I think you would love watching the live version of this. His wife sings backup and to watch him sing “to her” is so sweet and such a beautiful window into a strong man loving his wife. Also her voice is stunning. There’s one on here of her doing a solo that was jaw dropping. They are both so incredibly humble to be so very talented.

One thing we can all agree on no matter what our race,,,religion or whatever we all can appreciate a great soulful song and there is no doubt Stapleton nailed this version of TN Whiskey! You just don't hear a soulful country song such as this. Most country singers have that country twang in their voices. This guy has soul in his voice and can hit those notes!
He is a country artist but this song is pure blues. The time signature the chord progression is ALL blues. Him and JT do a great live version.
exactly correct. and actually (and a little sadly) it is really just "i'd rather go blind". if you listen to them, they are nearly identicle. this is a TWO CHORD song, by the way (A to B, and that's it folks).
and really a regular blues progession would normally include a third chord. this sort of swaying from one note to another, in such a great groove, is beautiful simplicity.

People always say they don't know what Tennessee Whiskey is but most know Jack Daniel's brand....that's Tennessee Whiskey.
Chris was raised on country, blues, blue grass etc. His wife Morgane sings back up and they have 5 kiddos.
I'm not a huge country fan but Chris Stapleton is something else entirely. The best way to listen is to close your eyes and ride the waves haha. Beautiful reaction!

Country and Blues share their roots in American Gospel. Few singers get the words out from their heart making all around them swoon. Young boys today may want to dance apart from a Beautiful Lady to watch her, old men like me just want to hold a Beautiful woman close and sway to the music with her.
When I was young these slow songs of love and admiration brought young Ladies comfortably close during the song making for great memories.

A bit of history for you. This song was written by David Allen COE, recorded but didn't sell to well. Then a few years later George Jones recorded this song and it went No 1 on the spot. Now Chris Stapleton re did the arrangement and it went No. 1 again
