So looking at the controller throw, I did it slightly differently but i think i got a decent answer. So first I want to figure out how long it took for the controller to leave his hand and hit the ground, which seemed to be about 7 frames (based on the camera beginning to shake), and I assume that it's 30fps, which means the controller hit the ground in 0.23 seconds after he began the throw. Now, this is where things get a little more sketchy, I'm assuming he is about average height in an average chair, and threw the controller from about chest height. It's really hard to tell which way he threw the controller, but if it hit the camera, id estimate it to be probably around 5ft or 1.524m. With that, using delta(x)/delta(t) we can say the controller velocity was about 6.541m/s (about 14.6mph). To get the acceleration, we want to know how long it took for the controller to actually be thrown. We know it left his hand at 6.541m/s, and we know at the top of his throw, it's initial velocity was 0. His actually controller throw seemed to be about 5 frames (it's so blurry, very hard to tell but it's what we have to work with), so the controller throw went from 0 to 6.541m/s in 0.166 seconds. That means his acceleration (using delta(v)/delta(t) similar to before), was 39.402m/s/s. Using a standard controller being 7.1 oz or 0.201kg and putting that in the classic Sigma F = ma, we get a grand total of 7.920 newtons of force. Now, Im definitely not the smartest guy out there and there are definitely probably better ways to do this, but I'd say we're at least in the right ball park here. I'm 100% sure that I made a few too many assumptions, but I just wanted to give it a little try. If anyone has any better assumptions or betters ways of doing it, please let me know
I’m ngl this made me miss grsmash and zero, but you the fact you found a way to replace both of them makes me very happy. Thank you hungrybox. Thank you.
I decided to take Hbox's challenge and see how much force (N) was used on that poor controller lol So the formula for force is M*A / Mass * Acceleration So, normally it would be something like a car is going 60m/s and has the mass of 25000 kg. You can put that into the equation but here it's different SOMEONE is putting force on the object that's moving so this is what my theory is. Get the force of the controller and multiply that by the person's weight F = M*A | F = 0.4kg (400g) * 0.55s Since the average gamecube controller's weight is around 0.4kg, I will be using that as the mass. The time it took from the controller to leave that dude's and was 0.3 - 0.5s I will use the average of that which is 0.55s. The force would be 0.1N Now the average weight of a human is 195lb which would convert to around 88.4kg Now, I multiply the force to the mass, 0.1*88.4 = 8.84N The force exerted would be theoretical be 8.884N. I'm sure there are more accurate ways to do this. I'm a freshmen in highschool idk that fancy stuff.

Was bored and thought it would be fun to Calc the force the controller hits the tripod at around 10:40.
Step by step:
gravity=9.81m/s^2
mass of controller = 0.2kg (avg weight)
Mass camera+tripod = 3.039kg
(^ taken from Adorama.com travel tripod)
Distance from center to outer leg approx 0.4572m
Camera rotate approx 15deg = 0.2618rad in aprox 0.75 sec so angular velocity = 0.34906
Solving for velocity using formula for angular velocity and assuming moment of inertia of a rod for tripod (for simplicity) gives a velocity of 0.8083 m/s
Solving for force of friction of tripod when weight is 3.039kg, gravity is 9.81, and coefficient of friction is around 0.65 from engineeringtoolbox.com
All of this gives a force of friction around 19.378N
Assuming Contact angle of controller with ground is 45deg (for simplicity) solving for velocity in the x direction using the 0.8083m/a found previously gives 0.571544 m/s which can then be plugged into F=0.5mv^2 to get another force in the x direction of 0.032666N
Now I just summed forces in the x direction to get 19.3455 and then found the magnitude of the entire force using trig again to get a final answer of around 27.35867N
Made quite a few assumptions here, but to me this sounds reasonable and I hope you find it sufficient too. Still working on my ME degree, but I thought it would be fun to see if I could even do this problem and apply what I’ve learned. Love ya HungryBox!
