I had all sorts of weird electrical gremlins. Social media was telling me to check the Earth strap.
Auto electrician looked at it and said it defo couldn’t be the earth strap with my symptoms. But more likely sensor or ecu issue. Social media was right.
The earth strap looked fine and solid but was cause of weird running issues. The strap ran from negative battery to chassis. New one was fitted and it fixed all issues.
Also have you checked the wastegate is functioning correctly. If this is not opening and closing as it should it will give you the cel and can give similar issues.

When I was in the motor trade we used to send all ecu’s to a company called BBA reman. Give them a Google and maybe a call before sending it to them to see if they can help. All the best Mark and Debs 😊

I worked west midland ambulance service on these fiat's, we updated earth lead with a heavier duty one . Never ever had issue with ecu. We did have to replace engine wiring loom for your exact problem

That sounds more feasible to me, I worked in the motor trade for many years and dealt with all makes and models and we only ever replaced two ECUs.
I run two cars me n wife , 1998 petrol 1994 petrol , both can service in half an hour , I’ve had 4 campers all 90 s or less than 2007 , all can be serviced by me at home , repairs en route doable ,, we have been dreaming of a new ish van ,, but honestly I hear so many tales like this with new or newish vans ! Think we are gonna stay old school ,,

To get a true reading of what is going wrong you need the fiat computer as all these other obd readers don’t work correctly. A friend has the 10k reader and it still misreads. Get fiat to read it then someone else to fix from the printout
Thanks Nick, we had a pro read out, which has pointed towards this ECU, which can not be tested so looking towards the next step..🙏

@@nicklovell7745 Diagnostic technician , This flags up thats this is a possible engine ecu fault. First confirm the injector pins are tight and the connector on the engine ecu look correct, if all ok, it is recommended to have the ecu inspected or repaired.. this is what was recommended.
Fiat’s readers are connected to their own servers and to log on to them you have to be registered with fiat. All these other readers only give you a screenshot and not a full view. I’ve played this game a few years ago

Not sure if someone has already suggested but could swap out the ECU with a similar age/model Ducato from a local dealer or good Samaritan in your area??? Or a local car breakers yard?

Take it to iveco Dealer they are better than fiat
We had a problem with the earth lead from the starter not every time but it was happening a lot where it wouldn’t start after it had been running for a while it would then start after as about 10 minutes we had it changed then all was good

I am sure you will have checked but there are companies that can clone your ecu. Maybe buy a s/h unit and try that but if it is £1300 new ecu van fixed from Fiat then you get a warranty and back in the road.
When we once owned a Range Rover and it came out of warranty was advised each year of ownership to put £2k into a repair/maint account then the bills are not so painful.

It’s my Butstner with just over 2000 miles. Still at Fiat and been told 3 week wait for the replacement DPF. By the time we have the vehicle back we would have lost around 50+ days with it being in and out of various workshops. I am at the point of asking for a full refund.
@@deviate1966 I have been quoting this to everyone, it’s absolutely shocking, this is the Fiat problem not so much the Burstner, but all the same still shocking…
