It`s highly irrational. It`s like if you buy a gold ring to 1000$ and maby now you want a artisan made ring to 10 000$. The fallacy is that the first ring maby gave you some joy ( from zero ring to a ring). But the jump from 1000-10 000$ is not going to give 10X in joy. In fact the joy will maby give 10% in the first week, then it`s back to a baseline of maby 3% growt in joy from the orginal 1000$.

This guy strikes me as a very jaded middle-aged man who thinks all of his baggage is nothing but he’s highly judgmental towards women his own age. I bet he hasn’t dated a woman his own age in 100 years. To refer to older women as low hanging fruit, and they age rapidly, well, how about men? Men generally die before women, so obviously they age much more rapidly than women.
Low hanging fruit often has bugs in it, or bites from other animals. If you need quick fun, it's easy work, but not for dating.

Been there, done that. In my early 30s had a GF who was almost 10 years older. Divorced, with 2 teen sons. A couple months into the relationship she had the balls to suggest I get a vasectomy, even though she had already had a hysterectomy. So I wouldn't be able to knock up another woman. She was a super jealous type - Scorpio if you believe in signs. Anyway, I said no, not happening. We split up. I found another, younger GF shortly after. A few months later the ex saw me with her replacement and went insane. Begged me to take her back. Literally said she would do anything. I said no, it was too late. Glad I dodged that bullet.
The good thing about being an older guy (I'm 59 now, retired for 2 years) is that you come to realize that sex isn't the most important thing in your life. For me, a relaxing ride on my Harley, walking my 5 acres, planning my retirement home, catching a movie in the middle of the day. Would a good GF be nice? Sure. I continue to look. But there are few classy women out there these days, that one would call ladies. Most are trash, in my opinion. But a lot of guys are losers too, so I guess they deserve each other.
You are right. Most women are trash. They don't offer anything and/or have bad taste in their cars, clothes, etc. Classy women are extremely rare.

I’ve got interesting plot twist. Used to be in a relationship (yes, an actual relationship) with a women 7 years older than me. Don’t ask me why, it’s complicated but mostly because my insecurities when I was late 20. I was 25 when me met, she was 32. Neither me or her wanted to have any kids, she’s wasn’t a single mom. Just both not a parents material. She always looked down on me, it was more or less „you young stupid boy” attitude. It doesn’t matter what. Just don’t date women older than you. She won’t be respectful to you no matter what. Women HATE being reminded about her age and just looking at you she will remember „oh, right. I’m THE OLDER ONE”

I had a woman that was 6.5 years older than me take strong (re: obsessive) interest two years ago, and when I referred to her once as the 'older woman', she got very angry/annoyed, yet she would condescend to me constantly, reminding me that she had more life experience etc.

When we were 18 years old, a friend was having thing with a 36 year old women, she was double his age, we convinced him when he turned 30 years old she would be 60 years old, one night while out drinking! Math probably wasn't his thing. But to some of us she looked old at 36. Now im 50 years old and im stunned how women age, and the ones who have had work done look even stranger.

Had one that was 10 years older than me, she had a thing about the push and pull dynamic, whenever i did something negative for the relationship she came closer to me and it only lasted a few days/weeks and inevitably it would turn the relationship painful to be with her on a long term basis, it felt like a high school/party girl era environment without the intimate heat of neither.

Again, thank God I never actually got involved with her.

Maybe it's just me, but isn't 'dating' different than 'shacking up' anymore? I dated a couple of women twice the age of my current wife, but we never moved in together. Social events and sex a couple of times a week are very pleasant. You don't have to take full responsibility for someone just because you are dating them.

I got caught by this even while knowing not to do it. I was 34 and met a smokeshow who said she was 32. She looked mid 20's (I'm not actually retarded, she was Asian). Found out after 2 years that she was actually 42 with an adult daughter. It absolutely crushed me but I immediately removed her from my life. It was insane. I'd been providing for her for 2 years, she was a perfect homemaker, and she was beyond enthusiastic with me sexually. I found out by random chance. I think this is a bigger issue once you're more established. The whole thing blasted my eyes wide open.

Before I was learn the cold, hard truth about female nature, I was foolish and dated a lady in her mid 40's, and she was by far the most manipulative, needy, unforgiving, and exhausting out of the handful the women I've dated. Granted, I haven't been in many relationships to begin with, but she still stands out in all the worst ways. I've never experienced such an emotional roller coaster than when I was with her. Everything she said or did was under the sole intent to control me, devalue me, or bend me to her will. The amount of projection & emotional games she played was non stop! You say she is 42 but you don't mention your age. So how old are you? And how long have you been together?
It's biology, considering whether a man wants to father children, which is our "natural" biological role. Making a family is basically not possible once a woman is in late 30s. Pregnancy gets more dificult and has more risks to the woman and to the child. Risk of Down Syndrome increases 500 to 1000x between mothers aged 20 and 45. As a man, maybe you might want children later and in that case you would have to split and go with a younger woman. It's a matter of personal choices though and there isn't a one size fits all solution. If you're happy, stay happy.

I am married to a woman 4 years senior, and I definitely agree that's not for everyone.
The compensation I found in her was that she was very established in our common business field and she helped me professionally at the beginning of my career.
Rarely any woman wants to do that, that's how she bought me (besides her beauty) and afterwards we married.
There is no playing fools with woman of her status and experience, I can handle that, but it's not what I recommend to any of my friends.

I've refused to date anyone under 35 since I was 22 or so (54 now). I just can't stand to be around a girl much younger than that for even 5 minutes. "Older" is a matter of perspective. Through much of my years I dated women 2-4 years older than me. When in my 20s and 30s that was the case.
I didn't do it strategically. It just happened that way. I wasn't a Chad so chicks my age or younger weren't into me during those years. My qualities that I'm most proud of meant nothing to them.
My qualities were something that required maturity on the woman's part to see. They saw those qualities while the my-age-or-younger ones did not.
The only time I dated women my age or younger, was when I moved to Florida and met Latinas. They were different and I never dated American woman again. My qualities resonated with them in a big way. It started around the turn of the century.
