What I love about this is that even when he's writing something as silly as this, Neil Hannon's fingerprints are still all over it. I've always thought that the countermelody in the second verse was rather lovely and just quintessential Hannon.
Went to see The Divine Comedy 4 days ago and Neil actually sang this. Feckin hilarious and he said we should count ourselves lucky because he doesn't sing it very often. I love him and his music so much. My favourite singer/songwriter ever. 💕
