I understand it's a tournament setting, but if I played like this with my friends, I probably would not have enough friends after for another game. Still interesting to see Catan being played at such a level.
My friends would just need to get better to keep up with me 😂.

Even so at some point you might get good enough to understand most situations and look at it from a more objective standpoint and not an emotional one
The most impressive win I have ever seen. From such an abismal position in the early game, you put yourself in the best position to get lucky with every action you did. And you did get lucky, many times. But thats what it takes to win from positions that would be abandoned by other players. You got a mono, you had a great opportunity to use it, you got those 2 VPs that you needed. Anyway, huge huge props to you man, it is DyLightful to watch you play the game
I was playing as Blue this game as my first Catan tournament ever, and somehow made it to the semifinals vs DyLighted with only a month or two of Catan experience. He table talked us really well and played good! In the end, I really didn't like my position, hopefully, I'll have a chance for that rematch!
I think cooperating with him still gave you your best shot at winning the game anyway. He gave some pretty generous trades.

I think Dylan somewhat overestimated his trading power using wheat. Because whatever he does, black does too (and eventually double). So he can't really set a monopoly price for wheat until black is embargoed by the table.
Watching Dylighted play is a true pleasure, loved the players working together this game.

Well, yeah. But essentially he made the table even with him, black and red. Blue was out, but red was very close as well.
Pulling a VP was his only shot for the next rounds.

On the turn you monopoly. After building a city (8 VP). You could have road built and traded the ores 3 for 1 twice for a road. road build (2) + 2 roads on board + 1 road is 5 roads getting longest road +2 VP and winning

Freaking amazing game. I think when Dylighted plays better players. We tend to get the full Dylighted in these games. Though I do love more content.
Could you give another second or two between when you say "pause the video and try to figure X out"? I end up getting spoiled before I can hit the pause button
27:13 This was such an annoying moment to watch considering the alternative storyline was that neither of you have cities and black just runs away with the game, Comparing who has a better city when it's a blessing to have one in the first place.
What about the 9-10 wood for the second pick? Get the 3:1 immediately and can expand over to the sheep

No one in that game deserved the win more than delighted. He had a good position at the start but got screwed almost out of the game till he got everyone to work together to stop black from winning. Ggs

You could’ve 1 at 38.16. You needed to build 1 city to get to 8. Then port 6 ore for 1wood,1brick to build a road+ road building to take road
you can't play dev cards the same turn you buy it and you can only play 1 dev card per turn

What's the reasoning behind not cutting off black with your first road going to the 4-3? You said red made a mistake pointing to the 3:1 port first rather than going towards the contested spot then you did the same. I know you 3:1d at the very end but with all the trades you were doing with your sheep and wheat you didn't need the 3:1 early either. Instead left the 4-3 open for black to plow for a long time and get them onto ore which you said was dangerous when they did get it. Also the weakness of your set up was low ore to pair with wheat sheep and double settling on the 4 would've helped.
I agree. That was the one mistake I think he made as well. But he would have to race red for it so he simply chose the safer option.

3:21 I'd point my road to the right. Settling on the 9 wood early is better than the 12 wheat with port.
You could easily get cut off by black who has much more wood and brick production
@@jandjhroco Black would rather go for 9 10 wood with port than plow White. Plus, if he plowed there, White could plow Black on the 8 3 Wheat on the other side.
@@Mephisto707 three for one port offers way more flexibility, and the chances are dylan will only need one expansion spot.

41:15 can't you just 3:1 ore and brick for wood, build 2 roads, and then road building for 6 roads and win with 11 points? You could build above black.
I don't play competitive Catan, so if settlements block the longest road, I wasn't sure. My bad if that's the case.
Settlements do block longest road. So pulling for the vp was his only option once black took his expansion spot
4 roads on 12 wheat and one road to 11-6 is 5 roads?
can you not build road past other players settlements? Is this why he didn't finish with road?

I would've put the 2nd settlement on the 9 10 wood, get the 3:1 port, and build to the 2:1 wood port
I think that basically locks you out of sheep in am OWS-setup, as both blue and black are faster to the only sheep settling spot for you. Blue could easily get to the 11/6/3, and black would be one road faster to the 12/11/6. However, I admit it would probably no be their priority.

You should try to speak slower and make less pauses. Maybe you make the pauses behind every word to slow yourself down but it feels a little bit like stumbling through your text.

When he had 9 points won't he had win if he hadn't made the city makes him at 8 and he saved 3 ore and 3 ore already in hand use them to 3:1 port for road and then road build and got the longest road
