t forget if it was an intentional decision! This video was focused on NPC Exploration teams. The player team is by definition, a player character team, so they were excluded (plus I didn’t wanna try and identify all the different combos and synergies, that’s for a different video). The other teams aren’t actually exploration teams, they’re companions sure, but in the same way that Bidoof and Sunflora are, they work together sometimes but nothing official. Plus they have a heavy plot focus, these teams don’t, I wanted to highlight the teams you don’t think about often
I really hate it when people use phrases like _"character coding"_ To me, it just comes off as trying to pull something from nothing. Like saying Corphish is _"Fat Albert coded"_ because he says _"Hey Hey Hey"_ If it were me, I would just say _"I ship these two"_ Ironic since Pokemon's game design allows for incest but no same gender stuff due to its terrible breeding mechanic (speaking as a game designer and programmer) lol.
I think there’s a pretty big difference between saying someone is coded after a specific character for a small gimmick, and saying someone’s coded upon a certain demographic because they consistently demonstrate a reflection of the lived experiences of many people within that demographic. Saying Team Ebony is lesbian coded isn’t me saying that I ship them, it’s commenting specifically on the fact that they’re written in a way that closely resembled the dynamic and experiences of many real lived lesbian couples. Also yeah I love how PMD bypassed the entire mainline breeding troubles by just saying “nobody can breed, get your eggs other ways” and that’s really funny to me.

My first examples would have been Sunflora as a valley girl or Bidoof as a bumpkin. The point of my example of Corphish being Fat Albert is to illustrate my point how ridiculous and easy it is to do to draw something from nothing.
They can! But not until after you beat the main story, and as far as I’m aware the NPCs in Team Glee and Team Ebony don’t evolve to take advantage of that ability even after the story’s completion

Team Charm has always left a REALLY poor taste in my mouth. They act all high and mighty, and everyone treats them as such, but every time you see them, they're either getting their rear ends handed to 'em, or barely eking out a win; not to mention they're just...kind of jerks. I guarantee you, they would not have achieved _nearly_ the same degree of fame if not for bribing Wigglytuff with his favorite food

As someone who knows almost NOTHING about Pokémon and is using this video as my primary source of education/information towards the franchise... I find Wurmple and Sneasel to be very relatable. Mostly Wurmple though. If anyone asks me who the main character of the Pokémon series is, I'll tell 'em it's Wurmple!
The team Tasty scenes read like a BL where one of the characters is really shy and doesn't think highly of himself and the love interest is really flirty but doesn't take anything seriously until the climactic confession scene happens
Humble brag, I knew about Team Raider my first playthrough. They stuck out to me cause 2 of my favourite pokemon (Gallade and Roserade) are both in the team Wish we couldve seen more of them
I'm sad to not see Heracross and Zigzagoon on this list with how they pull the fun twist of the two creating their team during the Sky Peak arc but otherwise, very fun tier list

They're the only occurrence we see of a team actually being formed proper and I really like that! Plus Heracross can learn Fury Attack and Zigzagoon's got a niche with Pickup

I don’t do ranking videos often, but I have done a few. The most notable one is my Pokemon Stadium Minigame Tier List. Explorers of the Spirit is a fanmade romhack that serves as a sequel to Explorers of Sky! It’s extremely good and I reference it a lot due to the fact that I did a playthrough of it just about over a year ago. It continues the story in a fascinating way, while providing unique gameplay challenges as well
Imo the best team is Team Tasty, not only are they silly but they have a genuine feel good moment where Wurmple find out he’s cherished by his partner, Swellow

Charm and Raider always got me wondering about what other higher level Pokemon combinations could be out there as Explorer teams. Something about all three members being in their final evolution stage gives them that imposing 'professional' vibe, which isn't all that surprising now that I think about it. You're 100% right though, Team Charm are ranked right where they belong. In the trash.
Well I paid attention to their written dialogue and noticed a lot of similarities between their goals and interactions with each other and many lesbian couples irl, and especially in Japan during the 2010s. I can’t just ignore that cause they’re a ghost and a bird.

