    I have a 1959 Chevy Viking 40 (2 ton) and equipped with a Bendix HydroVac also, Works very well, My wheels have twin wheel cylinders and this truck even fully loaded stops on a dime with ease.

    I recently replaced all the wheel cylinders, master cylinder and booster on my '67 F600. Thank you for explaining the booster in great detail because this information is basically nonexistent. My truck was abandoned for years on an old farm in Georgia that is now a subdivision. Fortunately all the drums were like new. The cab has no rust and the cab mounts have no rust. I wire brushed the floor then sprayed cold galvanized paint before replacing the original rubber factory mat. I put a new fuel tank and all new fuel components, as well. New radiator, water pump and hoses. I replaced the distributor with a new HEI that is a bit more modern than the old points. I love your videos of your truck and I love to see you working with your father. Our old trucks become family members after a while.

      Great story! Unfortunately the farm i bought mine from is less than a mile from the incessant march of subdivisions, and particularly ugly ones at that. Guess that's one reason they get put up for sale. Good to save the trucks as family projects even if we can't save the farms.

    Very informative video sir! I keep buying big old trucks, and so far all of them seem to have a hydrovac brake system and I was curious how they worked. I'm currently rebuilding the brakes on a 1966 C60. I also found the video about the split rim wheels to be extremely helpful! My truck seems to have the Firestone RH 5s on it.

      Check out my later video on brake installation, but here's the short of it
      Napa has wheel cylinders, master cylinder, and hardware kits. They might be able to get a rebuilt hydrovac, but don't count on it. For shoe relining and drum turning, find a local brake specialist shop. I used Brake And Equipment Warehouse in Minneapolis. They had all the wheel cylinders and whatnot in stock as well, Raybestos brand. They sent my hydrovac to Texas to be rebuilt. Hard to find hydrovac parts but they still do exist! Consider a newer firewall mounted booster with dual master if you have the room- i didn't. I of course made all the lines by hand from nicopp.

      @@SealedBeamRallyTeam Thanks. I checked Napa online but they didn't have anything listed so I might stop in the local shop to inquire. Maybe they can help with the pads and drums. Will look for a shop local that relines and turns as well.

    Diesels don't have any vacuum don't have anything to do with the turbos. Diesels don't have a throttle flap it's wide open all the time and the gas pedal just controls how much Diesel fuel gets injected

    • @SealedBeamRallyTeam
      @SealedBeamRallyTeam  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point! That combined with turbo gas engines would cover most of the engines in modern pickups.
