We've always been a thrifty clan. (I'm a MacKay, so I can make that joke.)

Great video! I visited the Highlands last summer, but didn't get time to visit Varrich, so it was great to see it from your excellent drone shots and detailed information

What a spectacular setting 😍 I always think its such a shame so little is known of the history of some of these places. They deserve to have their stories told in full frequently since they are a thread in the weave of our countries long magnificent tale and have proudly stood sentinel over the land for century after century. Thank you wee castle girl for your time and your dedication bringing these wonderful buildings to life and to our attention

@@thecastlegirl7033 Hi! You mention the castle can be visited by boat, is there a place from which you can hike there? If so, where to leave the car? Thanks!

Seems that it would have been a lookout tower and they would have used a ladder to get to the different floor levels. Thanks for sharing. God bless.

I would have been inside the tower taking in the feelings & contemplating how it might have looked when it was newly built, which you didn't give time for since you were busy whizzing around ! Otherwise a very informative video - thank you !

Another brilliant video; would it be possible to show a screen shot type thing of the locations from Google maps or whatever for those of us more familiar with the South of Scotland ? Thanks anyway !

    Hi,
Wonderful videos! I always enjoy the nice mix of aerials, inside shots, and detailed history. You obviously care a lot about what you are doing.
You are very fortunate to have seen these castles before the closures took effect. Do you know when more castles will open? Very few castles are fully open. HES has 80 sites that are fully closed. All “open” sites are still 30% to 70% closed, so it is tough to see everything. HES said they would be completing the evaluations on 3 sites each year. It took 3 years to do just one. That does not include any actual repairs. At this rate, it will take 240 years to complete the evaluations. Thirty percent of Scotland tourism is attributed to visiting castles. This will no doubt take a hit.
    Thanks,
    Sven

Thanks Sven for your statistical report. So glad you appreciate my work. This is a hobby for me so will continue documenting the castles I can access. Luckily most of the castles I love are ruins and can be accessed easily after hours. In 240 years unfortunately most will have vanished from our landscape. However my plight is to remember the historical value of how they shaped our society today.😢 xx❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Thats a hell of a structure for being so small. They don't believe it was part of something larger?
    Very cool.
