Personally, i am one of those people who weren't too thrilled about Boba's depiction in this. Not because i want him to be a one dimensional character, though. The main two things that bothered me were a) seeing Boba being so bad at being a crime lord (not to mention a crime lord who didn't seem to fond of crimes) and seeming to not know anything about how this stuff works, despite having been a part of this shady side of the galaxy for almost 30 years at this point and b) things like in the first episode, when they were attacked by the assassins. where he seemed really incompetent despite being, well, Boba Fett who should, by all means, wipe the floor with these goons without having to rely that heavily on Fennec.

As a Maori New Zealander myself, I appreciate what Hector was saying. There is definitely some Maori influence in the modern portrayal of Fett, and having that stem from his experiences with the Tuskens justifies it organically and creatively, as well as serving as an interesting story. Plus it can only be told in this way; A novel, a movie, a game, a comic, couldn't do it justice like TV can.

Probably one of the best Star Wars television episodes in general. It highlights the potential of what makes these shows so compelling, how they can take an often overlooked aspect and add so much depth and lore to it. The Tuskens aren't just generic savages or "sand people" but a unique and complex society made up of many different tribes. It allowed us to empathize and even sympathize with these people who only wish to live peacefully in their native land but are under constant threat from invaders to their indigenous homeland. It's likely been pointed out by others, but the episode drew a lot from the film Lawrence of Arabia, based on the real life figure who whilst working for the British helped the Arabs overthrow their rulers in the Ottoman empire during the Great Arab Revolt. The way Boba, a foreigner like Lawrence, helps the natives overcome their oppressors is a cool parallel (though in reality the British empire, whom Lawrence served, had no real interest in liberating the Arabs and would go on to oppress them themselves merely exploiting the conflict as a way to get at Germany's ally, the Ottoman empire).

As a Native American I appreciate your observation Hector. Also having been to NZ, theres some very close simularities between Tuskan culture and Maori Culture.
Also the two at the desert bar, those were Lukes homies..i cant remember their names.. Camie and something lol

I love that they've continued the western theme into this show. The Mandalorian is about a lone gunslinger who saves an orphan and travels with him through the wild west of space, forming a bond. The flashback sequences in this is the classic tale of the old cowboy falling in and being accepted by the indigenous people of the land and being accepted by them.

Watching you guys enjoy this, makes it more enjoyable for me. The three way orgasm over Black Krrsantan was so fun to watch. I love that Star Wars has gone back and said hey maybe we don’t just have to trash everything that was canon, maybe we can use certain things. Boba knows the Wookiee or at least knows who he is because of him mentioning, “I won’t die like”, he’s alluding to what this Wookiee is known for and he knows he’s disgraced amongst his people, an outcast. I’ve always been a Star Trek guy, it’s my thing, always has been, always will be but these shows have made get into Star Wars. I’ve enjoyed the films but not with the understanding that I have now of the mythos and the actual heart of the lore, really enjoying this.

Kia Ora from Aotearoa / New Zealand. The Wookie Bounty Hunter is my new toy need. Sideshow/Disney got on that! There are so many references to Maori culture and Colonization in this episode. The weapon is akin to Taiaha and the rituals around it. Taiaha is a traditional Māori weapon and is a short fighting staff weapon made for close-quarters combat. Carved from either wood or whalebone, these weapons are treasured items. The Hei Taiaha symbolizes the Māori warrior culture. The final dance is a kin to Haka which is a ceremonial Māori dance or challenge. Haka are usually performed in a group and typically represent a display of a tribe's pride, strength and unity. Looking forward to future episodes!

what was awesome with the back story of the sand people is how the sand people leader explained that their are basically civil and non civil sand people, those who are fixed on stealing and warfare and others simply trying to survive. And in this episode, really breaking it down from the sand peoples point of view.

Thanks, Hector! Thanks, Adam! Thanks, Agustin! 🌟 That Wookiee ya'll got excited over is 'Krrysantan' and he has a long history in the comics, including brushes with 'Boba'. The two young humans at Tosche Station were 'Fixer' and 'Camie' recast from A NEW HOPE deleted scenes. They were friends of 'Luke' and 'Biggs'. Such an excellent episode... and I'm ready for more.

Also to inform you that place was Tashi Station and the couple that was getting strong armed by the speeder gang were Fixer and Camie(Luke’s friends from the OT).
Plus remember what I said about the symbol that the gang left on the homestead in the last episode was a jab at Kennedy and well the scene where Bona comes in and opens a can of whip ass on the speeder gang was Jon and Dave F taking Star Wars away from Kennedy and it was perfect.

That Wookie is Black Krrsantan from the Star Wars comics. I loved that they brought him into live action.
Also that scene where he fights those guys for the Speeders is Tashi Station. The same one that Luke wanted to get power converters from. Those two people who they stole their drink and food from are Luke's friends from this deleted scene!

I just can't believe how accurate Jabba's palace is, you'd think they just kept the original set somewhere in storage all these years. But then again, these guys faithfully recreated a set from Episode IV that wasn't even in the final cut. I suspect a grim fate awaits Boba's adoptive tribe since when we see him in The Mandalorian he's alone(except for Fennec) and I doubt he would've been so quick to leave them just to go get his armor

The two humans at the bar were Camie and Fixer, childhood friends of Luke and Biggs. The bikers were terrorizing Tosche Station where Luke wanted to hang out with them and pick up power converters. Cool that they still hang out there. The two were going to be in A New Hope, but the scenes with them didn't make it into the final cut. Obviously, these are new actors since the original ones aren't that young anymore, but it's still an awesome reference.
Loving the Tuskens being fleshed out more and more. BTW, I think the elite Tusken Warrior's female. It's played by a woman at any rate. A professional stuntwoman who's doubled in films for Marvel, DC, and others. So of course, they have her doing badass stunts and fight choreography here too. lol
The Wookiee was an elite bounty hunter straight from a run of Star Wars comics BTW. Black Krrsantan is his name, and he was a former gladiator. The Hutts are physically no threat, but it's still a bad idea to move on them unilaterally with the bounty hunters and assassins their money and power affords them. That's why Fennec was warning they should get the permission first.
Anyone else think the flashbacks will probably end with showing Boba rescuing Fennec from death? If not the end, it will probably be the next flashback we see unless Boba did something else with the Tusken tribe he befriended.

"No, no, you're doing fine.... A bit silly that you didn't have to MAKE your lightsaber... Bit nepotistic..."
