Red Flags: 1. "Team" of lawyers 2. Trademarked a silhouette of her likeness 3. "Creative rights and integrity of her work" 4. Never spoke to Ms Broadbridge 5. Overall, an ivory tower academic (and now media personality?) punching down on a production that was so big it had an 8-person cast and even a band member from Canberra.
I think you're being a bit over the top with point 5. My guess would be that the team of lawyers have been enlisted either by a management company or PR firm to handle Raygun's affairs and they are acting very broadly to protect her image while she gets on with her life. There is a pretty good chance Raygun didn't even know about this musical until it made the news. Most people who have any kind of notoriety, either good or bad, simply don't have the time to deal directly with how or when their image is used. Also unless Raygun is making a ton of money from her image (doubtful) then she will probably end up broke in the long run which is sad, regardless of what I think of her performance at the Olympics.
Someone doesn’t have a sense of humour. I mean if someone made a musical about me, I’d go to it and have fun, and wouldn’t care one bit, so long as it wasn’t made purely to be mean.
Call it GunRay. And the main's character's name is Rebbeca Gun, or Rachel Gum. Then add a legal note at the beginning that says any portrayals of any real persons is purely coincidental.
What's a trademark worth in Australia? Katie Perry, real name, trademarked her name as a brand. Katy Perry, real name Katheryn Hudson, lawyers had a court overturn the original verdict so she could sell merchandise in Australia. 💰😮🤔
Seriously, if you put her dance on 1.5 speed it looks much better but it still has some of the "silly" quality. She is slow. Like most of us. So her "dance" is not Olympian. And the kangaroo thing is really the private property of Raccoons. This sort of genetic and cultural appropriation will not stand.
Far out I wish this whole RayGun obsession would die off already. She is so entitled and such a whinger. So over it. I don't want to hear about her anymore. She tried to even copyright the name RayGun (a bid which failed) and now is going after a musical about her. What reputation is she trying to protect? Being the worst break dancer that anyone has ever seen?
It takes 4 years to learn that Olympic level move. Raygun is concerned that the move will not be performed the way it should be. Totally understandable.
Tbh, one may look at this as viscous mockery, unfortunately rayguns now infamous all for the wrong reasons and also iconic for also the wrong reasons She’s also probably taken a huge hit to her confidence and may see this as a mockery of what she’s inadvertently achieved She might even consider this as bullying
It is quite legal is most countries including Australia to make a documentary or other media about another person's consent. It happens a lot. Now you could potentially get sued for libel but of course then it would have to be proved you lied or make a mistake on purpose. Also parodies are more protected.
Just when you think she can't embarrass herself any further 🤣

i dare anyone to make a serious, non mocking Raygun musical without it coming across as mocking its impossible.
Can't dance , no sense of humour , sad...!

All I would ask is for a front row seat.
Exactly I’d be encouraging all I can get from it in terms of bringing people joy… but nooooo

Shogun? Oh no that's been done...
That title alone is worth a Like 😃
I think some indigenous dance troupes might take exception to copyrighting the kangaroo dance...
"Australian Icon" 😂
Wonder what William Hung would say about this. He took it like a champ.
She bangs !! She bangs !!
bring it to the states!!!!!!
I can’t believe she isn’t willing to to share moves with the greater breaking community….i m sure she copied moves on her way out of the streets
The comedian is funny at lease she knows what field she is in. 😂😂😂

Raygun is afraid the person performing the parody will dance btr than her
Cmon South Park , please do something
Becomes public figure then wants to completely control the narrative with lawyers most likely funded by the public purse.
Steph was great
Lol, raygun is so bad on so many levels i just have to see the musical, it can’t be any worse then joker 2 can it ,,,, 😂
Haha legal team, she talks like shes important or famous. Shes a joke and her husband how has she not been canceled?
Raygun was born a male.

She intends to monetise her "notoriety" herself. Doesn't want anyone to cash in before she does! A legal team hired....😮
Ray gun is an awful creature
Hehe this is funny
Maybe she should have consulted Rachel before and get her approval. It can be a sensitive matter for her still.
She needs to be paid if u want to make money off her story