If you could make an npc team what would it be called and what Pokemon would be in it and what would they be like? Team Sub zero Members: Walrein (leader a friendly laughing guy who acts as leader and tank) Frolass (the team brains tactfully chooses the most dangerous jobs for the team to face) Alolan Sandslash (to show the teams diverse nature Alolan sandslash has connections all over the mystery dungeon world so team sub zero can explore the most frigid of peaks) The idea: Ice type power house team Frolass knows hail and walrein knows blizzard is often a combo used on monster houses or particularly dangerous outlaws many jails cells are in fact just the outlaw in cases in a block of ice curtesy of team sub zero
Bidoof isn't that bad. Apart from having to deal with lots of enemies that defensively resist you and also have to survive Team Rogue, the Snover of which makes the weather hail from the getgo. But if you beat it, you can get access to Wish Cave in the mian game randomly down the line AND recruit Jirachi possibly, which is a treat for those who never could get their hands on one for the main Pokemon games but liked the Jirachi movie. Also, ever beat the toughest dungeon in the whole game? I haven't, but if you do, you get a good hold item AND get to see an Arceus Cameo as a reward in the form of a statue erected to His Magnificence.
Don't dislike Team Charm just because you meeean they're too feminine, girly in other words. You like Team ACT better because they're definitely the masculine team 😂😅
Honestly my only complaint with Team ACT is their masculinity. Femininity is excellent and I love when a well written character embraces it, like Murkrow and Wigglytuff for instance! But gender expression should add to personality, not be a substitute for it.
@@ODISeth Yeah Wigglytuff is definitely a Pokemon who demonstrates that guys can be feminine. But I personally see that Murkrow isn't very gender expressive with her looks, not that that's a bad thing of course, and I don’t know if liking shiny objects is necessarily a feminine trait
@@sereneaurora965 yesssss love Tuff’s complete embrace of his feminine appearance and mannerisms. As for Murkrow, while her appearance isn’t traditionally feminine, nor is the core trait of liking shiny things, a lot of her other aspects emphasize traditional femininity. I didn’t focus on them too much in this video because I thought the species-coding (real life corvids love shinies) and romantic relationship between her and Shuppet were more important for the video, but a lot of her mannerisms and the way she speaks gives strong feminine vibes. And I think that really emphasizes why I don’t like Team Charm that much. So many of these Pokemon have a lot of personality aspects beyond what’s discussed in this video, but Team Charm doesn’t. They’re flashy, and it’s cool that they strike fun feminine poses and have an admittedly great theme song, but that’s just about all they have. Again, big part of why I love the romhack Explorers of the Spirit, which maintains their established super feminine traits but also adds a LOT more for them to do, characterizing them in very surprising and engaging ways! In that romhack, I love them! In the base game… they’re flashy and spectacular on the surface, but lack the depth a lot of the other teams have

That’s a great name for them haha! I thought about including them, but I ultimately thought they didn’t qualify as while they were allies in the special episode, they weren’t exactly an official exploration team, no official name or whatnot. I see them as a temporary alliance, like how the player teams up with Bidoof while traveling to Fogbound Lake or Chatot at Brine Cave. But also, yeah if I had ranked them they’d probably be S tier, they’re a wonderful team and have by far the most characterization of any NPCs in the game.

I think the PSMD reference is referring to how plenty of characters you interact with will bring up references from the previous three games (Rescue Team, Explorers, Gates). So, Skuntank’s dialogue references Team Skull. But it’s hard to say if any of that is actually canon since the entire game feels more like a love letter and homage to the series than strictly being it’s own thing.

