    I just built my wife a ryzen 5 5600g, it posted right away (lucky me 👍) first thing I did was flash the bios it’s the first time I’ve had a new pc with such a new bios. Love the 550 board, very user friendly bios. I found the setting to let my system use 50% system ram for graphics (I used 32g 3200mhz) I’m extremely impressed with the 5600g it’s way better than I was expecting. Plan to make a video on it.

    I recently purchased a 32GB RAM update for my PC, as I though it would help my FPS with the game I've been playing recently (Escape from Tarkov). I used my old 8GB sticks with these new ones, because they were the same speed, same models and everything, but sure enough I've run into some issues (mainly it seems my computer struggles when coming out of sleep mode, and opening Task Manager). I also did not touch BIOS after putting in the new RAM, as I was afraid to mess things up. Now I'm gonna follow your BIOS settings on this video to hopefully fix my issues. I have my sticks plugged in a configuration of 8/16/8/16 and was wondering if I should just keep the new 32GB installed and forget about the old 16GB? Or are the issues more on the side of skipping the BIOS settings? Also, I'm not sure if relevant but I have an Nvidia GPU, not an AMD.

      Well awesome my friend, I am very happy you enjoyed it and your kind words, it means the world to me. If your device is Gen3, and cannot work on Gen4, you switch it to Gen3, if its gen4 you set it to Gen 4 so that it doesn't perform Gen3 speeds. Mostly all devices are backwards compatible, but you will receive less performance. I hope this helps, if not, please do ask, always happy to help.

PCie could mean nvme ssd, gpu etc, i could for sure check for each which "generation" they are i guess ? but still to which parameter this "PCI-E1 Gen Switch" refer to. as chipset gen, like for exemple usung a ryzen 7 5800X with same B550-A pro what is the chipset gen ?? where i get the info ?

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      PCI_E1 is your 1st PCIE slot, where your graphics card is. Auto is generally safe because it can switch in between 3 and 4 as it needs, but if it is a Gen4 card, its best to switch it to Gen4.
      Correct, there are many PCIE devices, the device in E1 is the graphics card. For these kind of videos I give an overview of everything, I don't get very specific because I will lose more people I am trying to help. What graphics card are you using?
      And yes, you would check for each device, because more than likely, they are not the same as to what I am building to which is again, why I don't get incredibly specific.

      I was a product development engineer, I got stuff before customers would see it, I liked to find broken stuff and fix it for manufacturers, so I would test BIOS', I like to find broken stuff. That being said, I like to be on the latest and greatest. But as a customer, you have to plan it out. Look at the version you have now, then go to the boards support site and see what the latest version is and see how many BIOS versions are between yours and that version and see what has been fixed between those. If you wouldn't mind, I would like to help what is the manufacturer and model number of your board?
      You can find it using CPU-Z, download it and run it, then click on the Mainboard tab and you can get that there. Also, you will see BIOS there as well, tell me what it says under version and date just below that.

    Very helpful video!Is it safer to update bios before building system?

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Happy you found it beneficial. I can't really give you a straight forward answer on that.
      Updating the BIOS can be beneficial in most situations, to resolve security vulnerabilities, fix hardware/firmware bugs, add compatibility to new components, or if there’s a major system enhancement update available.
      If you’re building a new system and the motherboard may not recognize the newer CPU, updating the BIOS before installing the operating system could be necessary. For example, if you’re using a newer AMD or Intel CPU with an older motherboard, you might need to update the BIOS for the motherboard to recognize the CPU.
      Updating the BIOS does come with some risks. If the update process is interrupted, for instance, due to a power outage or incorrectly installed hardware it could potentially render the motherboard unusable. Therefore, it’s crucial to ensure a stable power connection or backup during the update process and of course that everything has been installed correctly.
      In conclusion, whether it’s safer to update the BIOS before building the system depends on the specific components you’re using and the current version of the BIOS. Again, its hard to answer that question with a before or after.

    • @ThisBytesForYou
      @ThisBytesForYou  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I would say the X670E, not because its MSI vs Asus but for a few reasons.
      The X670E chipset offers more PCIe lanes for high-speed devices such as NVMe SSDs and multiple GPUs, more overclocking support, and possibly more USB and SATA ports.
      The B650E-F chipset would likely be more modest in terms of features, possibly offering fewer PCIe lanes, limited overclocking support, and fewer USB and SATA ports compared to the X670E but it really depends on your use. What will you be using this system for?

      Well, the overclocking in this case would be for the graphics card, an AMD card, you have an NVIDIA card. For you, you can't just overclock anything and expect it to work, you need to spend hours tweaking and tuner, playing with voltages and such, slowly bumping up the speed 5mhz at a time, and there is no guarantee at all that you will be able to get a 400mhz overclock. Go in your BIOS, go to the help section in easy mode then press F6 to load Optimized Defaults, save and exit, and go back in the BIOS, load XMP. Dont play with anything else, voltage or speed and see what that says. Also, what BIOS version are you on?

      I fear you may have changed WAY too much to go back, upgrading to Windows 11 then back but also changing MBR to GPT and then enabling and disabling CSM, I would not recommend it. Windows 11 is awesome, it works great and is current, Windows 10 is End of Life next year, I highly recommend going over to 11. Anyway, you cannot move back to MBR from GPT without wiping and reloading.
      With GPT you have 3 partitions, in your boot devices you have Windows Boot Manager, that has to be your main boot device.
      DO you have this as a boot device?

      Ryzen 9 is a Series, like Honda Civic, Honda Civic what, Coupe, Hatchback, Si Sedan, etc and then the year? Here is a list of Ryzen generations: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Ryzen_processors
      There have been 8 series of Ryzen 9, with all series included, there have been 31 different Ryzen 9 processors. You can find your exact model number by right click on the start button (In Windows 11) then selecting "System", there it will read your processor under Device Specification. Or if you have not installed it, its on the CPU or the box.

      1. Make sure your on the latest BIOS, even though it is a beta: 7D43v1J1(Beta version)
      www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-B660M-A-DDR4/support
      Make sire you are using the latest Chipset Driver especially after you update you BIOS: www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-B660M-A-DDR4/support#driver
      After you update the BIOS, go back in the BIOS and go to the exit section and select "Load Optimized Defaults", save and exit then go back in the BIOS.
      2. Are you using the 8PIn EPS CPU Power or the 4Pin, or both?
      3. Make sure you are using XMP in the BIOS, and after you set XMP, don't touch any other settings for memory.
      4. Looks like your GPU doesn't use PCIE cables, so are you good, and would benefit from using the 8Pin EPS for the CPU.
      8. Is your HDMI cable 2.1, if its not, I highly recommend you buy an HDMI 2.1 cable, this can make or break this.

      5 (8?). I'm not sure, but I have a suspicion probably not. I've tried different cables I have at home without change, but I don't really know if those are 2.1 either. Will buy a new cable to test. Logically it seems weird to me that the output would work with the HDMI for the BIOS but not the OS, but I'm not going to pretend like I fully understand the interplay here
