I have the multiple (5 ink cartridge version) so this video does not help, but here is a post I found that fixed my problem. It worked first time for me and reset the B200 error code:
    1. Turn OFF Power
    2. Open the print head bay (as though you were about to change inks)
    3. Turn ON power
    4. Wait for print carriage to start moving to the left and let it go past half way
    5. Before print carriage reaches left hand side (but after going halfway across) shut the cover.
    6. Leave the Printer turned on
    7. Good to go.
    Good Luck!

Wow, after fighting with my printer all day, cleaning the heads, replacing 5 cartridges, ringing Canon (who told me to get a new printer as the hard drive had gone), and going to a friend's for the crucial document I needed to print, I finally came home, and, not to be beaten, tried your advice. I replaced the ONE tiny black ink cartridge that had not been replaced already, and hey presto, I now have the crucial document printed (too late, the one my friend did has already gone off with Royal Mail) but I am happy, my printer is not dead, I was not beaten, thank you so much!

I took various methods from this comment section to fix the B200 Error message on a Canon MX922. I did the open cover method and close down before the ink tray made it to the far left. Then I changed the ink cartridges and the error cleared and I was able to print. Thank you all.

Did not work for me. I found a cartridge had leaked so cleaned out the ink tray and tried with no ink in tray. Still B200. So put new ink in. Got a message that it could not read black ink (slot second from left was empty), so I put some generic black for the MX922 into that slot, the rest is Canon ink. Still B200. I have printed less than a hundred pages on this printer. Keep it covered when not in use. Unable to run the "clean print head" utility now. Ready to throw this in the trash and get a new HP.

If the B200 code appeared all of its own, without you having caused it by some intervention, the the following applies. The B200 error code can be caused by several failures: 1)A bent pin on the carriage that mates with the print-head. 2) a lose cable that connects to the carriage. 3) A burned out logic board. 4) a burned out print-head. If the problem is 3 or 4, you must replace both the logic board and the print-head, because either defective part could cause the other to fail. 2) is difficult to verify or reconnect by the consumer. 1) is perhaps doable by the user, but rare to occur unless damaged by the clumsy re-seating of the print-head. Most people wash the print-head with hot water to clean completely the print-head, then dry it overnight. It works sometimes. Other solutions are not possible by the user and it is recommended you buy a new printer. A visible overheated or heat scorched print-head, means you have a burn out in the logic board and/or the print-head, throw the printer away.

After recent power outage at my home, my pixma mg 8220 suffered B200 error (wouldn't power up except to say "contact your service rep"). The instructions I found among these comments, posted here by Paul Chatigny 5 years ago, worked for me after many other suggestions failed.
    1. Turn OFF Power
    2. Open the print head bay (as though you were about to change inks)
    3. Turn ON power
    4. Wait for print carriage to start moving to the left and let it go past half way
    5. Before print carriage reaches left hand side (but after going halfway across) shut the cover.
    6. Leave the Printer turned on
    7. Good to go.
However, before these steps would work, I had to manually pull the printer head toward the center, away from the rightmost position (with the power off). Otherwise, the head simply remained stuck on the right and I immediately got the B200 error.

This worked for me. Things you will need, something thin to hold the STOP button dsepressed. I used my Drivers License. 1) Turn off the power. 2) Press and hold the STOP Button. 3) Insert Card between the gap of the printer and the STOP button. 4) Turn on the printer. If you do not get the error MSG. Continue to the Maintenance Menu 5) Clean Heads
    6) Remove the Card so that the Stop is no longer depressed.
    Good Luck

The root cause of the B200 error could also be the bent pins that mate with the cartridge chips. They bend with time due to multiple cartridge insertions over years. Each cartridge chip (a SIM card lookalike little PCB) has corresponding 5 pins located in the print-head carriage. The pins should all be nicely aligned, pointing straight up. Once aligned, a bit of clean with a cotton bud and isopropyl will do the trick. B200 error gone.

