- Xbox 360 was regarded as one of the best consoles of its time. It competed with Playstation 3 and Nintendo. From an equal split between Xbox 360 and PS3 users, Xbox kept losing it’s users with coming generations. Despite gaining a decent player base, how did Microsoft fumble and lose the console war?

Basically, gamers said what they wanted, and MS didn't deliver. I remember at the tail end of 2012, rumours of the always-online/used game ban started coming out. Xbox fans were justifiably angry, and a lot threatened to jump ship to PlayStation. Microsoft did it anyway, perhaps on the assumption the PS4 would have the same restrictions. Which of course it didn't. Microsoft's terrible PR also didn't help matters. Such as one of their execs saying that people should just stick with Xbox 360 if they didn't like the online requirement. What that did was push everyone over to Sony's ecosystem. Now those people are locked in, and naturally opted for a PS5 instead despite it having largely the same library issues as the Series X/S. I think Xbox is starting to learn that they need high quality first party titles, rather than just leaning on third parties, but it's a little too late. I think they want to focus on streaming and Game Pass, which don't need a console.

One thing that's not true, xbox 360 was not when Xbox Live was created, it came out on the original xbox. The 360 just refined it.
The Sony PS3 was way better than the Xbox 360 because the PS3 had free online play.

@@aland7234 Sony sucks now because you have to pay to play online for a month or a year with PlayStation Plus on the PS4 and the PS5. And that's not all: Sony are getting more and more greedy because they want too much money for PlayStation Plus, too much money for their PS5 games, etc.. And back when the PS Vita was created, Sony wanted too much money for the Vita and too much money for the Vita's overpriced memory cards. I forgot to mention that the Sony PSP (PlayStation Portable) and the PS Vita also had free online play as well.

I have a launch ps5 I bought a month after release. I play the latest, most graphically taxing games on an almost daily basis, putting a combined total of 4500 hours on my ps5 and having a single issue. What overheating issues are you talking about? And yea, regardless if the sale stats are out of date, nothing has changed since 2021. The ps5 is still outselling both Xbox SX and SS 3 to 1. Microsoft simply gives NO reason to buy an Xbox over anything else. Forza Motorsport and Starfield are horrible games compared to everything else, like Spiderman 2 Boulders gate 3 Gran Turismo 7 God of war ragnarock and other games. And even if the ps5 had overheating problems, it doesn't matter because the ps5 has games like GOWR and GT7. I mentioned earlier and Spiderman RM, and MM, GOW4 TLOU part 1&2, GOS, RACRA. Yes, some of those are ps4 games, but all have been updated for and take advantage of the ps5s hardware, and their 3rd party game support is almost unrivaled.
@@xxneroxxx4996 I’ve never had problems with my ps5, but a lot of people are apparently. Because it intakes through the top, it sucks in dust from the top of the ps5 embedding it into the heat sink. Which is crazy from a giant like Sony.

Didnt xbox literally destory state of play and summer games fest with the xbox ahowacase this year? Playstation literally had no mainstream or exclusive titles releasing and not only that all the biggesy names and companies are bought by cbox or owned by xbox playstation has good titles absolutely but theres no way pkaystation is "destroying" xbox be for real💀

Not to mention pc can be played on a TV with ANY controller if you want to debate about "consoles being the king of casual play". @@Jose-ue3bu nope, I own xbox series x, ps5, two switches, a pc, and all the previous consoles including nes, snes, Nintendo 64, gamecube, wii, wii u, ps1, ps2, ps3, ps4, og xbox, xbox 360, xbox one, sega dreamcast, all the playstation handhelds, Nintendo handhelds. I just know what is the best, and anything tribal such as console wars are linked to low IQ. Just enjoy the games, don't partake in a war that has no meaning.

@@parkerburrus289 they have no new games compared to Sony or Nintendo and Nintendos new console isn't even out yet they have all those studios and don't release crap or they release literal crap in the case of Starfield and Forza Motorsport and then they killed a game studio that actually made them a good game stating it didn't make enough money when they released it on gamepass basically for free Xbox is trash now and has been since the launch of the Xbox ONE 😊

That comment was about as smart as your profile pic. We all know PCs are great but they are too expensive if all you want to do is game. There are so many things that just make PC gaming a pain in the butt I game will be running worse on a Hugh end pc then the ps5 and the XBOXSX and when I go to look up why I find that my drivers aren't up to date or when they are the driver is bad for a specific game and to play that game well I have to downgrade my drivers witch is a pain in the butt and sometimes my browser that I'm not using will slow down my games. Games crashing for no reason even if it's a game that uses less then 15% of my pcs resources sometimes a game will literally restart my pc and I'm not using old tech either my pc has a 12th Gen i7 a gen4 ssd windows 11 and RTX 3050 and then you have so many launchers, Steam, EA, Ubisoft, rockstar all of witch need to be frequently updated for my games to run properly I also play some of those games on my rog ally and have the same problems. So no pc is not better, With my PS5 I plug in my game and play that's it.
I'm not saying consoles are better but they do have they're place and PC is NOT objectively better. They are computers designed to do multiple different tasks. You don't see any of us console players telling smartphone users "my ps5 plays games better then your phone" because that would be silly just like the "PC is better then console" statement

Playstation has with every Generation a completely new Console and Controller Design, New and innovative functions like adaptive Triggers with the PS5 and banger Exclusive Titels.

1. Losing the console war does not mean they're out of the console business. As long as they're still competing, losing in market share doesn't mean anything. You don't need to be #1 to be profitable.
2. They literally NEVER SAID all games of Xbox would be on PlayStation.
