I first read this story more than five years ago at this point. It was originally part of an Audiobook project I started to see what worked when narrating and what didn't. I owe a lot to doing the Tales of Arkhona project as it taught me a lot about acoustics, audio quality, pacing and correct pronunciation*. Ever since I first read Descent on Arkhona, I promised myself I'd come back and re-read one day, to see how far I've come and where to go from there. Now I think is a better time than any. Addendum: I hadn't originally intended to read Descent on Arkhona until later this month. Another story was meant to be released in February but due to combination of work and being out of commission for two and half weeks, due to a cold and sore throat, resulted in not having enough time to do the longer story. So this is coming first and the next story, a novella, will be released later this month instead.

I think your work is more than many could accomplish...however feedback is always a good thing. Having listed to hundreds of 40K and HH audiobooks, I've found the ones that don't over emotionalize the descriptions of the action are more polished and noteworthy. Great work JC...thank you.

Yes after listening back to these a few times, I've started to lean towards that position myself. I grew up listening to the likes of Martin Jarvis, Stephen et al, who have often done that so it has kinda influenced how I approach each piece of text. Each one requires its own balance so to speak.
The next two short stories coming up should be little more measured in that regard.

UPDATE: If you're wondering what happened to "Into the Dark" short story by Dan Abnett, I received a Copyright Strike from Games Workshop Limited so atm it's not available. I contacted GW and they responded with an apology, saying it was done in error. They have since contact TH-cam to retract the claim. With any luck, it should appear back on the channel soon.

Apologies. In short, I received a Copyright Strike from Games Workshop Limited so (at least for now) it's not available. Going to get it sorted out as soon as I can and I'll update you all as to what happens.
All okay! Got a response from GW. They said the claim was made in error and they have contacted YT to have it retracted. Hopefully it should be viewable again soon.
