Some animal shelters have more than cats and dogs. There are ones with pigs, bunnies, reptiles, equine, and even alpacas all looking for homes🤗 (just FYI in case someone reading this thinks they need to pay hundreds or thousands on an animal)

I actually have a friend in New Zealand who runs an Alpaca wool farms and their wool costs like 2500 NZ dollars for an entire Alpaca's worth. Plus they are huggable and social.
I paid 90$ for a Nile monitor (very large lizard) that I was later offered $10,000 for because of how friendly and impressive he was for his species. My Nile is not only potty trained, he follows voice commands AND many hand gestures including pointing. I refused because family now and he's 1 in a million. I could never find another one thats as colorful, intelligent, or as well behaved as he is. Ironically, someone also tried to buy my brothers dog for $10,000 years earlier. He refused also because you don't sell family. Honestly rich people confuse me lol. If they asked me to train an animal for 10grand, I'd be more than happy to! But im not going to sell them MY pet for anything.
Also, FYI. No kill shelters choose what animals they bring in. So they take the dog with little to no problems, over the dog with severe separation anxiety. So just a little food for thought. Id get out there and adopt from a city shelter if possible. But i applaud no kill shelters none the less.
Omi B This organization (Best Friends Animal Society) has locations all over the country and a huge sanctuary in Utah where they take animals from anywhere in the US no matter how many problems they have and who would otherwise be killed and care for them for life. Other No Kill shelters can be what you’re describing but it’s important to always do background research based on the specific shelter/ organization whether it is no kill or not
Omi B buying a dog from a no kill shelter is like killing one in a kill shelter. Knowing that you could’ve saved some poor dog but you went to a no kill shelter and bought one. But I think no kill shelters are a great idea:)
All pets are worth it. If you see a dog that’s 17$ and buy it just because it’s cheap, what kind of person would you be then? If you buy a pet for 100,000$ and love it, then the price tag doesn’t matter in my opinion.
"kill" shelters aren't the problem. It comes down to lack of space, funds and support. No shelter wants to kill an animal, but it comes down to the fact that the medical expenses, and care expenses for one animal, would be enough to save 5 or 6 animals. Shelters want to see every animal be saved, and adopted. They never want to put down animals they cant care for. The shelters are over-crowded, but under-funded.
I used to have a pot belly pig (mini pig) and they are soooo sweet, beautiful, talkative, fast, and they smell like maple syrup... Also they know when you are in your feelings and are very social

Some times is a cheap mutt simply a hell alot better pet then an expensive pure breed and some expensive exotic pets are a pain to have so most ppl would be happier with a cheap common pet.
I think a lot of people are totally misinterpreting the title... The ongoing series of the "Worth It" series is comparing an expensive "item" to the cheapest "item" they can find. They are in NO way saying you can put a price in a pet (great pets are priceless!), nor are they saying pets are just like an item.

I think a lot of people are totally misinterpreting the title... The ongoing series of the "Worth It" series is comparing an expensive "item" to the cheapest "item" they can find. They are in NO way saying you can put a price in a pet (great pets are priceless!), nor are they saying pets are just like an item.