I'm curious why you disagree with them being well written! I think their motivation is a bit rough, but in terms of how they make their plans, and how they all act after being defeated in Brine Cave, I think that stuff is very realistic and shows a side of "villains" you rarely ever see
@@ODISeth I disagree. They’re generically evil with no inherent relation to the plot at all, the only time you battle them is at Beach Cave and you don’t even fight Skunktank at all, and they completely disappear after Brine Cave.
Their scenes in the guild are just poorly written. First of all, none of the guildmates say anything about them or raise a concern to Chatot/Wigglytuff. The whole scene after Apple Woods in the guild is just terrible - Chatot never even gives your team a chance to say anything. And despite Chatot being somewhat clever, he doesn’t see through the facade Team Skull imposes on the guild. Wigglytuff I can forgive since he makes friends with everyone, but other than that, it seems like the writers artificially designed their arc to infuriate the players in the worst way possible.
@@Espik_23 that sounds less like an issue with how team skull is written and more like an issue with how the guild is written. I will admit they’re pretty generic in terms of how evil they are, but I think complexity is not the same as being well written. Many of the best villains were extremely simple in one note I think maleficent from sleeping beauty, yet despite that they were still Really well written.
In defense of the guild though, I think based on every guild member’s characterization, the way that they act in response to team skull makes sense. Loudred is the first to speak up and complain about team skull when they first join the expedition, but is quickly shut down by Chatot, which scares a lot of the other members. Which tracks cause it’s not until much later when you return from the future that anyone actually stands up against Chatot, hell even then Dugtrio sides with him in refusing to believe the player’s story. Chatot refusing to let the player team get a word in makes sense, he’s head of intelligence and that pretty clearly gets to his head, refusing to even consider that his most basic assumptions could ever be wrong. I think all of that interaction, no matter how frustrating, is well written! It doesn’t feel artificial to me, it aligns with the guild’s characterization throughout the whole story.

It happened during a special episode where she was sent alone to apprehend Haunter but was cornered by some slugma and Loudred just went in to save her cuz she’s a grass type against poison types and these two fire types

Team AWD seems to be planned to have a bigger role than the one present in the game. I remember a short comic along with the spanish Nintendo Acción magazine where they are the bad guys agaisnt a Chimchar (the human protagonist) and their partner Turtwig.
At least they do show up in Explorers of Sky sidestories.

Kinda random fun fact, Team Poochy are the reason that Poochyena is (and always will be) my fav pokemon. 7 year old me saw them, thought 'cute puppy! I want it on my team!' and since then it's been my favourite. And I've become obsessed to them to the point where I've recruited 70+ (which was VERY difficult bc they can only be found in a few dungeons and seem to be very rare too?? and you sometimes gotta spend hours wandering around in those dungeons, sometimes it can be ages before you even find one, and when you do, you gotta defeat it and HOPE it asks to join your team...), created SEVERAL poochyena original chatacters, named my channel / online username after them (RocketPooch is a combination of Team Rocket and Poochyena, and my old username used to be lpspoochyena12), COSPLAYED as Poochyena and wanna get a tattoo of one. I am so normal about Poochyena. All because of Team Poochy. I don't think anyone will even read this but yes.

I just pretend the guild members have random chimeco assembly team members that you never get to see. Kind of can't be the case though because of the Bidoof and Sunflora special episodes but Chatot tells the guild as a whole that they can't bring chimeco assembly members to the expedition which could imply the other guild members have team members they recruited in the dungeons which makes sense since the Bidoof and Sunflora episodes happen before the expedition so they could have recruited dungeon pokemon since the special episodes.

I completely agree with putting Team Tasty in S tier. And I'm impressed by the amount of research you put into this.
As for not playing Bidoof's special episode, I still recommend it. It was actually good, story-wise. I played PMD Explorers of Time and Darkness and finished it considering Bidoof my least favorite character but his special episode in Sky made me do a 180.

One thing about Team Skull that I DON'T like is that we never get a chance to actually fight them. Because it would feel SOOO satisfying to finally beat the team that's been giving the protagonists so much trouble and tried to screw them over multiple times.

I think you were too harsh with Team Charm. You said that one of your reasons for why they are so low is because they are too weak in their Special Episode but that is the idea, it is a flashback to a point in time when they were still starting as an exploration Team, making them be powerful then would have just broken the immersion.
I’d buy that reasoning if they also didn’t constantly call themselves undefeated in the Special Episode and acted like they were already the best team in the world. Even back then it’s all showboating with… nothing to show for it

