The day when I got of Kathmandu to Bungamati, in the attempt to meet and visit the Kumari and her family. Kumari, or Kumari Devi, or Living Goddess - Nepal, is the tradition of worshiping young prepubescent girls as manifestations of the divine female energy or devi in Hindu and Buddhist religious traditions. The word Kumari is derived from the Sanskrit Kaumarya, meaning "princess".

I am Syifa, an Indonesian female solo traveler, who started solo traveling in 2013. I enjoy budget traveling by staying with locals, motorbike riding but also like to explore local food.
After working for the government till 2016, I left Indonesia to pursue long-term traveling. As naive as I was, it only lasted me for 5 months throughout Asia. In January 2017 I moved to China for an English teaching job, which was considered to be my first living abroad experience. Stayed until May 2018, living in China has changed me, in a good way.
I love traveling and creating travel videos on TH-cam. It is such a rewarding work for me that I do wish this would last me for a while.

During my travel in Nepal, I kept trying to figure out what sort of cultural activities or history that may have not been exposed that well by other vlogger. I came across the article and documentary about KUMARI, the living goddess of Nepal.
While in reality, I dont support the idea of turning a 4 y.o girl to be worshipped and be returned to her family once she starts her menstruation, I was trying to understand and respect different cultural belief because that's one of the reasons why I travel.

You get good aila and choila in Bungamati/Khokana ... and enjoy it with some interesting stories about their ponds.
I read somewhere that the ponds are special before it was hit by the earthquake. I didnt stay for too long but thanks for your recommendation :D Hope you enjoyed this one!

I was doing my thesis is traditional Newari architecture, I flunked. Aila (local Newari traditional alcohol) around Sankhu, Changu Narayan and Bungamati were too good for my career. Professional hazard, lol.
