    I really like using the morse code method especially in subjects that uses the books more often, it's where you put a dot when you see a definition that is answering the question, or the topic, and the dash that shows an example or supporting ideas to the answer

    • @Mister_Soyuz_on_YT
      @Mister_Soyuz_on_YT 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do the same but mix the order. the bullet point or dot is for topic or bold words. The dash with arrow is for information, concepts, or key words. Then I use a, b, c for examples.

    notetaking on actual paper doesn't work for me in class as a uni student. my lecturers speak so fast and they don't bother repeating what they said. So what i like to do is pull out my sticky notes on my laptop or ms word. Then I'd type shorthand notes in class. I'd also voice record the lecture with my phone. After class I'd type up my notes again so they make more sense, connect the dots, etc. When it's near exam time I'd then write my own questions and make myself quizzes for each topic. This method works for me

    honestly, i don't appreciate the perpetuation of the concept that using certain expensive tools and stationery will significantly increase effectiveness of studying. in the end, the difference that it makes isn't very significant and the effectiveness is related more closely with other factors such as organization of the notes and the dedication/focus level of the student. other than the obvious product plugs, which i understand are in there because you _are_ a stationery selling website, this video is pretty good. i would suggest organizing notes in a more structured Q&A format to make it easier to quiz yourself while studying from the notes and use active recall, but bullet points and cornell notes are alright as well.

    • @rafail6089
      @rafail6089 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do agree with most of what your saying, for me personally when I take notes, I appreciate pens that don't smudge or smear as much, since I'm left handed, it doesn't leave my notes messy and it refers back to your valid point of organisation and also I love to be organised ahahahah. Also i don't see the benefits of the cornell method, since I just think it's unnesercary for more vocational, creative subjects like Drama, Literature etc... Other than that, stationery in general shouldn't be the main issue of taking effective notes, it's about how one retains the information and how they understood the notes they just took :)

    • @ya-like-jazz
      @ya-like-jazz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rafail6089 yeah! i know that good products can make the process more enjoyable or can make things easier for lefties, but i really don't think that the products you use will make or break your studying. it comes down to dedication and grit. also, i personally totally agree with you about cornell notes, but i still understand why some people find it useful.

    Pens and pencils are important on taking notes, depending on what you are taking notes from. It’s true that Mechanical Pencils are best choice for people that usually use pencils. This is because you don’t need to sharpen the pencil and the font size of the pencil stays the same.

    Write in cursive. If you can decipher it later today day, use cursive. If not, use whatever handwriting you can read later, and if you have free time, use a little to work on your cursive or "joined-up" writing. Read from paper, such as books or printouts, not a backlit screen. These tips are backed up by scientific studies on how well students retain what they learn. Top tip: learn by doing if you possibly can, such as in an apprentice relationship.

    Id say get a computer or a tablet, something that lets you use a keyboard. Typing is way faster than handwriting, even if you are not good at it. Also, you can type while still looking ahead to the blackboard or to the slides.
    After the lecture, go through what you've written and write a clean study sheet or flash cards with the assistance of your notes. This can be either handwritten or typed, I prefer hand written cards since it allows me to easily include drawings and you'll memorise more when you use a different medium. Especially writing and even saying out loud the things you write helps with consolidating information in your head.

    Well, my method may not be good for your business hehehe.
    I use digital note taking with OneNote and a stylus on a windows 2 in 1 touch laptop.
    It's EXTREMELY versatile, like, for real. You can copy/cut and paste things you have drawn/written and it's super convenient.
    Also, I do review my notes after class, I generally tidy up the page and place some google images related to the subject i'm seeing, es well as links to youtube videos and direct access to class PPTs or PDFs, as well as importing those to OneNote and writing over them.
    But yeah, the stylus is kinda finicky some times.

    • @tessgriffin8947
      @tessgriffin8947 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The best way to use the Cornell Method is to write promoting questions in the left column and their answers in the right. This way you can revise a topic by covering the answers and answering the questions, which is active recall. Active Recall is statistically most effective for any type of learner, as your can ask questions in whatever format you want while still recalling knowledge. Hope this helped!

    • @undersaddle1876

      Cornell system is great for linear thinkers; however, if you are a creative thinker, Cornell is very limiting.

    • @tessgriffin8947
      @tessgriffin8947 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Under Saddle I like to think of myself as creative, and I’ve adapted the system to include diagrams, images, mind maps, and other creative embellishments to it. I think if you take notes in a way that means you understand the concept (why as opposed to what), whatever that entails for you, the Cornell method can be effective. I would recommend making the notes then creating questions. I don’t include the summary as part of my notes because by reading the notes I understand quickly and easily. It can take a lot of work but it’s worth it in the long run. Adapt every system to fit you! :)

    • @Liuhuayue
      @Liuhuayue 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tessgriffin8947 I used to write questions, but in the end, I find it more helpful to write clarifications than questions to myself. It takes me too long to answer some of my questions to be of any help, in my experience.

      My teachers kinda forced the Cornell Notes system upon me since 7th grade. I absolutely HATE it! I never actually used my notes to study (I never studied), so I didn't see a reason to like Cornell Notes. I still have to take them, and I do my very best in cutting corners: I don't write questions in the left column, I don't include a summary, and I take up space by doodling. I was hoping this video was going to include a different note-taking method that could convince me to actually study. Am I asking for too much? Can someone teach me how to study?

    In ancient times we would record the teacher/professor/instructor while taking notes and then go back over the recording after class to tighten up your notes even more. Works better than any other technique imho. 90% of people carry around the most expensive recorders to date historically! They’re called smartphones. Use the technology right on your hands guys. Trust me nobody is gonna have better notes than you if you take notes during class and THEN go back afterwards with a recording and improve even more on the initial notes!

    how do you prevent the ink from bleeding through paper

    • @JetPens
      @JetPens  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bleedthrough depends on both the paper quality and the type of pen you are using. You can either improve the paper quality or change the pen. Ballpoint pens almost never bleed through paper, so we recommend using those if you can't change your paper: www.jetpens.com/Ballpoint-Pens/ct/240
