The symmetry and patterns I do mainly by eye from a design I have in my mind the only math I'm doing is to get the right length of the segments. Thanks for watching
Very nice piece. Nice design. Excellent workmanship. Beautiful finish. Terrible video. All that fast speed makes it so jerky that it's difficult to watch. You don't have to show every minute but what you do show should be real time. I would like to see what tools you are using and how they are presented to the work piece. And the beginning is hard to follow when you are laying out and cutting. A few captions throughout the video to tell what you are doing would be nice.
This video only shows the end result in real time I am sure fellow woodturners would like to see the video At a slower rate so we can see more detail of the segments you are cutting You are not teaching us anything but showing off John s

Helvete vad fin. Ögonmåttade du bara hur mycket rotation varje ny segmenterad skiva skulle ha?
Tackar!! Ja jag körde bara med ögonmått det brukar bli rätt bra
Nice :) måste sno inspiration från denna när farsan köper ny svarv en vacker dag, haha. Älskar grekiska mönstret (meander?) längst upp på skålen.

👏👏👏
Awesome piece! How long did it take?
Thank you Nancy!! This took about 20 hours to complete
Wow very nice. What did you use for glueing the segments and rings? What is the finish that you used?
Thank you Scott!! I used regular wood glue and I finished it with Yorkshire grit and danish oil
I enjoy watching your videos. What is the make & model of the lathe you are using?
Thanks Buck!! The lathe is of a swedish brand called Ejca it was made sometime in the 1970s but I’m not sure on what the model name is
Wonderful
Thank you!!
Excellent work. is it possible to get measurements/ calculations for this structure?
Thank you!! I just make a rough sketch as you can see in the beginning of the video so it isn’t really anything I can give away