Regarding guilds and forming teams -
From what I can tell, guilds are a combination of further education and training, as well as a classic fantasy guild where job requests get sent in. By being a part of a guild and getting the proper graduation and training, you get connections with law enforcement as well as information and training. If you don't join a guild, you're closer to the "bounty hunter" type like AWD where guilds might still let you take their jobs, for a fee, but won't outright give you information nor connections nor care about you if you ever go missing on a big job. You can form a team yourself in-advance when you go to the guild, but it's also a part of joining the guild that you make friends with guildmates and can get the chance to try different move combinations and form your own teams with other members that you think work well, which can be finalised properly into teams. Reading the diaries, you notice talk of discourse and not WANTING to go on missions with each other anymore. Of course, non-guild teams wouldn't get that same level of "trying things out". In theory, being a guild non-graduate, a part of the fees would probably also mean you're guaranteed room and food since the guild takes 90% of your direct income (as long as you don't get punished for failing to bring back Perfect Apples) - not something we as players need to worry about, but I couldn't help but notice that you never have dinner like you would in the Mess Hall, after graduating.
About teams returning in super PMD. There are some teams/characters that make cameos as NPCs in that game. These are for the most part plot relevant teams, guild members or Pokémon from the side stories. I wouldn't consider them canon tho and as far as I remember there dialogue doesn't give you any new information.

Maybe in the future! I thought about doing it, but I’m not as familiar with the “behind the scenes” tools for the Rescue Team games as I am with SkyTemple for Sky. Plus from my own memory, I think the Rescue Team games only have 6 rescue teams: Meanies, ACT, Constrictor, Hydro, Rumblerock, and Shifty. If I were to do a video on the Rescue Teams, I’m not sure how entertaining it’d be only looking at 6 teams, though I could try to see if there are any differences between Red/Blue and DX in how the teams are portrayed…

U forgot to rate the Pokémon u play as’s team. and grovyle’s team and dusknoir’s team. They’re not really explorers but dusknoir has his sabeleye minions and the leader dialga. And grovyle was a little team with the main player.
Can’t forget if it was an intentional decision! This video was focused on NPC Exploration teams. The player team is by definition, a player character team, so they were excluded (plus I didn’t wanna try and identify all the different combos and synergies, that’s for a different video). The other teams aren’t actually exploration teams, they’re companions sure, but in the same way that Bidoof and Sunflora are, they work together sometimes but nothing official. Plus they have a heavy plot focus, these teams don’t, I wanted to highlight the teams you don’t think about often

I think there’s a pretty big difference between saying someone is coded after a specific character for a small gimmick, and saying someone’s coded upon a certain demographic because they consistently demonstrate a reflection of the lived experiences of many people within that demographic. Saying Team Ebony is lesbian coded isn’t me saying that I ship them, it’s commenting specifically on the fact that they’re written in a way that closely resembled the dynamic and experiences of many real lived lesbian couples.
Also yeah I love how PMD bypassed the entire mainline breeding troubles by just saying “nobody can breed, get your eggs other ways” and that’s really funny to me.

Team Charm has always left a REALLY poor taste in my mouth. They act all high and mighty, and everyone treats them as such, but every time you see them, they're either getting their rear ends handed to 'em, or barely eking out a win; not to mention they're just...kind of jerks. I guarantee you, they would not have achieved _nearly_ the same degree of fame if not for bribing Wigglytuff with his favorite food

@ODISeth I'd probably give them a B or A rank! You don't get a team name out of them, but the way they find each other as Sky Peak updates with each post game chapter just hits a bit differently. They're the only occurrence we see of a team actually being formed proper and I really like that! Plus Heracross can learn Fury Attack and Zigzagoon's got a niche with Pickup

Explorers of the Spirit is a fanmade romhack that serves as a sequel to Explorers of Sky! It’s extremely good and I reference it a lot due to the fact that I did a playthrough of it just about over a year ago. It continues the story in a fascinating way, while providing unique gameplay challenges as well

Charm and Raider always got me wondering about what other higher level Pokemon combinations could be out there as Explorer teams. Something about all three members being in their final evolution stage gives them that imposing 'professional' vibe, which isn't all that surprising now that I think about it.

