@@tarekbendjenni7037 we’re from NY but it doesn’t make sense to move from one cold snowy wintry place to another. We’d spend summers there in retirement easily though
Been going to Mackinaw Island since 1982. Some summer twice. You missed touring the Grand Hotel, the worlds largest wooden summer resort. Love it and will be back soon..
I'll take the horses and fudge too!! Looks like Zeus was having a marvelous time. Such a great day and such wonderful looking weather too! Take good care and have a happy weekend...Bruce and Otis
That bridge looks so amazing and to hear that’s the 3rd longest suspension bridge is great. The beautiful town just looks like they come out of fairyland movie. No cars allowed that’s cool 😎 best way to explore this huge island is of course by biking. The stairs leading to arch rock is very steep, but the view is totally worth it. Did you say it was used to be a national park? That’s weird. Cannonball is a nice place to have a lunch at the middle of Forest.. definitely worth visiting this island for the beautiful nature. Another phenomenal video.
Noticed some additions to the Island since I lived there in ‘73, ‘75, honeymooned in ‘77, visited in ‘91 and in a couple of other years in the past 20 years. Met my husband there in 1975 through Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship!
This is awesome! Do the bike rental places provide bike locks for when you leave your bike behinds while walking a trail, or do you suggest bringing one?
Good question. I’m not sure. I can tell you this, we saw no locks ever. Everyone left their bikes out and went wherever unattended, including us. I think the bikes are numbered so there’s really no reason to steal them when you’re on an island haha. We never gave it a thought.
Yeah we were trying to word it the right way. It’s fascinating how they measure bridges, by their main span, and not total length. Mackinac is amazing and impressive though, and I was definitely shook by the wind.
How long did you spend on the island? Also- did you skip the grand hotel for a reason? We are going to the island in a couple of weeks so this is helpful!
Just a day. I think we took the first ferry in the morning and one of the last back. Other than passing the hotel on our bikes, I can’t say we know much about it other than it looks cool 😊. Hope you have as much fun as we did! It’s a great place and I do wish we would’ve spent at least one night, but it was a last minute decision to go.
@@MagellanandGreyhound we are staying on the mainland and will also only be able to do a day trip. Trying to decide if we can leave our dogs behind or if we will be gone too long. Our dog is too big for one of those cute little carrier
@@campinwiththeconfers that’s a tough call. I think if we hadn’t brought Zeus we would have still gone, but likely cut out earlier. Dog bladders aren’t that different from human ones. Do you think this island is really worth it? I have seen a few videos of it and it doesn’t seem very entertaining. We have a 10 and 13 year old who will be traveling with us
We loved it. The best part of our entire road trip. That said, not that our video is the greatest video ever made of it, I’d say if the video didn’t seem entertaining enough for you, it may not be entertaining for you. 😂😂😂 Hope that helps
I don't remember the exact cost (it wasn't insanely expensive), but the two ferry operators provide overnight parking. If you just go for a day trip, it's free.
Thanks for another great video. It was like a mini-vacation for me to watch!. Glad Zeus had fun!.
One of the most exciting days of his life! 😁

It really was. I'm not sure you'd put Otis in a burley, but you two would enjoy walking the island!
the island is so beautiful and love the history lesson, but Zeus steals the show! Great tour.
You’d really enjoy it. Hands down best day of the trip. Second place and third place are coming up soon lol

Nice video. I don't expect I'll make it that far, so it's pleasant to see the things other travelers experience.

Praise the Lord for you connection with Christ through IV. I met my wife at IV in Duluth.
Pretty cool place to bike around. I hope Zeus liked it. 😊
He leads a fairly boring walk around the neighborhood and park life. This was over stimulus for him but he loved it 😁
Recently the ice has been too thin during the winter to get back and forth safely save for a few spots
The entire idea of going over any part of a frozen lake is crazy to us! Would love to see it one day and visit if possible during the winter.
Greatest place on this wonderful planet.
We loved it loved it loved it!

I remember seeing tons of kids bikes. Not sure the sizes though. The last ferry back is 9pm I think during the summer season.
