I am not sure what you are saying about valve clearance. The car has HLA's so I can't adjust valves. So far I have put another 5,000 miles on the car since the repair. The keyway damage was cause by my not torquing down the center crank bolt enough. I now have it torqued down to 120 pounds.
Yes, It turned out good for me. I don't know what will happen when the crank gear has to be removed again. But I just replace the crank seal and they usually last over 150,000 miles, so I am not worried about it, because at 350,000 miles on that car, it will put it at 500,000 miles.
Also its the torque of the bolt that is keeping it in place. So the Lactite was really just to put it in the right position, and stay long enough to be torqued.
Keep us updated on this fix. Doubt it will last forever. Gonna have to keep an eye on that.