I made a DND campaign off of explorers of sky and I have to admit I actually made Team Skull more complex or at least a bit more in the plot than "bullies the team consistently" LOL
A rank feels slightly high but since I went to the effort of humanizing them (so to speak) a bit more, I can't judge LOL

It's interesting that your Viewer Antagonisms about Team Charm technically failed, because no one is leaving angry comments about it, but also succeeded because a lot of people are leaving comments about agreeing with you.
Anyway, we all know why some people like it, and I have no rights to judge them since I'm a mecha fan, and as you can see from my channel, I'm guilty too. 😅
If you could make an npc team what would it be called and what Pokemon would be in it and what would they be like?
Team Sub zero
Members: Walrein (leader a friendly laughing guy who acts as leader and tank) Frolass (the team brains tactfully chooses the most dangerous jobs for the team to face) Alolan Sandslash (to show the teams diverse nature Alolan sandslash has connections all over the mystery dungeon world so team sub zero can explore the most frigid of peaks)
The idea: Ice type power house team Frolass knows hail and walrein knows blizzard is often a combo used on monster houses or particularly dangerous outlaws many jails cells are in fact just the outlaw in cases in a block of ice curtesy of team sub zero
Bidoof isn't that bad. Apart from having to deal with lots of enemies that defensively resist you and also have to survive Team Rogue, the Snover of which makes the weather hail from the getgo. But if you beat it, you can get access to Wish Cave in the mian game randomly down the line AND recruit Jirachi possibly, which is a treat for those who never could get their hands on one for the main Pokemon games but liked the Jirachi movie. Also, ever beat the toughest dungeon in the whole game? I haven't, but if you do, you get a good hold item AND get to see an Arceus Cameo as a reward in the form of a statue erected to His Magnificence.
Don't dislike Team Charm just because you meeean they're too feminine, girly in other words. You like Team ACT better because they're definitely the masculine team 😂😅
Honestly my only complaint with Team ACT is their masculinity. Femininity is excellent and I love when a well written character embraces it, like Murkrow and Wigglytuff for instance! But gender expression should add to personality, not be a substitute for it.
@@ODISeth Yeah Wigglytuff is definitely a Pokemon who demonstrates that guys can be feminine. But I personally see that Murkrow isn't very gender expressive with her looks, not that that's a bad thing of course, and I don’t know if liking shiny objects is necessarily a feminine trait
@@sereneaurora965 yesssss love Tuff’s complete embrace of his feminine appearance and mannerisms. As for Murkrow, while her appearance isn’t traditionally feminine, nor is the core trait of liking shiny things, a lot of her other aspects emphasize traditional femininity. I didn’t focus on them too much in this video because I thought the species-coding (real life corvids love shinies) and romantic relationship between her and Shuppet were more important for the video, but a lot of her mannerisms and the way she speaks gives strong feminine vibes.
And I think that really emphasizes why I don’t like Team Charm that much. So many of these Pokemon have a lot of personality aspects beyond what’s discussed in this video, but Team Charm doesn’t. They’re flashy, and it’s cool that they strike fun feminine poses and have an admittedly great theme song, but that’s just about all they have. Again, big part of why I love the romhack Explorers of the Spirit, which maintains their established super feminine traits but also adds a LOT more for them to do, characterizing them in very surprising and engaging ways! In that romhack, I love them! In the base game… they’re flashy and spectacular on the surface, but lack the depth a lot of the other teams have

I’m a little disappointed you didn’t give mention to Team Speedrun (I’m calling them that because their ultimate goal is to save time), that being Celebi, Dusknoir, and the leader Grovyle. They definitely go in S tier
That’s a great name for them haha! I thought about including them, but I ultimately thought they didn’t qualify as while they were allies in the special episode, they weren’t exactly an official exploration team, no official name or whatnot. I see them as a temporary alliance, like how the player teams up with Bidoof while traveling to Fogbound Lake or Chatot at Brine Cave. But also, yeah if I had ranked them they’d probably be S tier, they’re a wonderful team and have by far the most characterization of any NPCs in the game.

Gets get Special Episode 5 some love. Team Future, Grovyle, Celebi and Dusknoir. Even after this game the 3 of them show up in Super Mystery Dungeon too, with Celebi still being Shiny lel. Not sure how Canon it is but it’s a cool reference nonetheless. Easy S tier
