Celty and Shinra are the cutest, possibly most stable relationship in that entire anime, but Shizaya is definitely OTP. I think I just have a thing for hate-ships really. Plus they've got a canon fangirl.

Ikr??? Shinra totally thinks its possible! And it's only logical since he knows both of them so well. I think he might know about Izaya's feelings for Shizuo... since he could already tell that he has a brittle heart and just doesnt want to get hurt, he probably count 1 and 1 together and it made sense to him. While on the other side Shizuo hates himself and doesnt think he deserves to love/to be loved, but if someone would truly offer him love...he will be able to love back...and Shinra just knows this

Ah Shizaya. I love this ship to death.
What attracts me to this ship is simply how different they seem to be, but are a lot a like if you dig deeper into the ship. Mostly how much of outcasts they are, even if they do have a friend or two. Shizuo for his brute strength and feeling that anybody close may get hurt accidently. Izaya's is more of his personality and that he embraces it fully, even if it means that nobody would really like him (Even Shinra can be annoyed at Izaya's antics).
They can also complete each other. While Izaya is fully aware of his feelings, he just keeps them caged because he is too afraid to get hurt bc of them, Shizuo hates himself so very much that he doesnt think he deserves to be loved... soo if Izaya could openly tell Shizuo how he feels, Shizuo could be able to return his feelings and feel better about himself altogether :D
I find that these two would have had to have associated with one another at some point due to both of them having one mutual friend. Shinra Kishitani. The fact that Shinra himself wanted them to know each other through high school and constantly kept pushing them toward one another means that occasionally they'd have had to have met.
Izaya himself at the end of season 1 also admits to Simon of Russia Sushi that he has an unnatural obsession with Shizuo it's also quite ironic that when he says this he happens to be laying against a "love" symbol. Now i want to think that maybe this was the artist/animators idea of a fun for shippers to maybe symbolize that Izaya does infact have feelings for Shizuo that aren't quiet hateful. There's also the fact that when Shizuo is working if he spots Izaya he will literally drop everything he's doing and chase after him much to the chagrin of his co-worker Tom Tanaka who never really seems all that phased and just kinda rolls his eyes at the pairs antics.
The final hint i got from the series was Erika. Erika is a massive yaoi fangirl and she brings a light hearted atmosphere to the whole Shizuo V Izaya by saying she thinks that really it's just pent up sexual frustration. She states openly several times throughout the novels that she thinks that there is something going on between Shizuo and Izaya and whilst the others seems to gawk at her for being insane and maybe having a deathwish, she seems to voice the thoughts of many watchers. A what if sort of thing. What if there IS something going on between the two a passionate affair that neither really know why it's happening it just does?
Of course we know that isn't the case but who knows really :3
I do love these two as a pair as there are many angles in which this pair can come together ...

I'm sorry, but I mentioned this somewhere else, Izaya didn't try to get her to kill herself but more of tried to show her how immature she was being. He told her that everyone lies and shows the reality that everyone is equal before their creator, hence no one is special. At the end of his speech he taunts her in a brutal fashion, not to get her to jump, but to test her, and see if she would take the lesson into consideration.

There is a height change of izaya having feelings for Shizuo first in the books his stated he thinks shizuo is cute when he is sleeping and that he has seen him naked before I got that from some videos and articles so it's not that concrete but if you think of it when shinra said izaya act very manipulative to protect himself so he will not get hurt because he is weak mentally so instead of loving one person he will love all to avoid heart ship so what will he do if he meets someone that he does love he will obsess over him saying he hates him just to keep that wall up to protect himself and if he takes out that one person the feeling will be gone because why else would izaya hate shizuo so much he says it's because he is a monster but he doesn't hate Celty like that so that's what I think but it's probably one sided with izaya having feelings and shizuo hates him but if izaya was stripped from all his work he would brake down shizuo hates that he is manipulative so if he lost everything maybe shizuo would help Idk you probably would read this any way

Also if you think about it, remember how Shizuo doesn’t want anyone getting to close in fear that they’ll get hurt? Well perhaps Shizuo wanted to be close to him from the very beginning, but was so terrified about that, that he forced himself to hate Izaya 🤷🏽♀️
It was from a drama CD, where Izaya said he saw Shizuo's sleeping face once and thought it was cute. And it wasn't that he "saw Shizuo naked" but that he wanted Shizuo stripped naked as a prank.

I love shizaya. The most funny thing about are the AU shizaya, did you know both of them have like 3 or more couples based on Psychedellics? It's amazing. Also, shizaya is kind of canon because the same Ryogo Narita wrote a "fanfic" (if you wanna call it like that) about Shizuo and Izaya relationship, is f*** beautiful (and short), is great because the author himself said that he respect the fandom of shizaya and is kinda hard to put this together in a relationship. (sorry for my creepy english).
My OTP, after the entire second season (all the 3 parts) is Shinra/Celty. I also ship Mikado and Kida, Mikado and Izaya, and the other shizaya couples. Sadly, now I don't like Mikado anymore so, I don't like those ships either, back in time, I was so obsessed.

Another hint over our obsession is that possible sexual tension. The way they look at each other, speak, act, it's all very UST-like. Can be construed that way. Which can make you wonder. It always looks like Izaya is flirting and if that's the case, what could the deeper feelings be? Speculation is massive in this OTPs fanbase.

I have to say for this ship what made me fall in love with it are the slow burns. Like damn, they made me work hard to enjoy those two and showed all the facets of the characters. I literally only know about DRRR! because of Shizaya. I like the fanfiction, despite not really getting into the show. Most of what I've read has been the friends to lovers type stuff, where all their fighting is just a game. The stories are out of context, so that's probably why they're more fun to read, instead of depressing.

Hold up! Have you even read the light novels or the manga!? In them Izaya never sent a text message to Rio telling her to commit suicide. In the light novels they (the girls) already wanted to commit suicide on their own with one no telling them too! They changed it in the anime just to make Izaya look like a shitty person!

There is another ship in the show I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on/see you do an analysis of, Celty and Shinra. :D I love those two being together. It can be a mix of so cute and funny (with the occasional bits of perverseness from Shinra) and I feel the finale of season 2 really cemented the two as one of my OTPs (yes I can't choose just one OTP I have multiple [Maybe I should call them ATP {all true pairings}]). There is still a bit of uncomfortable feelings left over from the finale though since *Spoilers* Shinra kind of took away Celtys head in order for her to stay with him, but I still feel those two are really cute together.
