- There are many ways to play a roll, and who is to say which is the right one. These are 3 actors who thought it would be a great idea to queer their performances to add greater nuance to their characters.
I'm loving the openness of Poe's actor at least lightly acknowledging the chemistry between his character and Finn. You said it well in that fans of that ship face tough odds of it becoming canon, but I'll hold out hope until we're told otherwise.

I love the Garak/Bashir ship, this just makes it's better in some ways, but it's sad the relationship was so misused :(
I think it is good when actors add too the the scripts they are given. It allows for a much more human character, not just the one that was thought up by the script writers. It is also nice when actors care enough to add to their characters.
When I first saw DS9 years ago I was especially drawn to the garak/bashir relationship. Wish they would've been allowed to explore that more cause there was definitely something there and it's always great to hear the actors' thoughts on it. As for Star Wars, it would be awesome if they made stormpilot canon :)
Yoshiko I really loved Odo and Kyra.
The second one reminded me how they treated Stiles and Derek on Teen Wolf. No matter how progressive they portray themselves as they couldn't let chemistry be chemistry and write for that.
That makes me very sad to hear. I'm not a part of the Teen Wolf fandom but I've been considering it since I've heard some great things.
My favorite instance was Roman Godfrey and Peter Rumancek in the Netflix series Hemlock Grove. In the book, it was obvious that Roman had fallen in love with Peter, but in the series the writers were trying to downplay that. So, the actors took it upon themselves to play up as much tension as possible, since they /loved/ the idea of the pairing!

Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor on Smallville. He was seducing Clark on a regular basis. It was fabulous.

The banter between Bashir and Garak is truly a solid Gold.
The Doctor and the "Tailor" - a romance for the ages.
In the Star Trek DS9 books it is heavely hinted that Garak had feelings for Julian and it is also hinted that he is in a relationship with another men at some point.

Great fun. As a fervent G/B shipper, I enjoyed this little look at their relationship. And I definitely thought Poe and Finn had enjoyable chemistry!
Garak was very much a gentleman. Even with all of his mysterious sides he never missed an opportunity for genteel chatter on any variety of subjects...and looking back on it all now I wonder if that was really just another clever way to extract information from someone when necessary. :)
Rick Riordan a Disney Hyperion writer can write 2 gay characters 1 Bisexual possibly 1 pansexual and a full on gender fluid character in MIDDLE SCHOOLERS BOOKS
This man got all this passed Disney, he isn't a small time writer either winning many awards and a semi large fanbase. I don't know how he can do it but maybe Disney is being more out there?
It's through books. So that was not nearly as risky as it is for Hollywood when you bring representation on the screen. Writers have a lot more influence over their works than directors do.
Awesome video! Another example of this: In the 1991 movie Hook, Dustin Hoffman and Bob Hoskins intentionally played their characters, Hook and Smee, as a couple. (As discussed by Hoffman in an interview in 2004.) While I don't think Hook holds up very well as a Peter Pan adaptation, I do think it's an interesting take on the characters.
I read somewhere that Eliza Dushku deliberately played her character Faith on BTVS as in love with Buffy.
ds9 being a family show was wrecked by the sapphic twist of the alternative Universe.
but, of course, gay or - G*ds forbid BI - men on trek would be just wrong!

I love it! I also noticed Garek and Bashir had romantic undertones in the series but was surprised that so many other people had noticed it and took that pairing so seriously. I was watching the show in repeats after it originally aired, so I had no idea as to why the shippers were so serious or so mad. Thanks for educating.

I remember hearing somewhere the Patrick Troughton (the 2nd Doctor) and Frazier Hines (Jamie) decided to play their characters on Doctor Who as if they were in a relationship as much as they could get away with. The two actors had worked together before, which is part of why their chemsitry worked so well on the show.
I think I read somewhere that on Warehouse 13 the actresses that played Mika Bering and Helena Wells purposely played their scenes as romantic despite it not being scripted that way.

Because it is canon that he is bisexual. It is written in the script. But in this video she talks about actors that add a sexuality to their character that is not mentioned in the script.

Stick to the screenplay? Those only allowed to describe surface level actions for a reason.
