Most call that a “pig rail” I call it a puppy rail. It gives the pups a place to go rather than be pinned against the wall in case mama falls asleep on them. Hi. Thanks for sharing those moments. May be a dum question but I have no idea. Who is responsible to put the puppies in the mom's nipple to feed? Does the puppies crawls by themselves or humans put them there. Thanks
Great question! It’s a little bit of both. We place the pups on nipples when we see them struggling. The momma dog puts her saliva on the nipples to help them find milk. The pups can smell her saliva. Hope that helps!
At least once a day, or as needed. Whelping day is quite messy. After that momma dog keeps the box pretty clean. The older they get the bigger the mess. 👍
