Replacing old style master cylinder with the new style, vacuum booster, master cylinder, demo Hydra vac system and old brake lines on the F 600 m haul truck . Hydra booster
Is the proportioning valve necessary with all drums? Trying to upgrade the brakes on my f600, but everything im reading says the valve is only needed with front calipers.
The proportioning valve does not proportion the hydraulic fluid in the brakes under normal conditions. It only shut the fluid off when there’s a leak to either the front or the rear.
This doesn’t look safe. There shouldn’t be a proportioning valve. You’re limiting your pressure to the rear. The original system was 50/50 front and back
Dear pastor bill could you share what master cylinder and booster you purchased I’m currently having hydro vac problems with my 1970 f600 and can’t find everything I need much appreciated
Pastor Bill!! All I can say is that it wasnt luck, it wasnt my own determination, it had to be Him that brought me here. I have literally spent dozens of hours over the last 2 or 3 months scouring you tube for a video that would support my belief that a firewall mounted system like the one in your video would do the trick for me. I found lots of videos, but none that demonstrated my hunch was right on a vehicle like mine...a 63 f600 with the midland hydravac booster under the drivers seat...just like yours!!! Thank you so much, you saved my truck from becoming a paper weight...those hydravac boosters do not exist anymore, there are zero on earth. I do have 2 questions, and I would be forever thankful for your answers. Exactly what make and model firewall system is that? I found one with a 1 1/8" bore, ,but i would be more comfortable hitting the "buy now" buttin if i knew what yours was. ALso, did you have to move or mess with the pedal placement? thank you, you have no idea how much youve helped me. God bless!
Hey Wesley I had to do tons of research to figure things out. eBay has your hydra vac booster, there’s basically only two types, single and double circuits on my truck It was a single circuit. But soon they won’t be available so I decided to go a different route. Ford made firewall boosters on some of their trucks also f600s in the early 80s had them on the gas models with 6 lug wheels. Mine was from eBay 7 " Power Booster 1 1/8 Master Cylinder & Bottom 4 Disc Disc Proportioning Valve” and it stop’s great. I got mine because it was cheap but if I was doing it over, I would probably go with the F 600 from the 80 models truck because it would be a direct Bolton as for modifications to the firewall. I only had two drill, two holes and widen two other holes. I also made an adapter to mount it to the firewall. I also had to shorten the brake pedal rod, but that was easy to do. if you’re not one for fabricating, I would do the swap from another truck even a master cylinder and booster from an F350 would work that has the vacuum booster if the truck has disc brakes. Disc brakes are the key because they produce more psi to handle the larger brakes on an F 600 drums brake system. I’m glad much my channel is helped you so much. Thank you for your comments. Hope I can help you again.
@@waterboy4124 Thanks for the encouragement, I would rather drive an older vehicle than a new one. The basic systems over the years have not changed much so adapting parts to make them fit is not that difficult if you’re able to fabricate a little bit. I think it’s better to keep things working than storing them away, hiding them so nobody can enjoy them. GodBless

@@fixingthingswithpastorbill3840 its spring time again and I'm diving into round two of the battle of the brakes. The hydroboost booster became a herring and I had to accept that the cardone company pushing out the delivery by 5 or 6 weeks, every 5 or 6 weeks, meant i wasn't getting one. I put on a small (7" booster) on the truck and after the mods and a thousand bleeds and blah blah, the truck wouldn't stop. You tube put you in front of me tonight as I reconsider how to proceed. If i wouldnt be darned I never saw your reply to my comment last year. However, I was really glad to hear that you suggested the 11" booster and cylinder that was used on later model f600s because that's what my friend and I decided to order just now! YOu helped me twice! Take care, God bless!

Hey Pastor Bill, I’m thinking of trying to get a mid 60’s F700 rollback back on the road so this may help me get a long way down the road! Thanks!

This system applies equal pressure to both sides and if one side fails I still have brakes. Thanks for your input others have also mentioned this.

7 " Power Booster 1 1/8 Master Cylinder & Bottom 4 Disc Disc Proportioning Valve , eBay
Hello Pastor Bill. Do you have the part #'s for the booster and master cylinder?
Where did you find them ?

This is not a bolt on unit some fabrication is needed. The holes in the firewall don’t line up and the pedal shaft will need to be modified.