Here's what worked for me. If anything else fails try the below - sure it wil help:
    1. Turn off power and leave plugged in.
    2. Open lid and slide ink tray to the far left.
    3. Press power button 5 times.
    4. Close the lid and let the machine reboot.
At this point the printer should return to home screen. When I first did this I tried printing and the error returned. So I did it again and tried going to the Maintenance menu (on printer) and running a cleaning cylce, error returned. Printing a test page also resulted in error returning. What finally worked is after step 4 I placed a page on the scanner bed, and ran a black and white copy. It took several minutes but it finally spit out a page. So my step 5 is....
5 Open scanner lid and place document (with something on it) on scanner bed. Closer scanner lid.
    6. Run black & white copy from printer menu.
If my last two steps don't work for you I suggest trying any other processes that might result in the printer actually having to print a page. Some people had results with the cleaning processes, copying worked for me.

Slade Crowder mine also from time to time goes error b200. I just repeat the steps again then it works. I also cleaned all ink jets, in a few mm of warm water in a carton. Do NOT get water on the circuits. PS naturally take cartridge out of printer.

Just had this error, from the video I learned it was the contact points to the cartridge itself. I have the 5 cartridge model, but I know I just replaced yellow so I took that one out, cleaned the little metal nubs that connect to the cartridge and put it back in. Just printed great! Thank you!!

The easiest way to fix this error is to open the printer as if you were going to change ink, wait for the cartridges to move past the half way point around 3/4 across and simply shut the lid. This works every time for me, although it may take a few tries. The method described in this video did not work for me and it takes a while-this method is much easier and after you complete this simple technique, a person will then have control of the printer and can do whatever type of maintenance they would like-it gives you your printer back

Replaced the ink cartridges that were blinking (two non brand cartridges), and my ix6520 is working again! I've been using non-brand cartridges for years now with no issue, and one or more is always blinking because Canon doesn't care for them, and it usually makes no difference. So it had to be some electrical hiccup going on. They were both nearly full, by the way, so it never occurred to me that I should change them! The ix6520 is a five cartridge system, so start with the blinking cartridges first. It's worth a try before you trash the machine which I almost did.

Zoinks!!! I had this problem before and it didn't work, I havd to remove the heads etc and rinse them. This time, having ditched the ip 7250 and opted for a laser ( good move) I needed to print a CD for a job. Same B200 issue after allowing the Magenta to run totally empty. Replaced tank and tried this a few times and hey presto!! Many thanks. The only thing was I had to get the tanks to the middle, then unplug the power cable, replace the cable, then catch the carriage before it goes to the left. Otherwise the carriage simply never goes beyond half way. Worth bearing in mind if it doesn't work initially? Many thanks!

After trying about 10 different things to no avail, the best conclusion I have arrived at - printer cost $48 new about 4 years ago; ink used over the years was essentially maintenance, so the printer now lies somewhere in a landfill. It served well, but has been replaced with a printer with large ecotanks.

Was trying to change the ink cartridges on my Canon MX870 when my small child closed the paper output door and the printer tried to move the print head (yes, with the cover open!). Heard ominous clicking sounds. Got error message. This video helped me to figure out that turning it off for a few minutes, and removing all the newly installed cartridges before turning it back on, would clear the error. ( Before I did that, the print head wouldn't move and just kept clicking ominously).

After removing the cartridges and the printhead, I cleaned the printhead and printer contact with isopropyl alcohol by dobbing with a cotton swab (not wiping), dried it with compressed air, and replaced everything but still had a problem. I then turned the printer off and then on and opened everything to drive the printer mainboard nuts to make it reset and then closed everything. After processing and processing and processing ad infinitum, until I had to take time out to shave, it finally works.

Ended-up roundabout here after doing a Google on the B200 message, but my problem was that the cartridge tray on my Pixma Pro-100 refused to move at all, so, this here little fix (however interesting and no doubt helpful) didn't solve my problem.
I was able to resolve the issue through sticking my hand inside the printer (which went in just far enough to reach the cartridges) and tried pushing on the cartridges. It helped as after a reboot the sled containing the cartridges came alive and swiftly moved to the center.
Hadn't used the printer in over a year but after the problems it printed A3 photos flawlessly, without even having to swap the ink cartridges or clean the printer head...

