    Just gonna say this. One of the sickest openings in gaming history. The transition from cinematic to gameplay is *chefs kiss* smooth and pure adrenaline.

    Game runs great, it feels super responsive too in terms of input. I still see people unaware of stability issues with Intel i9 processors posting discussions on Steam regarding crashing during the shader compiling upon launching the game. Glad I got rid of my 13900KF about a year back before this stuff came to light. AMD's PBO is much better in my opinion in terms of how it boosts the CPU but does so with defined power targets (that motherboards do adhere to) so, even under 100% load like during that shader compiling. It doesn't crash because it's not going beyond it's power capabilities.

    • @TerraWare
      @TerraWare  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting. Haven't looked at the Steam forums about the game yet. It's been great, the shader compilation was very quick on both my rigs. I had the game crash once on me on my RX 7900XTX and more than likely because I was running it overclocked.

    I just installed it and captured a video similar to yours just processing on youtube now on my 5800X3D + 7900XTX at 1440UW at very high and HBAO+ on. During game play seeing 85-110 fps range.

    • @TerraWare
      @TerraWare  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nice. I'm kinda seeing similar fps on the 4090 1440 UW. If this is anything like HFW which it looks to be I suspect the XTX and 4090 to be close. I'll eventually make a comparison just enjoying the game for now :)

    Although many people praise latest Nixxes PC ports, I do not think they are that good to be praised. They are OK, but far from perfect.
    Performance-wise, GPUs with similar specs to consoles, like RX 6700 perform significantly worse in these games.
    Plus, Nixxes ports are way too VRAM hungry. GoT is a PS4 game, which was ported to PS5 with minimal changes and the devs have not anounced any big changes in graphics quality for PC either. Yet, PC version can consume 9-10GB of VRAM even at 1080p, while PS4 runs this game at 1080p as well and offers only 5GB of unified memory for games.
    Another issue with Nixxes ports - DLSS upscaling does not reduce VRAM usage even by a bit. While in all other games we can clearly see that enabling DLSS even at Quality level significanly reduces VRAM usage.

    • @TerraWare
      @TerraWare  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have definitely noticed DLSS doesnt reduce vram when DLSS is enabled. I learned that when Ratchet and Clank was ported because I was running into vram issues on the 3080Ti at 4K with ray tracing. Game just launched so we'll do more digging into it but I do agree with some of your points. I have played the PS5 version a year or so ago through a month of PS+ or whatever their game pass equivalent is called and remember the game looking really good on PS5 which architecturally is a 6700 more or less.
      I may tear open that Directors Cut disk and throw it in the PS5 to see how it looks. I have noticed a couple textures on the PC version of GoT that look low res almost like they are not loading in properly which was something we saw in previous ports as well.

    • @bensmith5288
      @bensmith5288 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How do you know how much vram a ps4 uses?

    • @stangamer1151
      @stangamer1151 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TerraWareYes. Same thing with Horizon Forbidden West. Even after a few patches my 4070 Ti still runs out of VRAM eventually (during long gaming sessions) at 4K/Very High, even if I use Ultra Performance DLSS preset. So even though the game renders at 720p, it still consumes the same amount of VRAM as at native 4K. This is very strange behavior indeed.
      As concerns GoT, I doubt Nixxes improved graphics quality by much, compared to PS4/PS5 version. Very High textures definitely do not look super clean in this game. HFW texture quality, for instance, is much better in my experience. GoT looks more like a typical PS4 game, maybe with very slight improvements (like HBAO+ instead of SSAO), which do not really make any big changes.

    • @stangamer1151
      @stangamer1151 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bensmith5288It was discussed many times by many sources, like Digital Foundry. They claimed that game devs have access to only 5GB of memory on PS4 and 5,5GB on PS4 Pro. Remaining memory is reserved for system needs (OS, updates, etc.).

    the game runs very well on my 7900XTX, but the Frame Generation is broken, DRS is semi-broken, it keeps disabling itself randomly and has a very limited range for resolution. Also LSFG doesn't seem to work with this game.

    • @TerraWare
      @TerraWare  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I looked at FSR frame gen on my XTX. It seem to work really good. Will probably make a video about it tomorrow. I have all the footage captured. Didnt look at DRS, I usually never do.
      Other than that though yeah it ran close to the 4090 based of my memory although Ill probably do a head to head at some point.

    • @vyathaen
      @vyathaen หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TerraWare framegen looks like it runs well but it doesn't. The frametime graph is smooth, the fps is higher, but the actual smoothness of motion is much worse, feels like less fps than without it. Also causes tearing. There is a utuber called zWORMz Gaming that did video on it with an rtx 3060.

    83 FPS on a 4090 is kinda bad imo. I would expect a game that came out on PS4 could run on a 4090 with at least a consistent 120 FPS.
