    I ordered a Tanto for my Notos, surprisingly its louder than stock. Running my Fx’s sumo currently on it until another comes in to try.

      That’s interesting. I’m guessing the Sumo quiets it down pretty well though?

      I’m really wanting to try a Sumo on the 2240XL. It’s what Donny recommended as an alternative to the Tanto.

    I was throwing every power mod I could find on my Crosman 1300 and very quickly found out after the first few shots that noise was going to be an issue. I ended up ordering the DonnyFL Koi to throw on the end of it. I haven’t received it in the mail yet so I can’t report on how effective it is.

    Hi Al. I got my Tanto that you recommended and installed it on my Crosman 2300KT with 10" barrel. As you said, it IS backyard friendly, and I am very satisfied with mine as well. I would suggest to others to order the 12mm adapter if your barrel is not pre-threaded. I ordered the 11mm and it was a bit to small and I had to drill it out with a 7/16" drill bit, as was suggested by Donny when I contacted him about the problem. I love how quiet, and cool it looks on my new gun. (I ordered the .25 cal Tanto instead of the .22) Donny recommend it to me to avoid clipping any pellets-and it worked perfectly.

      Cindy - Super! Glad it worked out well for you. Also, thanks for the additional information on the adapters.

    If you want it to be even quiter take out the felt and replace it with some memory foam you will be really impressed then 🤔🤫. The memory foam is harder to fit in tube depending on how thick it is. but there is a difference in sound.👌✌️👍

    • @AlsAirguns

      I'm thinking of getting a decent sound meter so we can evaluate those kinds of mods and compare the popular offerings. How much do you need for a 2240 before you hit diminishing returns. By the same token I suspect a Quackenbush .50 cal. outlaw wants a pretty big can to quiet her down. 18 wheeler verses a sports car in terms of exhaust.

    I have a Benjamin Trail NP XL 725, .25 cal and the built in silencer comes off and there’s something similar at the tip of the barrel as the gun you have but it’s just longer. Do you think this silencer would fit on my rifle??

    • @AlsAirguns
      @AlsAirguns  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I do not think it will fit. But if you call Donny at DonnyFL he may have something that will work for you. For one thing it needs to be .25 caliber.

  • @cindybeckwith1533

    Al, thank you for your review. I would love to know what the dB level is of this gun with the Tanto suppressor. Airgungirl did a youtube review two years ago, called "Best Crosman 2240 upgrades". In that video they installed a Huggett Belita moderator, it came in at 64 dB. Im hoping that the Tanto will be a very similar dB level or less than the Belita. Tanto is the same width as the Belita but about 5/8" longer, so Im thinking it maybe even a touch quieter.
    Question: Do you have to remove the Tanto moderator in order to change out the CO2 cartridge on the 2240XLA? I have the 10.1" barrel on mine so I think I will just be able to change the CO2 with out taking the moderator off.

    • @AlsAirguns
      @AlsAirguns  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You’re quite welcome. I don’t currently have a legitimate sound meter, only software that really doesn’t seem up to the task. I’ve thought about purchasing one but the channel has more needs than budget at the moment. However, the gossip on the internet (including the UK) is that DonnyFL currently exceeds the competition including the one you mention. Who knows, maybe we’ll acquire a meter before we list these times for sale. 😀

    • @AlsAirguns

      I placed mine in a padded vise in order to get it loose. I suspect that the Ronin is similar but I'd give Donny an email or call. I hear he's really responsive to customers.

    • @AlsAirguns
      @AlsAirguns  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The recording doesn't really pick up the differences. I may pick up a sound meter for the next round of tests. Over the years I've owned and used many TKO moderators and like them. The DonnyFL's are different in their construction, being made of aluminum and having many interface options. They're more durable and more easily moved between multiple guns than the TKO's and I believe as quiet or quieter. I hope to be able to do an accurate sound comparison between the two in the future.

    What separates these from being illegal since someone up to no good could put it on a .22 rimfire? Is the fact that it is on an air rifle make it legal?

    • @AlsAirguns
      @AlsAirguns  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, it’s an airgun only silencer, so it’s legal. Can’t be used on a firearm.
      Doesn’t work with.22 rim fire. Different caliber projectiles (yes they both say 22 but don’t believe everything you read. 44 Magnum is a ,429 projectile.) anyway the pressures involved are very different. It won’t reduce the report of a .22 rim fire and you may lose an eye or a hand. Additionally it won’t fit on a threaded barrel for a firearm. Firearm suppressors and airgun suppressors use different thread patterns. That means you’d have to modify it to fit, in which case according to BATF you constructed an unlicensed silencer and you committed a felony.
      So, yeah, it’s been thought about.
      Good question though.

      I think you're okay with the DONNYFL or TKO products. I've never heard of issues with either. Of course, not everyone in the US is aware that moderators/silencers for airguns are legal here. Unlike silencers for firearms which must be registered with US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) to be legally possessed by a private citizen in the USA.

    bien trop cher pour ce que c'est !! quelque bout d'aluminium taillé dans la masse un petit boue de grillage souple en acier de la feutrine et il vende ça la peau du cul !!! mieux vaux faire son propre silencieux avec une imprimante 3D ça reviens beaucoup moins cher et je suis sur que ça peut être bien plus efficace !!