I have a Canon MP620 and I fixed my B200 error by fixing/opening the air vent on one of the cartridges which was blocked by the orange tear-off which didn't tear off completely. Actually I couldn't remove the remaining tape blocking the air vent so I just used a sewing needle to open up the air passage on the top of the cartridge. The error was happening all the time before, even when I just turned on the printer. Before I discovered the problem, I tried flushing the print head with warm water several times but the error came back after a short while. I had even ordered a new print head thinking it was a problem with the head. But it is completely normal now after fixing the cartridge.

Thanks Cool BUT Another thing I believe we are missing is the "BED" of the printer heads, where they "SLEEP" when not in use, needs come cleaning.
Observe where the printer cartridges/heads position themselves in their bed position when the printer is turned off. This area of the printer is where the heads rely on being clean and able to seal from ink drying out while not in use.
While turned off, move the heads over so you can access this area. Use a flashlight to see well.
Using a water-wet-moist paper towel/napkin, clean this area and any rubber flaps. Constantly turn the paper to a clean area until it is a dirty ball. Repeat with a new wet paper towel/napkin, up to like 5 of them. You'll never get all the ink to come off but at least the majority of it.
This might be the reason our heads are drying out or clogging because we've never cleaned their "bed area".
    Take care

My printer crashed at the worse time possible homework and exams are coming up.
I tried all the fixes above and it did not work. In this case you need to unplug the printer set the head to the middle and plug back in and restart the printer. With the cover open once the head is going all the way to the left close lid in order to
get to the options menu or normal menu. Now that you are in normal mode and the menu pops up you print 4 pages of anything (Make sure cartridges are not empty or near empty since it will fry your head). After successfully printing 4 pages the b200 error will change to a b52 error (incorrect head error). Turn off printer and clean the electrical components of the head by lifting the level and taking out the printing head and put it back in. Now the printer will clean the head which will take about 4 minutes. Give it time and it might work for you.
(if this doesn't work repeat steps but wash the print head before starting up)
b200 error is Cannons way of making you buy more components

This error can also be caused by a dead print head, or a bad main board, or both.
We have had at least 25 people over the last six to eight years come into our shop with this error, only to find out that the main board is toast and it blew the printhead. In some cases, you can check the ribbon cable and see one of the traces in the cable is burnt.
Before we discovered this, we ordered in and replaced the printhead in one machine, and it blew the head right away. That was a $100 head.
If none of the tricks here work, I would not recommend replacing the head unless you're willing to risk blowing a new head.

The printer costs approx. $100.00 or less, so why spend $100.00 on a new head?

  • @0111vramj
    @0111vramj ปีที่แล้ว

OF COURSE the company wants you to scrap the one you have and purchase a new one.. especially if you are suing non oem ink. Replacing faulty OEM cartridges gets expensive quick! I have had my Canon Pixma MX922 for 6+ years (2017-2023 so far) using NON oem ink right off the bat. Only just recently gotten the B200 error (2nd time now) after trying a different non oem brand. Luckily for us, after hours searching online and trying other things, the ONLY way we had to fix was taking out the printhead and flushing/rinsing it with warm/hot water until no color is seen, the letting it sit on a paper towel to dry overnight. Replaced in the machine the next day, put the same inks back in and start up the machine. It starts whirling and buzzing to do its thing of cleaning and getting ink ready, taking about 5-ish minutes... then prints perfectly. That is the basics, besure to turn off your machine when you have your hands inside it as some of the different versions are deeper inside than others.

  • @danl4222

I had this happen on 2 Pixma MX922 printers. I threw the 1st away .. but today 6 mos later my 2nd printer developed a B200 error too I followed this gents advise. It cleared the issue only until I again tried to print .. then B200 again. I did this several times .. B200 each time. Using the classic troubleshooting methodology I wanted to look at the last thing I changed. In the A.M. I putt a new yellow cartridge in the printer. This was a 3rd party ink. Generally they work fine .. but this one had no brand .. but does have part number CLI-251Y/XL . So I restarted the printer .. then pulled the plug when the carriage was in the open area. I replaced the new no brand cartridge with a Cannon one (but left all the other cartridges which were a known 3rd party ink) . Presto .. the printer came back to life and has not failed again. I am 99.5 % certain it was this cartridge
So what you should take away from my discussion here is that for reasons unknown the Cannon throws an incorrect error code (B200) and declares the head bad, when in fact the printer is just disagreeing with one of your cartridges. The printer is fantastic , but it has its nuances .. .and this is a big one. I threw a good printer away because of it. Don't make the same mistake !!! Cheers!!

I tried the method with closing the lid before the head went all the way to the left on Pixma IP7250. Error B200 disappeared, but when I tried to print something my printer died totally. I can't turn it on again. Completely bricked.

Hola buenas tardes quiero saber como puedo quitale el error B203 a mi printer canon MG6620 por favor

  • @robert5
    @robert5 6 ปีที่แล้ว

I have a cannon MG5400 that was showing the B200 error. Could not get it to stop using any of these methods, I could get it to start without the error some times but it would always go back to the error code B200 if I tried to print. Finally did a factory reset done through the interface, that seems to have fixed it, hopefully for good.
Had to re-setup the wifi but that was easy. It found my wifi network, all I had to do was put in the wifi password and it worked and I could print to it from my PC after that.
I need to replace this thing, any one recommend a newer model that you can successfully use aftermarket ink cartridges and refills? Cannon can suck it, I'm just not going to pay their stupid high ink prices.

Merci !

We recently had 2 Canon printers that stooped working after software installation. The most recent, Pixma MG55350 had B200 Error. I played with it a little bit more and it shut down all together, there is no way I could turn it back on. Removed the PSU and checked it with a voltmeter and it was fine, I put it back in and had error 5100 . tried to turn it off and on and the printhead carriage started very strong and fast knocking from the left end to the right end, I thought the printer is going to break, and it displayed 6A81 Error. I had now given up and bought a new printer, not Canon of course. Has anyone seen that?

No, they don't. They used to (a long time ago), but not any more. Brother, HP, Lexmark all make their own inkjet engines, as does Epson. They share more laser printer engines than inkjet engines. It's really easy to identify a Canon engine. In fact, I have never seen a Brother, Epson or HP using a Canon inkjet engine. (I have been repairing computers and printers for over 30-years, and I am authorized Canon, was authorized Brother until they dropped all service centres, we are an authorized HP dealer and authorized Epson service centre). So, sorry, but you're wrong.

The head will start moving but once it starts going to the very left, close the head and wait until the printer boots up. I have a MG5320 and this worked. Hope it helps

I came here to fix that issue on my Canon Pro-100, which is arguably the worst purchase I've made in my life. The set-up was a nightmare, the wifi connectivity crapped out constantly, and then after making about 20-30 prints it died altogether. Doesn't get much worse than that.

CODE B200 displayed ? Wait about a week, then press the printer "on", pull out each cartridge and turn it over (so that the ink outlet is up), then shake it, and put it back in its place. The printer will reset itself and then start working again. My Canon PIXMA MG6350 works again.

I tried unsuccessfully to clear the B200 error using the method of 1. Power off. 2. Lift lid 3. Turn on before cartridge reaches left and then shut lid. (Still received B200 error on Cannon MG5520). HOWEVER I was able to clear the B200 error by:
    1. Turn off printer
    2. Turn printer on
    3. Open printer and remove all print cartridges. (Leave cover open)
    4. Turn printer off
    5. Turn printer on (Will receive printer lid open message)
    6. Close printer lid (Will receive print cartridges missing error)
    7. Open printer lid and insert all cartridges you removed in step 3.
Hopefully this will work for you as it did for me. I think by introducing the printer lid open and cartridges missing errors, caused all printer errors to reset once the cartridges were re-inserted and the printer lid was closed. Time will tell. As for me I will never buy Cannon again once this printer dies, which may be sooner than later.

The advice to contact Canon support may have made sense 8 years ago, when this video came out. In 2022 and 2023 they are unresponsive, and if you manage to find anyone there to answer a phone, they'll simply tell you the device is out of service, even for a fee. They would not accept money to fix the device.

  • @sadilson
    @sadilson 4 ปีที่แล้ว

No, it doesn't help because I have the 5 cartridges one. Perhaps change the title of your video "...2 cartridges". That would help!
