Thanks! This is SO WONDERFUL! I have worn a 3/4 cap hair piece style I found 4 years ago, but find I am beginning to need something else. I get a lot of compliments on my hairpiece and no one can believe it isn't my own, but now my hair is getting thinner in the back, so I need some hair to come further down the back. In looking at other toppers, I can't find another 3/4 cap I like - although there are so MANY cute FULL wigs to choose from. Now I can shop for a full wig with the style I like, and start cutting!!!!! YEA!!!! I'll be right over to Godivas to look around. :)

Please make a video on all your long and medium wigs turned into toppers. You don't have to cut them, just show how long they would still be when all the wefts have been cut off.

When cutting back after the first trim I'm assuming the ear tabs are left & if so do they still lay flat without the adjustable band at the nape which helps hold them down, or are clips necessary by them?
Hi Mary, After the first cut, since the wig no longer has the back bottom section, the ear tabs have nothing to anchor them down or sit in the same place as when it was a full wig. You might find that it is necessary to remove the ear tabs or just continue to follow Danielle's instructions for the next step which will give you a more traditional top piece. Either way, you will find that you need to sew clips in to anchor and keep your new top piece in place.
what about cutting a top piece from a full lace/ front lacewig is it different? and id like to actually make the top peice into ANY shape i want, is that possible or i can just cut the bands and not cut through the extensions?
Holy cow! I spent over $2,000 on a human hair full top piece that was about 14 inches long all the way around. By the time we finished cutting and styling, it is nothing but a short top piece. Plus, because it's human hair, I'm afraid to wash it myself. This video has been a big help.

I see in the comments below, you said it was the thick Candice, is the density on the thick Candice similar to your mono top long topper, after cutting the wefts off? I love the mono toppers that I already have, but they do not come in champagne, which I would love to have, but Candice does. I just would like to know the difference in density between the thick/thin Candice and the mono topper (long). My Godiva toppers are by far the most comfortable of all the ones that I have purchased lately.

I need your help. I have short hair and am balding on top. I have worn some full wigs for years but they are so very hot and I just can't do it all the time. It makes life miserable to go outside. My wigs are pretty full on top and sides and I tried cutting them like you do but then I ended up with a short wig with heavy full hair on top and it doesn't blend at all. How can I take some of the body & hair out of the top without destroying the wig? All the top pieces I see are long and flat. I want a little body in my top but not something that looks like a fake wig. I appreciate any help you can give. I am 65 and so depressed about my hair.

Thanks! This is SO WONDERFUL! I have worn a 3/4 cap hair piece style I found 4 years ago, but find I am beginning to need something else. I get a lot of compliments on my hairpiece and no one can believe it isn't my own, but now my hair is getting thinner in the back, so I need some hair to come further down the back. In looking at other toppers, I can't find another 3/4 cap I like - although there are so MANY cute FULL wigs to choose from. Now I can shop for a full wig with the style I like, and start cutting!!!!! YEA!!!! I'll be right over to Godivas to look around. :)

Please make a video on all your long and medium wigs turned into toppers. You don't have to cut them, just show how long they would still be when all the wefts have been cut off.

When cutting back after the first trim I'm assuming the ear tabs are left & if so do they still lay flat without the adjustable band at the nape which helps hold them down, or are clips necessary by them?
Hi Mary, After the first cut, since the wig no longer has the back bottom section, the ear tabs have nothing to anchor them down or sit in the same place as when it was a full wig. You might find that it is necessary to remove the ear tabs or just continue to follow Danielle's instructions for the next step which will give you a more traditional top piece. Either way, you will find that you need to sew clips in to anchor and keep your new top piece in place.

Hi there! We suggest using a wig with wefts for creating a top piece so that you don't actually cut the hair itself.

Holy cow! I spent over $2,000 on a human hair full top piece that was about 14 inches long all the way around. By the time we finished cutting and styling, it is nothing but a short top piece. Plus, because it's human hair, I'm afraid to wash it myself. This video has been a big help.

I see in the comments below, you said it was the thick Candice, is the density on the thick Candice similar to your mono top long topper, after cutting the wefts off? I love the mono toppers that I already have, but they do not come in champagne, which I would love to have, but Candice does. I just would like to know the difference in density between the thick/thin Candice and the mono topper (long). My Godiva toppers are by far the most comfortable of all the ones that I have purchased lately.

Since you're loving our Top Pieces, I'd say that Candice wig in Champagne-R will make you happier than Thin Candice as a Top Piece. Candice wig is closest to our Top Pieces. Thin Candice is a much thinner, straighter wig. Hope this helps!!

I need your help. I have short hair and am balding on top. I have worn some full wigs for years but they are so very hot and I just can't do it all the time. It makes life miserable to go outside. My wigs are pretty full on top and sides and I tried cutting them like you do but then I ended up with a short wig with heavy full hair on top and it doesn't blend at all. How can I take some of the body & hair out of the top without destroying the wig? All the top pieces I see are long and flat. I want a little body in my top but not something that looks like a fake wig. I appreciate any help you can give. I am 65 and so depressed about my hair.

Can you do this with a capless wig ?
Hi Annabelle, This technique is designed to be used with a wig that has wefts and has a base to give you a guideline. You would not want to cut the hair itself. I hope this helps.

Fantastic video. I would never have the nerve to cut my wig apart. It's in a closet, in the wrong color. It's human hair, so why not dye it and cut it.?

We don't suggest cutting off the ear tabs, especially if your wig is a different color than your own hair. The ear tabs cover your hair and hide it. Here is a link to our 300 more wig videos:
